SMTP Email notifications on a non-standard SMTP port
My ISP recently blocked all SMTP traffic on port 25, so I no longer receive my BESR reports via e-mail. I need to change Backup Exec System Recovery 2010 to use SMTP port 587, but this is not an option in the software. I searched the registry to try and find a way to adjust it, but came up empty handed. I tried using an SMTP server of mail.server.com:587, but that didn't work. I tried changing the default SMTP port for Windows (C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\services) and that didn't work... Symantec - HELP!Solved2.7KViews0likes5CommentsBIOS is not ACPI compatible
Hello all, I've got a problem with the backup exec system recovery disc 2010. When I try to boot with the CD (on USB CD Drive) or USB Key, I have this message : Status: 0xc0000225 Info : Windows failed to load beacause the firmware (BIOS) is not ACPI compatible. A kb on symantec website tells to change the option in the BIOS but I don't have any option about ACPI. http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH57513 I found that the CD BESR is a Windows PE 2.5 (Vista). But the hardware which I try to restore isn't compatible with vista. Is there any solution for this problem like a Windows PE XP ? Thanks.4.2KViews1like12CommentsHow often do you create a new recovery point set (base)?
When defining a new backup job, the default is "Start a new recovery point set the first time the backup is run in a new month". On my servers (Exchange, files, Sharepoint, and 2 DCs) I have chagned this default to "Start a new recovery point set the first time the backup is run in a new week". Which is better in your opinion? What are the pros and cons of each configuration?791Views0likes2CommentsSymantec Installation Manager installing Management Solution issues
After running the SIM from the downloaded Management Solution media, it kept failing to check some file at a solutionsam url. Google'ing turned up I need to click Settings and Change product listing from BESRMS to symantec (default). Once I do this it pops up and says there is a mandatory SIM update and I cannot do anything until I do this. After doing this the only option I have is to Create installation packages, Install new products is greyed out/unselectable. Creating a new installation package just keeps going through the same thing, creates an extractable EXE, extract it, it launches SIM and again only option is to Create installation package, Install new products is greyed out. I have been battling with this a good part of the day, the server passes the checks with all check marks. I've rebooted, updated, uninstalled reinstalled, banged head, cursed Symantec. I need to get this damn thing installed!!Solved2.5KViews0likes7CommentsWin32/Win64 API DeviceIoControl failed.
