Set up exchange database backups with exec vray 14 edition
Greetings, I our institution we have 2 host running Windows Data Center with hyper V, we buy the Backup Exec 14 Vray Edition for the backups. We have an Exchange server 2013 and a Server for SQL 2012 databases both servers are virtual. We're trying to set up backups for the exchange database and sql databases (not for the server), I will like to know if there its a manual for configuring the Exchange database in a virtual server or if we need to buy an agent for the backup. I want to make clear that we're trying its to make backups for the databases and not for the server itself. Thank you for the support.Solved1.2KViews1like2CommentsV-79-57344-38264 - Unable to copy the virtual machine disk using the VMware VixDiskLib.
Hello Everyone, Currently we have a server 2008 64bit server with BE 2014 which was upgrade from 2012 and for some strange reason I keep getting this particular error message while backing up a few VMs as you can see below. V-79-57344-38264 - Unable to copy the virtual machine disk using the VMware VixDiskLib. VixDiskLib_Read() reported the error: NBD_ERR_DISKLIBV-79-57344-38366 - WARNING: "VMVCB::\\10.0.1.5\VCGuestVm\(DC)ha-datacenter(DC)\vm\SCSMDW\SCSMDW\SM Warehouse-000002.vmdk" is a corrupt file. This file cannot verify. Transport mode 'nbd' was used for the read operation of the disk 'SM Warehouse_1-000002.vmdk' In addition, I have research this particular message and I have not yet found anything online that is exactly what I am having issues with. Furthermore to provide additional background information the issue that I am having with the VM are on an Exsi host that is running version 5.5.5.7KViews0likes17CommentsVSS Snapshot error
Hello, I am running BE 2012 and I'm trying to back up a new server. Since the server is offsite it is acting as it's own media server. When I try to back it up I am receiving: - Snapshot Technology: Initialization failure on: "\\ServerName.DomainName.com\System?State". Snapshot technology used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS). V-79-10000-11226 - VSS Snapshot error. The Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) snapshot technology selected returned: "Unexpected provider error". Ensure that all provider services are enabled and can be started. Check the Windows Event Viewer for details. I tried turning the AFO to software for the provider instead of Automatic. No Dice. The job is also throwing exceptions for every other component to the server in regards to VSS. When I check the event logs I receive 2 errors corresponding to one job: Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Error calling a routine on a Shadow Copy Provider {b5946137-7b9f-4925-af80-51abd60b20d5}. Routine details EndPrepareSnapshots({4a616c26-02a5-42f0-a4a0-f35e21f6925c}) [hr = 0x8000ffff]. Operation: Executing Asynchronous Operation Context: Current State: DoSnapshotSet AND One saying the backup job failed... Can anyone give me some insight on how to fix this?Solved5.1KViews1like30CommentsServer Crashed where Symantec application was installed.
Dear All, We are sing symantec backup exec, the application was installed on 2008 windows server. A couple of days before our server was crashed on which our symantec backup application was installed. We are taking backup on tapes through this one. Thanks in AdvanceSolved2.1KViews0likes11CommentsUnable to create disk storage in Backup Exec 2012
Hi all, hope someone can help. Long story short, we had to change some domain passwords on users and in doing so, the backup no longer runs. Upon further research, the disk was being "seen" as offline, even though this NAS (a QNAP device) is accessible, there is plenty of storage, and I can browse to it as the domain admin from the server that Backup Exec is installed. I can also get to it as the domain user that was originally running the backup job. So, after tinkering with things, I just decided to delete the jobs and storage device (nothing was working that I came across under Symantec forums/KBs) and I am now stuck on trying to setup the storage device again from scratch. Every time I try to configure it, it keeps failing. I get the error and screenshot of: Unable to create the disk storage. The Backup Exec service account does not have read and write permissions on the remote computer on which the network share is located. The Backup Exec service account that requires these permissions is on the Backup Exec server that you want to access the network share. You must give read and write permissions to the Backup Exec service account, and then try again. At this point, I do not know what to do. I've tried other locations to backup to, that hasn't worked. The product is updated from LiveUpdate and I have rebooted the Windows 2008 R2 Standard 64-bit server. I don't actually understand the part about the BE service account. What is that? Where would I be able to tell what that has permission to? To my knowledge we never had to create a specific AD user by this name to then use the product over the network. Can anyone help step me through what might be the problem? Plain and simple, it just seems to not see the NAS device over the network anymore. Thanks for any help...--Kirk5.1KViews1like15CommentsBackup Exec with Oracle RAC 11g

Cordialement / Regards, Johannes.Solved1.9KViews1like11CommentsB2D Backups on Backup Exec 2010 R3 Running Slow
I have Backup Exec 2010 R3, running RAWS. I am backing up Windows 2008 R2 VM's and one Windows Exchange 2010 VM. The backups started to run very slow this week, by that I mean they are running under 100mb per minute. This makes them not finish on time. I have another backup system that has the same setup. It is not having any issues. I have verified the jobs are the same and went menu by menu. I have noticed that this appears to be a somewhat widespread problem. I was hoping that someone out there had a solution. Thank you very much. Jeremy1.4KViews2likes14CommentsJob rate B2D slow
Hello, We are experiencing a problem with the backup 2 disk jobs. De jobs are running to slow. Last week it worked fine, but this week it doesn't. Some information: Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3 (Rev. 5204) Disk is formatted NTFS Cluster Size: 4096 (3723,87 GB) On this moment B2D jobs running between 300 MB/pm and 800 MB/pm. When I take a look in the resource monitoring I noticed that the disk isn’t with high performance(screenshot). The backup jobs are backing up VM snapshots from the ESX server. Those snapshots are created without errors or warnings. there are also a few jobs with Netware, Windows and linuxtypes on file niveau. What we do when our duplicate jobs are running slow is the following: Select the B2D files and assign them to retired media. After that we delete those files from BE and the disk (wihout de folder.cfg and changer.cfg). After that I run an defragmentation. After that the duplicates are running fast again. Do you know what I can do about this issue? perhaps format the disk with a bigger cluster size? Thank you. Kinds Regards, Niels Treurniet DNA Services B.V.456Views0likes1Comment
