Netbackup 7.5 for VMware and DB2 backup.
Hi Guys.... After long time I am creating this thread in NBU forum........... We have the following:- 1. IBM Lotus 8.5 on RHEL 5 (64bit). 2. IBM Content Manager using DB2 9.7 on RHEL 5 (64 bit) used for Lotus Mail Archive. Websphare is used in this software bundle. 3. Two IBM TSM server(In VM ) were used to take Lotus mail backup and DB2 backup respectively. 4. VMware server. 5. A DELL storage server is used for all the VM (VMware datastore) and its in HA mode. Current situation:- 1. There is a IBM TSM (In a VM) taking backup of Lotus mail on to disk. (Disk Based backup). 2. Another IBM TSM (In VM) taking the DB2 backup (Lotus Archive Mail). Now, we were planning to take DB2, Lotus Mail and VMs backup using NBU 7.5. My query:- 1. Can we replace both IBM TSM backup server which was used for taking Lotus mail and DB2 backup. 2. I am not sure that the NBU 7.5 can be used to take DB2 backup and is this DB2 backup will have the entire archive mail. In other word does DB2 backup will backup the Archive mail done by "IBM Content Manager". 3. Is there any restoration issue of this DB2 (Archive mail) on to the IBM Content Manager. What are the pros and cons of replacement of IBM TSM, as this came bundled with IBM Content Manager. Any best practice for this.... Thanks.1.1KViews0likes6CommentsCluster Policy Date, ending with status 1. The requested operation was partially successful (1).

Master/media servers are NBU Enterprise 6.5.4, on Dell PE2950 running Windows 2003 Server R2 X64. After several years of successful traditional Full/Cumulative backups, I have setup three policies with Synthetic Fulls. They all start off OK, and the Diff Incrementals are fine. But the weekly sequence for the Fulls is :- TradOK, Synth OK, Synth OK, Synth OK, Synth OK, nothing! The Diff Incrs are unaffected, though - they carry on as intended. After 4 good Synth Fulls we see no warnings or errors, no bpsynth log, no bpsyn_ entries in bptm log - nothing. I have captured the nbpemreq -predictall output after the Friday Diff Incr just before the missing Synth, and it shows no entry for the Synth that's due - it has obviously forgotten about it - a scheduler problem perhaps. To get started again, I just have to run a Trad Full, then we get 4 weekends of Synth Fulls, then it stops again. Allpredictable andreproducible. Two affected policies are big fileshares (>1TB >2m files) on SAN storage attached to a cluster of Dell NX1950's; the third policy is >100GB >1m files on a typical Windows server. Apart from the number of files, no pattern there. Our retention policy is1 month - maybe that's significant (lastTrad Full imageexpires and disappears over the horizon) Anybody with experience or ideas about this? Hi, We are having an issue were are backups are failing with error code 96, no available media. We contacted support and saw under the scratch pool -> change that the "Scratch Pool" was not checked so we checked the box and the backups grabbed the tapes. Then, this morning we checked and the box is unchecked again. I'm the only one that manages backups for this site so I don't know how it's getting unchecked. I've checked the box and restarted Netbackup services and it still goes to unchecked. We are running Netbackup 6.5.5.
