Veritas cluster issue
Hi We have a VCS of two node. Two file systems are under VCS configured from VXVM. One file system got 100% full. Now we have rebooted the cluster node & the mount points started to show, but after some time that file system got disappear,Checked with concerned DG that also got disabed,we tried to manually import & got succeded. But after starting the volumes we tried to mount the filesystem under the specified mount point. But the below error giving--- # mount /dev/vx/dsk/bgw1dg/vol01 /var/opt/BGw/Server1 mount: /dev/vx/dsk/bgw1dg/vol01 is not this fstype # Kindly suggest what could be the cause. regards...ArupSolved2.2KViews4likes5CommentsIntegrating SAP with VCS 6.2 (on Oracle Linux 6.5)
Hi, I was wondering if someone has some additional information regarding how to setup my cluster... I have both VCS (inclusing Storage Foundation) and Linux knowledge. I do however have no background in SAP. And as SAP is a very complex product, I can not see the forest because of the trees... Setup 2 node (active-passive) cluster of Oracle Linux 6.5 nodes. Veritas Storage Foundation HA (= VxVM + DMP + VCS). Oracle 11.2 as database. SAP ECC 6.0 Apart from the Installation & Configuration guide on the SAP NetWeaver Agent, I found little information about implementing SAP in VCS. Source: "Symantec™ High Availability Agent for SAP NetWeaver Installation and Configuration Guide for Linux 6.2". But unfortunately I can not find a howto, guide or whatever from Symantec, nor from the usual Google attempts. My customer is however also not very SAP knowledged. From what I understand it is a very basic SAP setup, if not the simplest. They are using SAP ECC6.0 and an Oracle 11.2 database. So I assume they are just having a Central Instance and the Database. After some Google resource, I found out that SAP ECC 6.0 is technically a SAP NetWeaver 7.0. On Symantec SORT, I found 3 versions of SAP NetWeaver. I downloaded the first one, as the descripton says: SAP NetWeaver SAP NetWeaver 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4 SAP NetWeaver 7.1, 7.3 Agent: SAPNW04 5.0.16.0 Application version(s): SAP R/3 4.6, R/3 Enterprise 4.7, NW04, NW04s, ERP/ECC 5.0/6.0, SCM/APO 4.1/5.0/5.1/7.0, SRM 4.0/5.0/7.0, CRM 4.0/5.0/7.0 Source: https://sort.symantec.com/agents/detail/1077 SAP ERP 2005 = SAP NetWeaver 2004s (BASIS 7.00) = ECC 6.0 Source: http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/itanswers/difference-bet-ecc-60-sap-r3-47/ Source: http://www.fasttrackph.com/sap-ecc-6-0/ Source : http://wulibi.blogspot.be/2010/03/what-is-sap-ecc-60-in-brief.html Currently I have this setup unfinshed: Installed & configured Storage Foundation HA on both nodes. Instaled the ACC Libraries on both nodes. see: https://sort.symantec.com/agents/detail/1183 Installed the SAP NetWeaver Agent on both nodes. see: https://sort.symantec.com/agents/detail/1077 Configured next to the CusterServiceGroup, 3 Service Groups: SG_sap the shared storage Resources: DiskGroup + Volumes + Mount. the SAPNW Agent Resource. SG_oracle the shared storage Resources: DiskGroup + Volumes + Mount the Oracle Agent Resurce. SG_nfs still empty. SAPNW Agent. SAP instance type The SAPNW Agent documentation states: The agent supports the following SAP instance types: Central Services Instance Application Server Instance Enqueue Replication Server Instance. Source: "Symantec™ High Availability Agent for SAP NetWeaver Installation and Configuration Guide for Linux 6.2" But I guess the SAP ECC 6.0 has them all in one central instance, right? So I only need one SAPNW Agent. How is the SAP installed: only ABAP only Java add-in (both ABAP and Java). Source: "Symantec™ High Availability Agent for SAP NetWeaver Installation and Configuration Guide for Linux 6.2" I have no idea. How can I find this out? InstName Attribute Another thing is the InstName Attribute. This also does not correspond with the information I have. My SAP intance is T30. So the syntax is correct more or less, but it isn't listed below. Which is important also to decide on the value for the ProcMon Attribute The SAPSID and InstName form a unique identifier that can identify the processes running for a particular instance. Some examples of SAP instances are given as follows: InstName = InstType DVEBMGS00 = SAP Application Server - ABAP (Primary) D01 SAP = Application Server - ABAP (Additional) ASCS02 = SAP Central Services - ABAP J03 = SAP Application Server - Java SCS04 = SAP Central Services - Java ERS05 = SAP Enqueue Replication Server SMDA97 = Solution Manager Diagnostics Agent Source: "Symantec™ High Availability Agent for SAP NetWeaver Installation and Configuration Guide for Linux 6.2" In the listing of the required attributes it is also stated. However, the default value is CENTRAL. I guess this is correct in my case? InstName Attribute: An identifier that classifies and describes the SAP server instance type. Valid values are: APPSERV: SAP Application Server ENQUEUE: SAP Central Services ENQREP: Enqueue Replication Server SMDAGENT: Solution Manager Diagnostics Agent SAPSTARTSRV: SAPSTARTSRV Process Note: The value of this attribute is not case-sensitive. Type and dimension: string-scalar Default: APPSERV Example: ENQUEUE EnqSrvResName Attribute A required attribute is the EnqSrvResName Attribute. The documentation says this should be the