Backup strategy - choosing daily vs. weekly full, daily incrementals, etc.
For a straightforward EV 10 installation with about 10 TB of only File System Archiving data, using the NetBackup agent for EV to backup vault stores, indexes, etc, how do I choose a backup strategy? I've searched this forum, read http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH172279and DOC4933 and the article: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/enterprise-vault-backups-best-practiceand understand the need for and different sources of EV data needingbackups, but I cannot find any good advice on trade-offs between daily fulls, weekly fulls, daily incrementals, etc. Do the trade-offs between various backup strategies (RTO, RPO) that we consider for lets say ordinary file system backups apply equally as much to the EV backups, or is there an advantage - for example - of daily fulls over and above the shorter RTO you generally get with daily full backups (not having to apply daily incrementals to get latest)? I have seen that closed vault stores (and indexes?) should be backed up less frequenly - perhaps a weekly full only - so my question is more around EV 'non-closed' stores/indexes/etc. I realize this may be a complex subject - perhaps we could start with a simple strategy and poke holes in it: Weekly fulls of all EV data Daily differential incremental (NetBackup term for ordinary incremental of changes since yesterday's backup) of active data and SQL databases. Retain perhaps a month's work of weeklies and then retain monthlies until tape copies are made. Thanks.

Enterprise Vault HTTP-only Add-In tab disappears -- Outlook 2010
Below is the log when it fails. Have tried 9.02 and 9.03 client without change. This happens when the user reboots and returns the following morning. Enterprise Vault HTTP-only Add-In tab disappears - Outlook 2010
The tab on Outlook 2010 disappears when the user reboots at the end of the day and returns in the morning. Running a repair or re-installing almost always restore the tab, but this problem is consistent with this user (maybe others). Raised the logging level to 3 and below is what I think is the fail log. Vault API Tehnical Documentation
Hi, I'm working for a Software Company and one of our customer is using Enterprise Vault.He asked us to integrate our application with Vault to archive documents we generate. Scheduling EV services to go into backup mode
Folks, We have the following maintenance plan in place the run weekly http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH74666 Question is, do i need to create a task to place the services in backup mode before this maintenance starts, or will the linked maintenance plan automatically place the services in backup mode? Have found the following article http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO37613 which showes me how to place the services into backup mode but i haven't being able to find a way to schedule this task. Any help would be great thanks Paul

Critical Status messages after Backup Exec differential backups
Using EV agent for BE 2010 R3, we do weekly Full backups and daily Differentials. All backups complete succesfully. A couple of days after the full backup, we get the following warningsin the EV10 console. It is more than 2 days since backup or replication was detected for one or more open partitions. Open partitions with unsecured items scanned: 1 Total open partitions: 1 List of partitions: VaultStore 1 Ptn1 The fingerprint database 'EVVSGVaultStore1_1_1' transaction log for Vault Store Group 'Vault Store 1' has not been backed up for 3 days. The information in this database is at risk until the database has been backed up. The SQL database transaction log for Vault Store 'VaultStore 1' has not been backed up for 3 days. The information in this database is at risk until the database has been backed up. The weekly Full backup crears these warnings. According to http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO23612, diff backups should a fullbackup of the the databases, soI believethese messages should not appear. Anyone come across the same, or know how to stop the warnings appearing?

Invalid Journal Report Exchange 2003/2010 Mixed Environment
We recently upgraded to Exchange 2010 and currently running a 2003/2010 Mixed Environment. We are also running Enterprise Vault 9.0 with Journaling. I have the Exchange 2010 Server set to send Journal Reports to the Journal Mailbox which resides on the 2003 Server. Everything is running smoothly, however about half of the e-mails that originate on mailboxes that are located on the 2010 server, don't get journaled properly. The item ends up in a folder in Outlook called 'Invalid Journal Reports'. The e-mails have the paperclip icon next to them like there is an attachment, however there is no message attached to it. Anybody have ideas?

Vault recover
Un utilisateur a été supprimé, il y a quelques mois (dans Enterprise Vault 8.0 SP4), sous "Archives", dans "Exchange Mailbox" et il n'y a eu aucune sauvegarde de faite, pour le serveur Exchange (via NetBackup), pendant la période du 01.01.2011 au 24.02.2011 . Lorsque nous avons rajouté sa mailbox, à nouveau, dans Enterprise Vault, nous avons pu récupéré tous les mails archivés, avant 2011 et après le 24.02.2011, mais tout ce qui a été archivé, pendant la période sus-mentionnée, est perdu ou du moins, n'est plus accessible. Comment faire, pour pouvoir récupérer tous les mails, stockés dans "Enterprise Vault", puisqu'il doivent forcémenet être encore quelque part, sur le serveur, je suppose?

Enterprise Vault DR steps.
Hi, Can anyone help me to setup the Enterprise vault DR site. Primary site Exchange 2010 with DAG. We are implementing the Enterprise Vault 9.0.1 server in Windows cluster environment. The SQL server will be a standalone server. DR site. Exchange 2010 At DR site we have standalone server for Enterprise vault & For SQL server. The Replication of Data is SAN Based.
