Questions about Lotus Domino versions...
For over a year, I have been planning to purchase EMC's SourceOne product for our environment. However, I recently sat through a demo of the software, and discovered a few things that I didn't realize, and I would like to know more about Enterprise Vault for Domino. First, all versions of SourceOne require Domino 7 or newer. Our server is still on 6.5.5 until it is scheduled to be replaced in mid-2011. I could upgrade it, but getting everyone off of the email server for hours at a time is no easy feat. The EV documentation isn't exactly clear on whether or not EV8.0SP3/4/5 supports Domino 6.5.5. The table shown on the compatibility chart refers to "Mail template support," but that isn't necessarily the same for every mail file on the server (a few people are still using the old R5 design, but those can easily be replaced with the R6 design). The fact that it is so specific with the version leads me to believe it is actually the Domino version, but I am really not sure. Also, can new customers still purchase EV8, or are you forced to go to EV9? Second, EMC recommends 3 servers (DB Server, Worker Server, and Manager Server or somesuch). Does EV require/recommend more than one server, with fewer than 500 mailboxes? Third, with SourceOne, the DB server requires MS SQL Server to be installed somewhere. That was a cost I had not previously planned for. Does EV require that as well? Thanks for any input.851Views0likes5CommentsUnable to enable mailbox - [0x-2147417851] Enterprise Vault Lotus Domino
Good Morning We are just implementing our EV for Lotus Domino Servers into Prod and the settings are all the same as our certification environment. The only difference is more servers The journaling appears to be all working fine, but when I try to provision a persons mailbox it cant enable the mailbox. Ive tried other mailboxes and servers. All services and settings are all the same as in our certification environment. The provisioning report always contains the following ("Validate" is the provisioning group and "&EVPilotGroup" is the domino directory group, "mail\xxxxxx\xxxxx.nsf" is the mail file path 0 Validate &EVPilotGroup Domino Mailbox Policy Updated mailbox for user 'CN=Dxxxx Wyndham/OU=ADMIN/O=xxxx@NOTES' with DB 'mail\xxxxxx\xxxxxx.nsf' on server 'CN=xxxxxx1/OU=SVR/O=xxx' - Validate - Domino Mailbox Policy Unable to synchronize or auto-enable mailbox for user 'CN=Dxxxx Wyndham/OU=ADMIN/O=xxxx@NOTES' with DB 'mail\xxxxxx\xxxxx.nsf' - Unable to enable mailbox - [0x-2147417851] ThanksSolved758Views0likes3CommentsDominoHubServers key not accepting multiple values - Enterprise Vault for Lotus Domino
We a problem with the DominoHubServers multi-string key that you specify the backup Domino Servers. It works when there is only one server specified, but when there is multiplevalues in the key, the provisioning fails. This is the same when we do it in our Certification environment, but we only were certifying one backup server at the time. Hi to all, and regards, We have a customer that is evaluating to buy Enterprise Vault for their Lotus Domino 8.0.5 platform. They have a headquarter and several branch offices (about 15). Users in roaming mode, (I mean, users that are not connected to LAN neither WAN with their Lotus Domino mailboxes server. There are about 5000 users in roaming mode. There are other 4500 users that works with connection to Domino Server on Local Site. Users in roaming mode have a Lotus Notes configuration file to define the Location. Normally, users in roaming mode must to select the Location depends on if they are working in the office whith a local Dominio mailbox server (Local Mode) or if they are working in a location without a Domino mailbox server (Roaming Mode). In march, we install Enterprise Vault to a Proof of Concept. Ok, until here, the scenario explanation, now I want to share with you where is the problem. When users in roaming mode select the configuration file that defines they are working disconnected from the Domino mailbox server, the Lotus Notes client works with a Replication schedule. Obviously, they have a local replica of their mailbox database. Also, when they are working in roaming mode, all the options from the Enterprise Vault menu, dissapears. If users in Roaming Mode, change the configuration file to establish the Local location, then the Lotus Notes client connects with server and all the options for Enterprise Vault comes back. This behavior, prevents the users to search, archive or restore an email document from the EV vault. The costumer wants to grant the users with capability to archive, recover and looks for mail messages transparently, regardless of whether the mail is in the vault or not. I'm some familiar to Lotus environment, but I cannot understand why this occurs with EV. Your help will be very valuable for us. We have a very restrictive deadline for a response to the client: May, 31-2010Solved917Views0likes4Comments