Resource Name for the SAP Central Instance. But I am assuming I only have a SAP Central Instance. So I guess I should use the name of my SAP Agent Resouce from my SAP Service Group? EnqSrvResName Attribute: The name of the VCS resource for SAP Central Services (A)SCS Instance. This attribute is used by Enqueue and Enqueue Replication Server. Using this attribute the Enqueue server queries the Enqueue Replication Server resource state while determining the fail over target and vice a versa. Type and dimension: string-scalar Default: No default value Example: SAP71-PI1SCS_sap Source: "Symantec™ High Availability Agent for SAP NetWeaver Installation and Configuration Guide for Linux 6.2" Is anyone able to help me out? Thanks in advance.Solved2.4KViews2likes9CommentsApplicationHA on LPAR with VCS and SRDF replication agent
Hello, I am evaluating AppllicationHA in my environment which is composed of LPARs in two frames installed in two separate sites. The LPARs are accesing two EMC storage VMAX and there is a replication link using SRDF. We are not able to use Live Partition Mobility between the two PowerSystem Servers because there is not an storage shared betweem them. For this reason we will like to use a VCS management cluster installed in the frames (one node on each PowerSystem Server) and this VCS cluster is using SRDF replication agent. My question is if we configure applicationHA in this VCS management cluster to protect a LPAR, can this LPAR use the VCS with SRDF agent? Doing so, we will solve our limitation and we will be able to relocate the LPAR to the other frame automatically. Thanks and best regards Osvaldo1.5KViews2likes1CommentNFS Export of Solaris, Non-Global Zone, Direct Mounted VxFS Filesystem
Solaris 10 Update 11 SF-HA 6.1 with VxVM update 100 I've got a direct mounted VxFS filesystem in a Solaris non-global zone that needs to be NFS shared. This would be part of a failover group. group dbprod1 ( SystemList = { mia-sgz-p11 = 0, mia-sgz-p12 = 1 } AutoStartList = { mia-sgz-p11, mia-sgz-p12 } ) Mount MNT_prod1_rpt1_arch01 ( Critical = 0 MountPoint @mia-sgz-p11 = "/export/zones/mia-sdb-p04/root/od/prod1_rpt1_arch01" MountPoint @mia-sgz-p12 = "/export/zones/mia-sdb-p05/root/od/prod1_rpt1_arch01" BlockDevice = "/dev/vx/dsk/prod1_dg/prod1_rpt1_arch01" FSType = vxfs FsckOpt = "-y" ) I've read over both 6.1 bundled agent guide and the virtualization gudie and cannot figure out how to get NFS Server to start in the non-global zones. This service group will control one of two Oracle databses running in this local zone. The databases have to be able to failover independently of each other.Solved4.4KViews2likes13CommentsSymantec Cluster Server (VCS) 6.1 for Windows: Encrypting VCS agent passwords and user passwords
When you edit the VCS "main.cf" configuration file to perform any of the following tasks, you must encrypt the user passwords and the VCS agent passwords: Add VCS users Configure agents that require user passwords You can use the vcsencrypt utility to encrypt the passwords. To encrypt the user passwords, type the following command: vcsencrypt –vcs To encrypt the VCS agent passwords, type the following command: vcsencrypt –agent The VCS 6.1 for Windows release introduces a mode to generate a security key to create more secure passwords, for VCS agents. By default, security key-based encryption is not enabled. To generate a security key, you must add the "SecInfo" cluster attribute to the main.cf file, with a security key as the attribute value. By default, only administrators can generate security keys. Note: You can perform security key-based encryption only using the CLI. The service group configuration wizards do not use security keys to encrypt the agent passwords. For more information about encrypting the agent passwords using security keys, see: Encrypting agent passwords using security keys Generating a security key Encrypting the agent password VCS documentation for other releases and platforms can be found on theSORT website.404Views2likes0CommentsOracle Data Guard over VCS 6.0
Hello experts. It's being almost a month testing and digging on the VCS documentation regarding "Data Guard and Oracle agents supported by Veritas". The first I can say, documentation is incomplete, confusing and it assumes many things which is a REAL PAIN for a newbie. Anyhow, after weeks of issues and spending hours trying to understand who the whole thing works together, I still have many questions. Scenario: 2 Linux RH6 physical nodes Oracle 11.2.0.4 and Data Guard configured. This is all SINGLE INSTANCE. NO SHARED storage! I read the full documentation regarding Oracle Data Guard Agents for Veritas which was pretty much a real challenge. Questions I have: Why Netlsnr agent shuts down my listener? Switchover fails because of that. I had to remove the Netlsnr resource and monitor. How can I perform a smooth switchover from VCS using OraDG and OraDGBroker agents? It's pretty amazing why this information is not provided on the document. Is it there any other complete documentation regarding OraDG and OraDGBroker operation? It says "agent supports this or that" but it wont tells you the details "how" or "how to make sure this or that happens", or exactly "when". It's really vague. There is an example of what "vague" means. This is a portion of the document: Note: For activateStandby, deactivateStandby, flashbackRecover, SnapshotOn, and SnapshotOff action functions, you must increase the values of the ActionTimeout and MonitorInterval attributes for OraDG and OraDGSnap types before running. To "increase" them. Right. How much??? I found some values on another document but not sure why I have to do this or how to confirm the values are good. There are many other examples like this which makes VCS and Oracle implementation a pain. Thanks for any help you can give me. Ask me for any information and I'll provide it. Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) agents provide high availability to resources within a cluster environment. Resources are hardware or software entities that make up the application. A few examples of resources include disk groups and file systems, network interface cards (NIC), IP addresses, and applications are a few examples of resources. Each type of resource requires an agent. The agent acts as an intermediary between VCS and the resources it manages, typically by bringing them online, monitoring their state, or taking them offline. For more information on VCS agents, see: About agents in VCS About agent functions VCS agent framework Administering agents VCS agents are classified as follows: Bundled agents— Bundled agents are Veritas Cluster Server processes that manage resources of predefined resource types according to commands received from the VCS engine, theHigh Availability Daemon(HAD). They include agents for Disk, Mount, IP, and various other resource types. Bundled agents are packaged and installed along with VCS. For more information on Bundled agents, see: Veritas Cluster Server Bundled Agents Reference Guide Enterprise agents— Enterprise agents control third party enterprise applications, namely, Oracle, Sybase, and DB2. These enterprise agents are packaged along with VCS. For more information on VCS enterprise agents, see: VCS Agent for Oracle Installation and Configuration Guide VCS Agent for Sybase Installation and Configuration Guide VCS Agent for DB2 Installation and Configuration Guide You can download the enterprise agents that are shipped separately, from the Symantec Operations Readiness Tools (SORT) website, athttps://sort.symantec.com/agents. Agent Pack agents— Agent Pack agents are developed by Symantec for enterprise applications, databases, and replication solutions. They are part of the quarterly Agent Pack release. These agents are also available on theSORT website. For more information on VCS agents shipped with the Agent Pack release, see: Veritas High Availability Agent Pack Getting Started Guide Custom agents— Custom agents are developed by third parties. Typically, custom agents are developed because the user requires control of an application that current agents do not support. For more information on developing custom VCS agents, see: Veritas Cluster Server Agent Developer's Guide VCS documentation for other releases and platforms can be found on theSORT website.591Views2likes0CommentsSFHA Solutions 6.0.1: Configuring Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) in an Oracle VM Server for Solaris SPARC environment
Oracle VM Server for SPARC is a virtualization technology on the Solaris SPARC platform that enables you to create multiple virtual systems called logical domains (LDoms), on a single physical host. The virtualized computing environment is abstracted from all physical devices and allows you to centrally manage your workloads on a system. The logical domains can be assigned different roles such as control domain, service domain, I/O domain, and guest domain. Each domain is a full virtual machine where operating systems can be started, stopped, and rebooted independently. VCS uses the LDom agent to manage the Oracle VM Server for SPARC guest domains. Storage agents such as Disk agent, DiskGroup agent, and Zpool agent can be used to manage storage services provided to a guest domain. Network agents such as the network interface card (NIC) agent can be used to manage networking services provided to the guest domain. VCS provides the following functions for LDoms: Enables logical domain availability in the host (control domain) Initiates external reboot (hard reboot) of guest domain Enables failover of the guest domain to another VCS node Responds to user-initiated guest domain migration Enables dynamic re-configuration of CPU and memory assigned to the guest domain Creates logical domain configuration from the configuration file Automatically synchronizes the domain configuration file across the cluster nodes For more information about VCS in an Oracle VM Server for SPARC environment: About Veritas Cluster Server in an Oracle VM Server for SPARC environment About Veritas Cluster Server configuration models in an Oracle VM Server for SPARC environment Oracle VM Server for SPARC guest domain migration in VCS environment Configuring VCS to manage a logical domain using services from multiple I/O domains Configuration scenarios For more information on configuring VCS in an Oracle VM Server for SPARC environment, see Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions Virtualization Guide VCS documentation for other platforms and releases can be found on the SORT website.759Views2likes0CommentsUnable to configure appha on vmguest after installation.
