Deduplication Storage Folder in Undiscovered State
I am trying to setup Backup Exec 2010 on a new server for testing and eventual production. I am trying to setup a Deduplication Storage folder on a dedicated volume (5TB - iSCSI), and everytime I do the storage folder is created sucessfully but I can not use it. If I go to the devices view the folder is marked as "Undiscovered". I have tried running backup jobs to this folder and any job that tries to use it just sits in a queued state. Can someone help me out and tell me what I am doing wrong. I am using a Windows 2008 R2 x64 server, with and EMCAX4-5i iSCSI SAN One other thing that is strange, is that if I look at the properties of the deduplication folder that was created it has different properties than the ones that I specified when I created the folder. The folder location is missing/greyed out, also the logging levels are set differently than when I created the folder. Any help would be appreciated. Hi All, How Do i remove drives from BESR 2010 so it doesn't looks for them, basically I first backed up (as a test) on to a 500GBExternal USBDisk, once that was completed, Ithen used our RDX1000 (320GBCartridges), ofcourse the space was all consumed, so I thought to limit 1 recovery point for each backup and delete the old one setting, but when it got to the next day and the job ran, it was looking f or the old drive and thus failed. Ihope I have explained it clear. Basically I want it to delete the last night's backup before backing up the latest onto the rdx so it has space or the job will fail as the backup job is around 250GB and the disk is 320GB. We will be using RDX1000 with two cartridges, but the drive letter remains the same (F:\) If I format the drive now and run backup it will run fine without errors, I have attached the screenshots for the backup job and recoverypoint settings. Error EC8F17B7: Cannot create recovery points for job: Drive Backup of (C:\), Database (D:\), Logs (E:\). Error EC8F03ED: Cannot create the recovery point. Error E7D1000B: Unable to make directory 'F:/'. Error E7D10026: Unable to get attributes for 'F:/'. Error EBAB03F1: The device is not ready. Error E7D1000B: Unable to make directory '%1'. Details: Source: Backup Exec System Recovery Info 6C8F043D: Recovery point [EXTUSBDRIVE]\BKUP\SERVERNAME_C_Drive001.v2i deleted to comply with the number of recovery points to save for each drive. Dear Symantec Buddy, We have Symantec Backup 12.5 Exec installed server which is working fine... But now we want to shift this Symantec Backup 12.5 Exec to another server. everything is prepared but we want same configuration settings... Kindly tell how to we take configuration backup and restore on new server.
Exchange 2003 Incremementals keep failing with 0xe000035e (but full backups work)
Backup Exec 2010 running on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit Exchange 2003 running on WIndows 2003 server Full backups run correctly (Ihave them running once a month) Incrementals always fail saying "The Backup Exec Agent for Microsoft Exchange was not used to create the last full backup of this database. You must use the Exchange Agent to run a full backup before you run a differential or incremental backup. " The incremental fails at night even when Ihave run a full backup that same day. Nothing else is trying to backup Exchange.
Backup Exec 2010 won´t find tape device
Hello, I have a 2008 server with sp2 X64. Have installed the backup exec 2010 in trial mode. Tape device is a HP DLT 448 ultrium. I have tried installed different drivers and i have got it to be listed under devices but under media the tape icon has a red mark over it. is there any problem with symantec tape drivers on x64 2008? After Reboot the system drops the tape and then suddenly it can find it again. Best regards John Vånemo
SQL reporting running Slowly
Hi All, I currently have an issue with EV 8 SP3Reporting on SQL 2008 x64. after the inital install and config ofEV reporting i am able to connect to the reports and set up subscriptions with no issues. After i close the Page and try and connect again the Reports home page takes forever to open. I have tried re installing MSSQL Reporting Services, recreated the the Default web sites and applied the defaults to them. Recreated the SQL DB for reporting and again running the EVReports config, I get the same results. it opens perfectly the first time it is run there after it is slow. regards Meatball
How to seprate the EV server for PST migration ????
Hi All, I have installedan EV8.0 SP 3 on windows server 2008 for Mailbox archiving & PST migration. I have enabled 500 mailbox for archiving & 3000 need to enable forarchiving. PST migration isgoing onappx. 300 usersPST have been migrated. Now I want toconfigure the one more EV server for PSTmigration. Can someone suggest me thatisit possible ? I read somewhere that PSTmigration task should be run on the server wehre mail archiving is running. If it is possible then please suggest me how can I do that. Thanks in advance. Deepak
