Veeam Backup 11a and Enterprise Vault 14.1
I have been backing up Enterprise Vault using Veeam Backup and Replication for years. Recently, my pre and post scripts to set and clear the backup mode stopped working. Access is denied (Event ID 7046) events are being written to the event log. Any idea why this may be occurring? Unable to set Vault Store Backup Mode. Reason:Access is denied. Dear Experts! Our customer is using EV 12.04 with FSA archiving. We are backing up the EV server with Veeam. The customer has the following expectations: - if we delete the placeholder file on the file server, it should delete in the future from archive too. (ok, it is ok, we can implement that) - if the backup is completed ev can really delete the files from the archive. (empty the trashcan or similar) (it is a problem) I found one site setting, which can control how many days should keep the deleted files in the archive. But it is a simple time setting which is not related to the backup. Question: ---------- - It is possible to implement this expectation? - If it is possible, how can we implement that expectation? Thanks a lot! OK, really strange issue and I have done some looking at other posts already as this is a common issue, but my symptoms are quite strange. (EV11) Created batch files that create archive bit files and calls powershell to set / unset backup mode on the store and index. Pretty standard stuff Running scripts on the EV server as the EV user works OK Running scripts on the EV server as the Backup SV account does not work However, it says it does if you look at the command run... The .TXT file just sits there, not changing to OLD. The .TXT / .OLD files go fine in terms of deletion / creation in the batch, but after setting and unsetting backup mode, nothing changes, those files do not process and nothing gets set as backed up. It's like backup mode is not clearing and then processing the archive bit file (however, it works as the EV account). The Backup SV account is a local admin of the EV 11 server and also has the role "Power admin" or whatever it's called. The script is in the screen shot as I cannot copy paste and need to redact - also, this shows it saying it was successful... but it's not. ignorearchivebittrigger.exe file still exists. Any ideas? Not sure how it can say it successfully set and unset backup mode without really doing it. Thanks JamesSolved3.5KViews0likes13CommentsEvault Backup mode scripting... Tough Question...
Here is our scenario: We have a large vault enviornment with 4x Vault servers and un-necessarily large amount of data. One of our Vault sites has 20TB of Vault Journaling and Indexing data.We also have 40exchange servers (and the list goes on and on). We use CommVault for backup - we backup sometimes between 200-300 jobs at a time on each CommCell. Here is my issue: I want to use the Evault script to set and remove backup mode based on the current state of the backup mode for that Vault Storage Group. Meaningthis if backup A and backup B both need to use the Pre/Post Scripts beucase they may run independently of each other. Backup A starts at 11:00 PM and Backs up say the index drives or the C: Drive etc. Backup B is schedule to start at 1:00 AM and is set to backup the Closed Partitions. I dont want Backup A's (Job already progressing) to have its backup mode reset by the next Job Backup B's pre/post - but since each job may run at independent times. I need both jobs to be able to set backups modes (on/off) for the evault backup process. I am hoping my question above makes at least some sense. Can any one assist? The thing is we have 10 Different backup jobs. that all run at different times of each other. Thanks, Robert720Views0likes1CommentEvault 10 - Vault backup mode.
We are running evault 10. i suspect that out backup software has been running and backing up vault when backup was not set on the Vault stores or the indexs. I manually set the backup mode while the backup was running when i caught the issue tonight. My question is as follows: 1) What happens to vault if backup mode is enabled when a backup is running? Does it still go into read only mode? 2) What kind of backups can we expect to have if vault is not set into backup mode, and is backed up anyways? Thanks, Robert1.4KViews0likes4Comments
