is BESR suitable for me?
Hi everyone, in my organization we are purchasing a new servers and we need a good backup software with it, we have about 12 windows server 2008 servers, a SAP system , a SAN Storage and a tape library. can BESR backup the servers and the files from the SAN Storage to the tape library? , and can BESR deal with Oracle Databases? because i didn't find any agents for that. I read that BESR-MS is not compatable with windows server 2008. is that true? Symnatec Backup Exec System Recovery: v 8.5.3.31483 Symnatec Backup Exec System Recovery Manager: v 8.5.3.31946 Symnatec Backup Exec System Recovery Manager Server: v 8.5.2.31871 Hello, I have recently installed BESR Manager and BESR on several servers to be centrally manged. I needed to remove one of the servers and did so by using the "unmanage" option and wanted to re-add it again. I used the original Easy installer packages as well as created new installers (i.e Management Control) as indicated in the Symantec document but the servers still do not appear in the Management console. Any assistance would be appreciated. M1.2KViews0likes9CommentsBESR 2010 server -- a question about the actual size of backup files
Hello everyone, I recently used BESR 2010 server (60-days trial) to carry out a fully disk backup for our server which is on win2003 SBS x32. The server has RAID1 system which is divided in to 3 partitions, c,d,e C drive is system drive, 16.9GB occupied. D and E drives are both storing sql database and some software, both 170GB occupied in total. The backup files are created on to our external harddrive (1.5TB). But when I check the backup folder in which has 3 files, drive_c.v2i (8.9GB), drive_d.v2i (9.4GB), drive_e.v2i(9.7GB), the total occupation of three files is only 27GB ish. Does it mean that BESR 2010 can compress 170GB data to 27GB. Or is it something wrong with my BESR 2010 edition (may be the reason of trial version)? Or other reasons...??? We are currently using a backup exec 12.5 version which has a dreadfully slow speed to do backup, while the 2010 seems to have got improved huge a lot. Please help. We are having an issue with our Backup Exec System Recovery Manager 7.01 database growing very large in size. I was wondering if there was a way to shrink or clean up this database to be smaller, as 30GB seems to be very large. I have looked at some of the database tools in the sub folder of sybase but had no luck knowing which one to use or how to use it properly This is the current file path for the database: E:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Backup Exec System Recovery\Manager\Services\Database\rmdb.db If you have any ideas please let me know. Backup Jobs and groups change randomly almost on a daily basis. I have 25 backup jobs, 10 groups (named after their divisional l unit), 250 computers and 10 servers. Say I bring a new computer into our network and install the Backup Exec System Recovery(8.5.5.33937)+Management Control(8.5.5.34379)(With user interface) from https://myserver:8443/axis/DownloadCenter;jsessionid=379E52B5061A2F06A8B551707BAB7833?type=getinstallers. Then I assign a group and backup job(s) via SBESR Manager. A few days later when I check backup job, properties via the SBESR Manager some of the Groups and backup job have changed. Question: Any Idea what may cause this? Do you have a tool that can be used to clean up our SBESR Manager database? There has been approximately 40 computers removed from our network that were not marked as unmanaged computers. Thanks in advance. -Frank270Views0likes0CommentsSQL writer error: Backup type 5 not supported BESR 8.5.1
