Backup Exec log files 38GB
We've had an issue with our server due to lack of free space. We've examined the contents of the drive and "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Logs\" is taking up 38GB of space. Can you tell me why it would take up this much space please? More importantly how do i cap it at say 10GB? We are using Backup Exec 2010 R3 on a windows 2007 sbs server. All our backups are backup to disk folders on removable drives and we backup also backup exchange and SQL. Thanks, your help is appreciated ThanksSolved12KViews1like4CommentsUpgrading OpenSSL in NetBackup

OpenSSL 0.9.8za OpenSSL 1.0.0m OpenSSL 1.0.1h I have had this issue before. Below is a link to by earlier post asking this question. http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/openssl-use-netbackup-7102 I have had this same issue with Java before. This the Symantec fix http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH148257 This fix is to use the OpenSSL that the OS is using. Is there a way to do this for SSL? I have opened a ticket with support and they don't know anything. They are not able to help me. I recently had fully encrypted hard disk (Toshiba mq01abd075), operating system (Windows 7 Professional), two partition. C (146 GB) and D (548 GB) and 4 GB Unallocated space. I ran the system restore for partition C, after which I was unable to access the operating system. I reinstalled the operating system partition C. I installed PGP WDE, when I entered in the program, partition D does not appear to be decrypted. Partition D appears in My Computer (0 bytes), in computer management at disk management appear 548 GB RAW. If I double click on it ask me for Format, but i've never click Yes, so the second partition was never touch after the problem. After this I reinstalled twice the OS. Now I have windows 8.1 but stil, but still I have not touch the second partition. I've tried to decrypt the drive with a few tutorials such as(WinPE and put the hard disk as second partition): http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH170574 http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH149478 Give me various errors suchs as: "Could not locate valid BGFS record. Recovey failed! Operation recover disk failed: Error code -11984 item not found" or "Disk 1 is not instrumented by bootguard" and others. I know was my fault. Please give me a solution. When running ClearCase on a Hyper-V VM, what are some best-practice considerations when using Backup Exec 2012? What Symantec agent licenses are required for Hyper-V backups? Do agents need to be installed on the VM or just the host? What pre/post command scripts should be run? Are there special considerations when backing up vob repositories? Is file locking necessary when using snapshot technology? Does Backup Exec work well with IBM's Multisite for disaster recovery? ...and any other tips on either CleaseCase or Hyper-V backups.Solved715Views0likes1CommentBackuping up raw device mapped disk attached to a VM client
I need some knowledge: I'm using Netbackup 7.5.0.3 on Windows Server 2008 with a master and 2 media servers that are my VMWare backup hosts. I. - Backing up VM's with attached RDM disk: I've read the VMWare and snapshot client documentation but I'm still a little unclear about how to backup RDM (raw device mapped) disk. From what I read, I have 2 options: 1. - Install Netbackup client within the VM and backup the VM as I would a physical server. (not preferred.) 2. - Create an alternate backup client that has same OS and patch rev (or higher) that has access to the RDM to utilize offhost snapshot backups. My questions are: a. - Why can't I backup the RDM disk with a VMWare policy? b. - Can I backup the OS filesystem with a VMWare policy and the RDM disk with an alternate client so I can utilize offhost snapshots? c. Are there any differences if the RDM disk is physical or virtual?Solved6.3KViews1like5CommentsPorts to open for BE10d and Remote Agent
I have recently had to move my DB server which is a Solaris 9 OS box off ofdomain "A"and on todomain "B". The BE10d is installed on a Windows Server 2003 R2 EE SP2 and still lives on domain "A". The problem is now that the DB server is on a different domain from the BE server, data on the DB serveris not getting backed up. I know that certain ports need to be opened, but I don't know which ones. I think I have seen something about 10000, 6101, and 50000 - 50025. Can someone please help me with this old 10d version since Symantec would rather upgrade me than to answer this question. I'm not going to upgrade this because the hardware is getting upgraded in another 3 to 4 months from now and it would not be cost effective.Solved803Views0likes2CommentsCan I backup just "C" drive with System Recovery 2010?
