System Recovery vs. Backup Exec
We have been using / recommending Backup Exec to our clients and are considering System Recovery instead. I found this in another post about this topic. Is everthing correct? Any other comments? Backupexec 2010 a. File based b. Can backup to tape c. Can restore individual email d. Can do bare metal restore to SAME/SIMILAR hardware e. easy to take tapes offsite BE System Recovery (BESR) a. image based b. cannot backup to tape c. cannot restore individual email (restore whole information store from image file) d. can do Hardware Independent Restore e. can be set to backup incremental every 15 mins with almost no impact on performance f. easily import image to VM in case of total failure (i.e. server room fire)
Restore physical Windows machine in VMware using System recovery 2013
Hi, I'm new to Backup & Restore portfolio and trying to get some hands on System Recovery. I've installed a trial version of Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 on my Windows 8.1 laptop and created a entire backup of laptop on USB hard drive in a folder named Symantec Backup. Now using this back up I want to create a Virutal machine in Vmware. Can someone guide me on this.
system recovery locking RDX drive
I'm using system recovery 2013 R2 on a windows 2012 server. this backups to a NAS drive. We've been having issues since installing in June, where system recovery seems to lock the nas drive. the only way I can eject it, is to right click on the drive in computer and hit eject on the cartridge. the eject button on the rdx won't even allow a manual eject. The reason i think system recovery is the issue, is that when i eject the cartridge. system recovery notification by the clock pops up saying that the drive is now unavailable. meaning it must be looking at the drive. I was wondering if i can get it to ignore the drive some how. I have double checked my settings in system recovery and it does not include the rdx drive for the backup. any ideas
Trying to deploy SSR 2013 R2 from server
I am in Symantec management console and I am trying to deploy SSR 2013 R2 to our users. I was able to deploy the management agents, but I can't quite figure out how to deploy the 2013 package to the computers.Ifthere is a good walkthrough of this, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
