BE2012 SQL Full then Inc backup, Inc backup does not run
I have a MS Server 2008, SQL 2012 server I've been backing up for a while now. Basically, I configured a Full backup job to run nightly followed directly by an Incremental job to fullfill the Logs backup requirement. These backups go to a virtual tape library then get dumped to tape automatically after an eject of the virtural tape occurs. So, I set the Inc job to eject the tape. The requirement here being I need a nightly full backup to disk, then tape. Problem is... Just the other day, the Incremental job just won't run anymore, no error, doesn't even show up in the log even though it's clearly scheduled. Is there some unstated rule in BE2012 that it doesn't run a second Incremental stage if a Full backup occurs? I'd expect an error or a skipped job message to at least indicate what happened. It's just odd. Like I said, it WAS working then just quit last week. I even deleted the old job and created a new to see if that was the issue with no luck. Anyone have any ideas? Community, Working with Backup Exec 12.5 in a test environment to test backup and restores from our production environment. I installed SharePoint 2007(SP2) on Windows server 2003 (SP2), SQL 2000 (SP4) and .net 3.5 (SP1) one one server and Windows Server 2003 (SP2) Backup Exec 12.5 (SP4) with SQL and SharePoint agents licensed, in a simplistick setup with pretty much all the defaults. When I try and add the SharePoint server as a SharePoint resource I get the error: "None of the Web servers for the specified server farm could be accessed." I can successfully connect backup and restore SQL, but that isn't the method used on our production. I've tried every article/discussion I could find related to this error, any advice or troulbeshooting steps would be greatly appreciated. Hi, i'm a newbie to this backup exec 2012, and recently we have active contract on supporting this Backup Exec 2012. By supporting this, we need to perform health check or software preventive maintenance on the servers equipped with backup exec 2012 on quarterly basis. Just want to know that whether there are some guidelines or procedures/steps on what we need to include in the health check such as services, connections, patches? Please share with me if anyone know how to prepare a backup exec 2012 health check checklist in order to perform the preventive maintenance for the servers. Hi all. I'm a pleased backup exec beta user. Since version 2010 my jobs to the same type of backup where separated because of version 2012 could do a single job to severall servers at the same time. So after severall weeks of good work with this last beta version that i'm using since beta program and i don't want any other i did a regroup to my SQL jobs for three servers to go on only one job. Let me explain. Server 1 Sql job 1 Server 2 Sql job 2 Server 3 Sql job 3 I hold it those three jobs and create a new job for servers:1,2,3 and the data to be backuped up is SQL server instance on wich of them. The same schedule that i had before wich is : Daily full backup at 22.00 and between 8.00 and 20.00 an incremental backup every 90 minutes. Now the issue: Only one of the servers, gives error wich is could not attach resource, and on the details i have that it couldn't connect to the SQL server instance. I'm using the same authentication as earlier the same network protocol and even the same NIC i checked that also, but only one server is unable to do the backup. On BE settings i have ports 10000 to 10031 to use to connect to servers, do i really need more...... Last to say, that the issue is on the incremental backup. The full backup works ok :) I have attached the settings of the sql job and the selection of the failed server.Solved593Views2likes5CommentsAgain 0x80004005 - Unspecified error

I have a SQL server that has 3 named instances and 1 default instance. I can connect to all of the named instances and back them up but not the default instance. The default instance is using not using the default port and I think I this is causing the problem. When I try to select the default instance I get a Browse Failure message saying that the Microsoft SQL Server does not appear to be running or network connections are preventing access to it. I have read a few articles for previous versions of BE and tried creating a .udl file to prove I can access the instance from the BE server which works correctly. The main thing I am coming acroos is that there is no way for BE to connect to a deafult instance that is running on a custom port, this is due to limitations in DBNETLIB. Is this the case or is there another way to backup my default instance?1.8KViews2likes8Comments
