Quantum Superloader 3 / Backup Exec 21
Does anyone have a Quantum Superloader 3 working with the Microsoft "Unknown Medium Changer" driver on Windows Server 2012 R2 with BE 21? I was able to get the loader to work acceptably (unusual problems every week or two) with an older Quantum driver, but following the recommendations in the BE21 manual/technotes, I'm not able to get it to work with the Microsoft driver. When using the Microsoft driver the loader and internal drive are detected by Backup Exec, but as separate devices and the loader does not function correctly like this (no device available, etc. when attempting to perform operations). I did some digging and it sounds like this may be due to Quantum assigning LUN 0 to the drive and LUN 1 to the loader (and I can't find any way to change that). Per the BE manual the loader should be LUN 0 and drive LUN 1... Matt1.8KViews0likes5CommentsBE15 compatibility with BE 21
Hi all My client have BE 3600 R4 appliances with BE15 but it starts the decommision of this devices. Before it decommised the appliance, I need to implement a new BE console over a physical server with Windows Server 2012. My question is, it is possible to implement the new console with BE 21 and restore de backup images created with the BE 15 software on teh appliances? Thanks for your support.1.1KViews0likes3CommentsUpdated to BE21 now certain services won't start.
Background: We have a legacy standalone BE server with two autoloading tape drives attached to it with YEARS of backups. We recently configued a new virtualized server with disc to disc backups in our HC3 (hyperconverged) environment, and used our perpetual licensing on this new server. Naturally, the old server started to complain about lack of licensing recently (it took awhile), and will no longer let us pull data from the tapes. On the advice of a Veritas Engineer I was recently in contact with, we upgraded the legacy standalone server using the trial download/license for BE21. After restarting the server, select services will not start and as a result, the console will not open. (see attached screen grab) The errors are indicative of "failed user credentials" for at least ONE service, and then "dependancy" failures for the rest... but how can the user credentials fail when the other services start just fine? Help me get this working, there must be some legacy settings that need to be removed in order for this new BE21 to fire up properly... I just can't narrow it down.Solved1KViews0likes2Comments
