Need advice - Unable to re-configure CloudCatalyst on Linux media server
Hi, Need some advice here, thank you. Any idea about this error when configuring CloudCatalyst on Linux media server? The error message is "Setting ESFS name and Local cache directory for xxxx -database system error(220)" which shown during configuring CloudCatalyst using Wizard as screenshot below. I'm trying to re-configure CloudCatalyst to this Linux media server was CloudCatalyst component was removed due to the firewall issue which has been fixed now. However, i could not configure CloudCatalyst on the same server anymore with this error. Could someone face the same problem as well? Thank you.1.5KViews0likes5CommentsConfiguring cloud storage using CLI
Has anyone successfully configured S3 cloud storage (from start to finish) using the CLI? The csconfig documentation (from the reference guide) is not that helpful. It's unclear how the access key and secret are entered, how the disk pool is configured (will nbdevconfig work with cloud storage), and so on. Almost every single document references the GUI but there are statements indicating that the csconfig command can be used but with no decent examples.1.1KViews0likes1CommentNetBackup 8.0 with integrated support for SwiftStack
In December, Veritas released NetBackup 8.0 with integrated support for SwiftStack and the Swift API. Backing up data to private cloud storage using NetBackup is now even easier. Currently using NetBackup to backup servers in a single AWS account to S3 using an IAM user/access keys. This is working fine for backing up to S3 buckets in that account, but there is another AWS account that the NetBackup IAM user has cross acount access to that we want our master server to manage the backups of. The thing I'm trying to figure out is how do I configure netbackup cloud storage to use the IAM user in Account #1 to access/backup to the S3 buckets in Account #2? The IAM user is working just fine and I can access and manage the S3 buckets through CLI from the master in account #1 to account #2, but when configuring cloud storage, it doesn't have an option to say to use account #2's S3 bucket. It only loads the buckets in account #1 or gives me an option to Add Volume which seems to try and create the bucket in Account #1. Is it possible to point it directly to an existing bucket in a different account when the IAM user has cross account permissions or is an IAM user needed for each AWS account being accessed? I scrubbed up an old excel calcutor that some people might find interesting when dealing with deduplication for storage and data transmission between storage devices including cloud(s). Other caculators are avaliable that are backup/recovery centic and will give the amount of storage required that can be feed into this one. Given the prevalence of dedupe most people have a reasonable idea how much can be saved but they usually not aware what happens if the dedupe rate changes. The idea of this calculator to highlight how sensitive data stoage and transmission is to dedpulication efficiciency and less so to other metrics. < more here + download link>864Views0likes0Comments
