Team, If i have a 2 physical sites, exchange servers in both sites I have single EV site covering both the locations. I have 2 SQl severs at each location.so i can use both the SQL servers in each datacenter. Now my question is regarding the SQL DB's.remeber I have a single EV site can Ikeep SQL DB's(VS, FP,Audit,Monitoring)for Ev servers in each datacenres in their respective SQL servers.that is EV servers in data ceneter A will use SQL in DC A and SQL will contain the DB's only for EV servers in DC A and same applies to DC B. OR by design if it is a single EV site,it is only possible that i can keep the above SQL databases in only SQL server and if this is the case should i go for 2 Ev sites ,since i cannot make use of both SQL servers at once.. Pls advice....Solved1.2KViews0likes10CommentsEnterprise Vault Backup takes a LONG time using Backup Exec 12.
Hello all, We are using EV Vault 7.5 and backing it up using Backup Exec 12 with the EVagent. Backup Exec is on the same server as the Vault DBs,but we have a separate SQLserver. My problem is that the Vault backup takes a long time, specifically 13 hours for about 550GB. Within the EVagent almost everything backs up in a timely manner except "EV-PTN::\\%servername%\MailStore01\MailStore01 Ptn1@E:", which is the actual Vault DB. It backs up at around 700-750MB/min. We are backing up to a TL2000 with LTO-4 drive which can theoretically backup at a rate of 400GB/hr. When Ibackup a a flat file to this drive using Backup exec, it backs up at 4.5GB/min. Even other Vault data sets backup in a more timely manner, 2-3GB/min. I think it is just the actual Vault DB that is the one going to slow. Ialso tried backing up the DBto a disk on the server and the backup rate was the same, around 700MB/min. Is anyone else experiencing this? Anyone have any ideas on how to fix? What could be causing the Vault DB to "throttle" or limit the backup to this speed? David2.3KViews0likes14CommentsSQL DB Modified Date
Hi All, Current setup: EV 803 SQL svr 2005 Domino Journaling only I had an issue today where the EV was not seeing the SQL server. I wound up having to reboot the EV server, ran the connectivity test, and everything seems to be working fine. I did notice on the SQL server that the modified dates of the vault databases have not been updated since December???????? I checked the EV reports folder daily to assure the journaling process is working correctly and have no journaling issues since December, till today obviously. Any ideas why the modified date would not be updating?Solved1.1KViews0likes4CommentsArchived Items remain in Archive Pending state
We've just completed the EV (8.0.1) install and started running a test account for archiving last week. The archiving seems to have gone fine but all the emails are still showing in a pending state (" Enterprise Vault-Pending Item"and "This item is being archived by Enterprise Vault") and have remained that way for the past week. Looking at Doc#281339 Scenario 1 it talks about Exchange System Manager needing to be the same on the Vault server and Exchange, but I cannot find in the installation requirements that ESM even needed to be installed on the Vault server. Also does the Vault Store actually need toperform aback-up for the status for the emails to change (scenario #2 of the same document.) ? I'm guessing the lack for a back-up on the storeis the cause but want to confirm the ESM issue.Solved2.1KViews0likes19CommentsMultiple Vault Stores... How many Fingerprint Databases?
I am working on an EV Deployment that will have 16 Vault Stores (thus databases) I thought about spreading these Vault Store Databases over 2 SQL Servers. (8 on one and8 on the other SQL server) If I do this, is there a performance issue in using one Fingerprint Database to doSiS onVault Store Databases that resideon separate SQL Servers? I can also put all 16 Vault Store Databases on one SQL Server along with the Fingerprint Database. Thoughts? Guidance? TY!!697Views0likes4CommentsHow to Verify Journal DVS Files
Can anyone offer advice on an updated version of http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/288714.htm for version 8.0. I'm trying to manually verify the existance of journaled DVS files but am unable to find them after drilling down into the directory based on date format. According to the SaveSet table in SQL they should not be cabbed. I wish there was a tool that would just give me a path of where the DVS file is located. Any ideas?Solved843Views0likes2CommentsEV 8.0 Database out of sync with Vault Stores
Setup: EV 8.0 Windows 2003 SQL Server 2005 SP2 Hi, I had a complete failure of one of my EVservers. I have managed to recover the data after 3 months of trying to find it on messed up arcserve backup tapes (whole other issue) for the Vault stores however I am unable to get the databases to the same point in time. One database is Journaling and the other is a mailbox store. The mailbox store database is only out of sync by +12 hours and doesn't seem to be bringing up any errors in Event log. The journaling mailbox had no valid backup is is out of sync by over a week and as such I get a mass of the following events: EventID: 7116 Category: Storage File Watch Failed to access file 'E:\Enterprise Vault Stores\MANJournal Vault Store 1 Ptn4\2009\09-02\A\114\A114C23413B80C7E767CD8698DB17861.DVS'. Reason: The system cannot find the path specified. [0x80070003] Operation: READ Reference: SDR/LF Is there a way of getting the database back in line. Do I need to go through each of these events and remove the entry from the DB? If so what is the best way of removing these entries from the database? Thanks in advance for any help.Solved906Views0likes4Comments
