Backup Exec log files 38GB
We've had an issue with our server due to lack of free space. We've examined the contents of the drive and "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Logs\" is taking up 38GB of space. Can you tell me why it would take up this much space please? More importantly how do i cap it at say 10GB? We are using Backup Exec 2010 R3 on a windows 2007 sbs server. All our backups are backup to disk folders on removable drives and we backup also backup exchange and SQL. Thanks, your help is appreciated ThanksSolved12KViews1like4CommentsProblem with restoring a whole server with W2k8 r2
I have a problem with Symantec Backup Exec 2012. I'm full backuping 2 of my servers which run with W2k8 r2 SP1. For testing purposes I have decided to restore machines in my Disaster Recovery site. Type of machines are the same in both locations. Restoring procedure is performed without problems. Unfortunately when I restart the machine to finish recovery process of Windows OS then appear "blue"problem: "PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED" and system restart. Like with everything in Microsoft problem with blue screen might be various. In most of cases problem is with fileBootcat.cache or with booting procedure. I have checked both scenarios and from my point of view everything is allright. I have even delete Bootcat.cache and repair the boot. Anyway this is problem of Windows. Source of my troubles is restoring procedure in Symantec BackupExec 2012. With other OS like W2k3 there is no problems. I have tried both Simplified Recovery and standard restore on MiniOS earlier installed on server in Disaster Recoveryand both finished with blue screens. All Backup Exec products are up to date. I have issues with Backup Exec 2014 (clean install) on windows 2012 64 bits std. We have a weekly full backup every week and after the recyclable tape come back from the vault, I can see the tape show overwriteable and appendable. The tape status Blue bar is 95% (overwritable 1.3TB), and 5% (2GB) remain appendable. I also check the overwritable media set in the tape are all expried. On the backup exec setting -> storage _> Media overwrite protection level I have set to partial - protect only allocated media. Issues I am facing is during the weekly backup start, backup exec will backup 2GB data to appendable space on the tape and mark the tape overwrite protected instead of reuse the overwritable space. Once the tape been marked as overwrite prtected, the system will not able to write to it and ask me for new tape. Has anyone experience the same issues? What is the resolution?Solved581Views0likes1CommentLiveUpdate Information: There is 4 Remote Agent server whose patches are not up to date.
In the "active warning messages" pane of my Backup Exec 2010 R3 I have a warning: LiveUpdate Information: There is 4 Remote Agent server whose patches are not up to date. To install the latest patches, click on "Extras -> Install Agents and Media servers on other servers". Click there on "Import and Export -> Import servers published on this Media server". This starts a remote installation session which makes sure that your servers are updated with the newest patches present. I am unable to follow these instructions. - I do not have "Extras" to click on anywhere, so I chose the nearest match, "Installation and Licensing > Install Agents and Backup Exec servers on other servers" from the Backup Exec menu. - This opened a new window listing all my clients where the Backup Exec agent is installed, all with the mention: "Currently no updates or upgrades necessary." How can I find and fix the cause for that warning?553Views0likes3CommentsManual Disaster Recovery - Again
Hello, I'm using BackupExec 2012. I have migrated to this version from 10d. Right now I'm updating my Disaster Recovey Procedure before test and I'm a little bit confuse. Restoring server is different to this which I get used to it. Symantec force SDR option. Great things I must said but I can't understand why greent indicator goes off when I deselect directory on my D: drive. There is no system crucial data on my d: drive. Could someone explain me why it is happen ? Most of administrators knows what it should be resotored. The most important issue for me is to use manual disaster recovery. With BE 10d version when I wanted to restore the server I have just marked proper drives and system state during a single job. On BE2012 I can't do this in one time. When I press RESTORE button it appears wizard. First option is to choose FILES, FOLDERS... and second option is COMPLETE ONLINE.... When I press FILES, FOLDERS I'm able to restore all files without system state. When I press COMPLETE ONLINE... option then I'm able to restore system state but without files...madness (SDR is off). Please advice what to do first. Should I firstly restore files and folders and then in second job system state ???Solved588Views0likes3CommentsBackup Exec 2010 small business edition and deduplication
