Domino Agent 9.0.1 FP4
I am trying to backup my Domino 9.0.1 FP4 environmentwith Backup Exec 15 and am encountering the following error when running the backup to disk - Backup- Domino Databases on D:An inconsistency was encountered on the storage media in SPMTRPBK001-ND-A. V-79-57344-33994 - The data being read from the media is inconsistent. It has completed successfully on rare occasion and incrementals seem to go fine. Since Domino 9.0.1 FP4 is not on SCL Symantec has refused to help. I am not certain however that this is even and a Domino specific issue. If I do not run a verify I see the full backup set, and then am able to restore from it for the databases I have attempted. This is very frustrating - how can Backup Exec not support a critical security fix for Domino that has been out for over a year and a half? Anyone able to successfully backup Domino 9.0.1HF 4 running Windows 2012 R2 x64?Solved1.7KViews1like5CommentsLotus Domino Databases are Missing from Selection List
I am running BE 2014, 14.1 Rev 1786 -64Bit. I have a Windows Server 2008R2, running Lotus Notes 8.5. Today I went to restore a mail file (.nsf) and found that it, along with most of my other mail files were not backed up on the tape I was using. I'm not sure how long this goes back as I'm still investigating this. When looking at the selection list, the entire /Data/Mail directory is selected under the Lotus Domino option in the selection list, but when you browse into it, only recently created NSF files are listed. I was able to resolve the issue by followingTECH165059but this apparently does not resolve this issue from occuring again. This is a massive issue - how can I ever trust Symantec to backup all of my Domino databases without manually checking to ensure each one is present on the tape (this is not an acceptable solution)? To make this even more of a concern... Symantec has known of thisissueat least as far back as version 2012, if not more. I'm running 2014 so the issue was known but not resolved during a major update. To reiterate, Backup Exec has 1 job, and it failed at that 1 job but conitnued to claim that it was actually doing that 1 job. What can I put into place so that I can trust the system? Is this resolved in BE15? Thanks1.6KViews2likes7CommentsAutomated Backup & Restore together
Scenario : 1. One LOtus Domino 9 server : Online / Production Server. WS2012 Std edition. 2. One Lotus Domino Standby Server Server : This server is passive. It will come online if the online server fails. 3. Backup Exec 2015 installed on the Online Lotus Domino Server . We are taking a full backup of Mail files ( *.nsf files) once a day and then restoring to standby server. We now want to automate this process. Is it possible to schedule backup and restore ( as described above ) together ( May be as two separate jobs )? I tried to do that but when I try to schedule a restore; it does not show me the backup done. It show older backups.Of course it will not show backup which has not been done. I am sure there are creative people out there who will find a way of getting this done. -----Shekhar-NashikSolved805Views0likes2CommentsRestore of Domino Servers no longer working after update to NBU7.7
We recently updated to NBU7.7 on our master server (Windows). We were running 7.6.1 previously, and had no problems at all. We have several IBM/Lotus Domino 9.x servers running on Linux that are being backed up by this environment. Previously, we were able to restore mail files, as needed. We could use redo logs to do point in time recoveries, if required, but we could always just do a restore of a single.nsf mailbox database to a secondary location with a new replica ID, then manually copy missing emails, folders, etc, if the user did not know when they deleted something. eg. "I know I had it last Friday." Since the update to NBU 7.7 on the master, when selecting an individual .nsf file in BAR dialog, the "restore" button is grayed out. We only get the "restore" button if we select the entire "mail" directory that contains all mail files. This requires restoring over a TB of total mail databases, which is both time consuming, and pretty ridiculous. We have been engaged with support since 8/17 with no resolution to this point, beyond them saying "GRT feature unavailablein NBU 7.5, 7.6, and 7.7 Based on research and reviewing the Veritas Netbackup Administrative Guide GRT is not supported. The entire mail box needs to be restore. You can select the entire folder and restore it, but not individual mail boxes." This makes absolutely no sense, as we've never used "GRT", which I assume refers to Granular Restore Technology, as used for say, MS Sharepoint Server, for Lotus Domino. We're also not trying to restore anything more granular than the mail file itself. Also, "The entire mails box needs to be restore. (sic) You can select the entire folder and restore it but not individual mail boxes." seems to be a contradiction. We've also had years of experience doing exactly what it says we cannot do from 5.x through 7.6.1, that is, restoring individual mail boxes. The Admin Guide for Domino also seems to suggest that it SHOULD work. It seems completely counterintuitive to require restoring the entire mail server to recover a single file. I cannot think of very many people who would accept that an entire fileserver needed to be restored to recover a single file that was overwritten by a user, and I see this as being very similar. Has anyone had any luck with restoring Domino mail files with NBU 7.7 master server? We've requested escalation, but that has, so far, not gone much better. If this is, in fact, the correct line, and restoration of individual mail files is no longer supported in NBU 7.7+, I can't see it remaining a viable option for our backup and recovery needs. Thanks in advance for any help. John529Views0likes1CommentBackup exec version for Domino 9.0.1 FP4
Hello, My customer use Backup exec 12.5 for the backup of the Domino 9.0.1FP3/FP4 x64 on Windows 2008R2 or Windows 2012 64bit. I have read that the last supported version for Backup Exec 15 is Domino 9.0????? The release of the 2013???? For me this is impossible...can someone of Symantec give me information about that? Hello, I had Lotus Domino 9.0.1 fp3 32 bits (Windows 2012 R2) and last version Symantec Backup Exec 2014. It was working. I have update the last patch Lotus Domino: IBM Domino 9.0.1 Fix Pack 3 Interim Fix 2 (released March 27, 2015) This patch solves security problems and disable ssl3, tls v1.0 and enable tls 1.2,etc. You can see it in http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21657963 Now I can not backup Server. I run a job and it reamins in state "queue and running" but it does not copy anything and does not end never. If I cancel the job it does not ends and I have to stop Backup Exec services. I think the problem is associated to communication protocol. I think IBM has changed some and Symantec can not establish a communication to backup. How could I fix it or debug the problem? What protocol does Symantec use to communicate with Lotus Domino? I have attached some log files. Where ip Symantec Backup Exec is 10.10.10.3 or legolas and ip Lotus Domino is 10.10.10.2 or zeus Thank youSolved1.3KViews0likes4CommentsError communication Lotus Domino

I thinks IBM changes shomething and now Backup Exec can not communicate with Lotus Domino. I ' m desperate I need any solution. I have tried to reinstall Symantec Backup agent in Lotus Domino Server. How does agent communicate with Lotus Domino? Thank youSolved524Views0likes1CommentBackup Exec 2014 splitting Domino jobs
Is it possible to split our Domino backup jobs into smaller sets? For instance, can we backup mail\A-M in one job, and mail\N-Z in a second job. Creating the selections is doable......but if the Domino server is using DAOS and transaction logging, how does BackupExec handle that? The .nlo files and transaction logs are shared between all databases on the Domino server. Thanks in advance, Nick603Views1like4CommentsLotus Notes Domino 9 backup failed on Netbackup 7.5.0.7
