When is SSR 2013 Server Edition going to support volumes formatted as ReFS for full/incremental recovery points? BTW the discussion creation form doesn't include "Windows Server 2012" in the dropdown list of Operating systems, only Server 2003 and 2008 is there.499Views0likes4CommentsVCS stop and service group offline quesiton
I have a quick question regarding service group offline. We only want to bring up/down services when we execute hagrp -online/-offline manually. When VCS shutdown, we don't want to bring up the service offline. I know if we freeze it won't go to offline entry. Do we have any other option? For an exmaple, for only we can disable the autostart. Do we have any thing for offline?Solved3.8KViews0likes2Commentshow to create Dedupe Storage Locations using DLO

I'm installing Symantec Vault and i'm aware that as part of the prerequisites it ask for the following permissions on the SQL where the ddbb of the Vault will be created: GRANT VIEW SERVER STATE TO "domain\vsa_account" GRANT ALTER ANY LOGIN TO "domain\vsa_account" You can see here how to create the SQL login and grant the permissions: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO57948 But my problem is that i need specific documentation to justify why Symantec Vault needs such a huge permission as "ALTER ANY LOGIN". My DBA won't give me this permission just like that. I notice that it when doing the prequisites checklist vía the Vault installer it gives a warning indicating that this role is not assigned..i assume it's not so critical because it just warns me (doesn't give an error like other points). What is the impact of not having this permission assigned?. What won't work? Is there any official documentation that says why does it need this perms? (all i saw there was how to grant and howto revoke) Tks!Solved1.6KViews0likes2CommentsPST Import Process And Bulk Import Guidance
Hello I won't say I am new to Enterprise vault - But I am always in learning phase with this product. I am running / administering an Enterprise vault 9.0.1 environment - Exchange 2010 SP1 RU5 Recently, there is a request to do a bulk import for PST files. So I will be running PST locator task - getting PSTs locally on EV servers and then Importing them using PST Migrator service & related tasks. I am reading through Admin guide and trying to understand it at best atm - But I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions in same direction? I am looking for: a. How EV identifies which PST will go to which archives once PST locator task stores them centrally.? (I am assuming it tags from user's workstation itself?) b. Any VB/Powershell script or Config file for PST import or any recommended way how to go about it? c. How much load or resource consuming process is this? like CPU/Memory consumption. d. What will be growth seen on Centera and Index locations for suppose 10GB of PST import? Any other direction you can point me to - Will be appreciated.Solved2KViews1like8CommentsDoubts on VxVM,VCS Upgrade & root disk encapsulation
Hi All, I have the below queries please 1) In order to stop VxVM to load at system boot time, we need to modify /etc/system file. What entries are to be commented out ? Is it only rootdev:/pseudo/vxio@0:0 set vxio:vol_rootdev_is_volume=1 (OR) also below entries are to be commented out ? forceload: drv/vxdmp forceload: drv/vxio forceload: drv/vxspec 2) My current version of SFHA is 4.1. Once vxfen, gab & llt modules are unloaded to upgrade to 4.1MP2, should i again unload these modules to further upgrade to 5.1SP1 and again to 5.1SP1RP4 (OR) 6.0 ? After each upgrade should i stop the services in /etc/init.d and unload modules (OR) stopping services & unloading modules only once is enough to further upgrade to other versions ? My Plan is to upgrade from 4.1---> 4.1 MP2---> 5.1SP1--->5.1SP1RP4 (OR) 6.0 3) Before upgrading should i also stop & unload the below listed modules 24 12800a8 26920 268 1 vxdmp (VxVM 4.1z: DMP Driver) 25 7be00000 2115c8 269 1 vxio (VxVM 4.1z I/O driver) 27 12a4698 13f0 270 1 vxspec (VxVM 4.1z control/status driver) 213 7b2d7528 c40 272 1 vxportal (VxFS 4.1_REV-4.1B18_sol_GA_s10b) 214 7ae00000 1706a8 20 1 vxfs (VxFS 4.1_REV-4.1B18_sol_GA_s10b) If yes, should i stop & unload after each upgrade (OR) doing it once is enough ? 4) Once the OS comes up with native disks (c#t#d#s#), In order to bring it under VxVM control we need to encapsulate using vxdiskadm. My doubt is will rootdg, rootvol, plexes & subdisks be created automatically? Need a little clarification regarding this please. Response is highly appreciated as always, Thank you very much.
