Hi folks, My company has 1 CAS and 1 MMS BE3600 appliances in two different sites and I'm now working on the upgrade preparation from R2 to R3 and later to R4. I know from this article the recommended sequence. However, a couple of questions come up in my mind about it: 1) Now that there are duplicate jobs between the two appliances for cross-site data resiliency. During the upgrade, with the communication disabled, I know that all the duplicate jobs have to be put on hold. But after I finish upgrading the CAS to R3 while the MMS is still R2*, can I enable the communcation and unhold the jobs on each appliance to resume the duplication? Will the duplicate jobs encounter failure due to the different versions? 2) After I finish upgrading the CAS, can I upgrade the agents on the backup hosts (e.g. Windows agents, Linux RALUS) of the CAS's site first so that the local backup jobs can resume? * The reason for me not to upgrade the MMS immediately after the CAS is because, first, they are located in two sites; second, I need to observe if the backup jobs will go wrong after the upgrade. 3) On the other hand, does the upgrade ever fail? I know I can back up the Data and Catalogs folders beforehand for emergency, but if anything really goes wrong, what should I do with these 2 folders? any specific guidelines for fallback? Thanks.Solved2.3KViews0likes3CommentsIncreasing Storage
Greetings to the well of knowledge... I know this has been discussed ad nauseam, but I don't think I've heard an answer to this one: Understanding that the storage would need to be reconfigured and that the current backup sets would be lost, can the physical disks in the appliance be replaced to increase capacity? Currently, there are four 1.8 TB drives in the appliance configured as RAID 5. Why can I not replace these with 3TB drives and rebuild the storage and the database? Seems like this should be possible. Regards, Ken787Views0likes1CommentUpgrading Backup Appliance 3600 R3 to R4

Hello, I am preparing to upgrading my 2 appliances: 1 CASO and 1 MMS, which one should I deal with first? CASO or MMS? And anything I should back up beforehand, e.g. the whole Catalog directory, any job settings, etc.? After the upgrade, do I need to perform on the appliance, i.e. Dedeplication disk, the action "Inventory and Cataloging"? Thanks, JoeSolved2.4KViews0likes7CommentsWebUI issue with BE3600

Good Day. Backup Exec 2015 , 14.2 1180.2113 We have problem on wrong showing in Backup Exec storagefree space and Phisical disk free space (less 500Gb) I try run job Cataloging on Appliance Dedupestorage, but job stopping after 6hourson Error0xe0008105 I do not know how to fix this problem.1.1KViews0likes2CommentsDirectory or File Not Found
I have a Backup Exec Appliance running Backup Exec 2014. It is backing up multiple Windows Servers and SQL databases. Everything is being backed up fine except for one server. This particular server is running Windows Server 2008R2 and has SQL 2008R2. I am receiving the following error: Final error: 0xe00084af - The directory or file was not found, or could not be accessed. If I restart the Server with the problem, the backup runs fine for the first night, and then fails the next night. It will continue to fail until I restart the Server. I have tried setting up two individual jobs for this server. One job backs up the C:\ and other data, while the second job backs up only SQL instances. They are set so that the first job is finished well before the second runs, so there is no conflict there. The first job always runs fine, but the job for the SQL instances always fails with the above error. Also, the following error is in the job log as well: V-79-57344-34108 - An unexpected error occurred when cleaning up snapshot volumes. Confirm that all snapped volumes are correctly resynchronized with the original volumes. I have read solutions involving shadow copies on the server being backed up, but shadow copies are disabled on the server, so that should not be the problem. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? Thanks in advance.Solved1.7KViews1like4Comments
