I have Backup Exec 2010 R3, running RAWS. I am backing up Windows 2008 R2 VM's and one Windows Exchange 2010 VM. The backups started to run very slow this week, by that I mean they are running under 100mb per minute. This makes them not finish on time. I have another backup system that has the same setup. It is not having any issues. I have verified the jobs are the same and went menu by menu. I have noticed that this appears to be a somewhat widespread problem. I was hoping that someone out there had a solution. Thank you very much. Jeremy1.4KViews2likes14CommentsDoes More than one Techn work at Symantec?????

DB2 backup are going to the wrong policy, for example if backup was initiated from PRD_PORDB2_DB2_D_Full policy. Data will be recieved by PRD_PORDB2_DB2_M_Full. My goal is to keep different retentions for DB2 backups. And since data is going to the default-applicaiton-backup schedule, multiple policies are requered. db2.conf DATABASE JCRDB OBJECTTYPE DATABASE POLICY PRD_PORDB2_DB2_M_Full SCHEDULE Default-Application-Backup ENDOPER DATABASE JCRDB OBJECTTYPE DATABASE POLICY PRD_PORDB2_DB2_W_Full SCHEDULE Default-Application-Backup ENDOPER DATABASE JCRDB OBJECTTYPE DATABASE POLICY PRD_PORDB2_DB2_D_Full SCHEDULE Default-Application-Backup ENDOPER DATABASE JCRDB OBJECTTYPE ARCHIVE POLICY PRD_PORDB2_DB2_Arch SCHEDULE Default-Application-Backup ENDOPER DATABASE JCRDB OBJECTTYPE DATABASE POLICY PRD_PORDB2_DB2_M_Full SCHEDULE Default-Application-Backup ENDOPER DATABASE JCRDB OBJECTTYPE DATABASE POLICY PRD_PORDB2_DB2_W_Full SCHEDULE Default-Application-Backup ENDOPER DATABASE JCRDB OBJECTTYPE DATABASE POLICY PRD_PORDB2_DB2_D_Full SCHEDULE Default-Application-Backup ENDOPER DATABASE JCRDB OBJECTTYPE ARCHIVE POLICY PRD_PORDB2_DB2_Arch SCHEDULE Default-Application-Backup ENDOPERSolved1.2KViews1like4CommentsSet up exchange database backups with exec vray 14 edition
Greetings, I our institution we have 2 host running Windows Data Center with hyper V, we buy the Backup Exec 14 Vray Edition for the backups. We have an Exchange server 2013 and a Server for SQL 2012 databases both servers are virtual. We're trying to set up backups for the exchange database and sql databases (not for the server), I will like to know if there its a manual for configuring the Exchange database in a virtual server or if we need to buy an agent for the backup. I want to make clear that we're trying its to make backups for the databases and not for the server itself. Thank you for the support.Solved1.2KViews1like2CommentsVSS Snapshot error
Hello, I am running BE 2012 and I'm trying to back up a new server. Since the server is offsite it is acting as it's own media server. When I try to back it up I am receiving: - Snapshot Technology: Initialization failure on: "\\ServerName.DomainName.com\System?State". Snapshot technology used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS). V-79-10000-11226 - VSS Snapshot error. The Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) snapshot technology selected returned: "Unexpected provider error". Ensure that all provider services are enabled and can be started. Check the Windows Event Viewer for details. I tried turning the AFO to software for the provider instead of Automatic. No Dice. The job is also throwing exceptions for every other component to the server in regards to VSS. When I check the event logs I receive 2 errors corresponding to one job: Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Error calling a routine on a Shadow Copy Provider {b5946137-7b9f-4925-af80-51abd60b20d5}. Routine details EndPrepareSnapshots({4a616c26-02a5-42f0-a4a0-f35e21f6925c}) [hr = 0x8000ffff]. Operation: Executing Asynchronous Operation Context: Current State: DoSnapshotSet AND One saying the backup job failed... Can anyone give me some insight on how to fix this?Solved5.1KViews1like30CommentsUnable to create disk storage in Backup Exec 2012
Hi all, hope someone can help. Long story short, we had to change some domain passwords on users and in doing so, the backup no longer runs. Upon further research, the disk was being "seen" as offline, even though this NAS (a QNAP device) is accessible, there is plenty of storage, and I can browse to it as the domain admin from the server that Backup Exec is installed. I can also get to it as the domain user that was originally running the backup job. So, after tinkering with things, I just decided to delete the jobs and storage device (nothing was working that I came across under Symantec forums/KBs) and I am now stuck on trying to setup the storage device again from scratch. Every time I try to configure it, it keeps failing. I get the error and screenshot of: Unable to create the disk storage. The Backup Exec service account does not have read and write permissions on the remote computer on which the network share is located. The Backup Exec service account that requires these permissions is on the Backup Exec server that you want to access the network share. You must give read and write permissions to the Backup Exec service account, and then try again. At this point, I do not know what to do. I've tried other locations to backup to, that hasn't worked. The product is updated from LiveUpdate and I have rebooted the Windows 2008 R2 Standard 64-bit server. I don't actually understand the part about the BE service account. What is that? Where would I be able to tell what that has permission to? To my knowledge we never had to create a specific AD user by this name to then use the product over the network. Can anyone help step me through what might be the problem? Plain and simple, it just seems to not see the NAS device over the network anymore. Thanks for any help...--Kirk5.1KViews1like15Commentsbackup & restore performance
