HELP-HOW TO CONFIGURE VVR to two Servers
The purpose of this message is to request support interest in the configuration of two servers (Primary) HP ProLiant DL385p Gen7 virtualized, and a (Secondary) HP ProLiant DL380p Gen7, both with Platform Windows Server 2008, Standard x64 version, 64bit, to be connected for synchronous replication. Currently have installed on both computers Software Symantec Veritas Storage Foundation VSF, V6.0, in where Volume Replicator is an option that we want to achieve for both to maintain a daily backup replication or synchronously via IP network. I shall be waiting for your comments, Best regards, **************************************************************************************************************** El propósito de este mensaje es el interés de solicitarle apoyo en la configuración en dos Servidores (Primario)HP ProLiantDL385p Gen7 virtualizado, y un (Secundario)HP ProLiantDL380p Gen7, ambos con Plataforma Windows Server 2008, version Standard x64, 64bit, conectados, para replicación sincrónica. SFHA 5.1 SP2 , Win2008 64-bit, with sql2008 and disaster recovery configuration with global cluster manager The point is that due to unknown disk error during evacuating a cluster disk, a cluster disk group in the recovery site cannot be imported because of missing volumes. Is there a way of solving this (eg. force import the disk group, and reconfigure vvr rvg group) , or do i have to reconfigure this cluster disk group (VVR and so on) from the beginning ? Hi im new to the product and the field, so really any advice would be great. where exactly do you install VOM in your SAN environment and does the SF s/w collide with the storage vendor management s/w. And how do you control a heterogenous storage with SF Also can someone explain the licensing.SolvedPoor disk write performance
We have a server 2003 R2 machine, which primarily is running as our NetBackup Master server. In addition to this we have a second machine which is/was setup as in a cluster using Veritas Storage Foundations VVR to replicate the data and VCS to handle the application side of things. About three weeks ago we noticed that the disk write performance was very bad. Using a tool provided by NetBackup to write zero's to the file systems, we noted that it would start off fast, and then performance would drop significantly to the point where it was writing about 0Mb/s or 1Mb/s. This is present on both SAN volumes and local volumes. The same write profile is observed. We also see disk queue lengths go up to 130, but no higher than this This is the case on both of the servers running VCS/VSF, but is not present on any other servers running NBU but not running the storage foundation software. There is no VxCache memory config enabled on the server or any disks. All the disks are reporting as being misaligned. Some time ago VVR was disabled/broken and has not been reinstated as we do not have Symantec support on the product, and noone here knows how to use it. So I am reaching out to anyone who may be able to point me in the right direction. I have read the admin guide and it has given me a bit more understanding of the components in the software, but has not provided much in the way of troubleshooting this write performance problem. Today I will run IOMeter to test reads/writes and a combination of both. VSC/VSF version is 5.1 SP11.5KViews0likes3CommentsSFW 5.1 on Windows2008 display wrong disk name
Hi, I installed SFW 5.1 SP2 on Win2008 R2 x64 with the VVR option. The problem I have is that windows explorer show all the disk label name as "Local Disk" whereas in VEA it display them as the internal name of the disk, which is what I want. I have tried changing it through windows, and when I right click and check the properties of the drive, the field for the name is blank even after entering a name and then exiting and return back to it being blank again. Has anyone experience this and know a remedy? Thanks1.5KViews0likes2CommentsRecover MSCS cluster quorum in Dynamic Disk Group
we have SFW w/ Cluster Option and the MSCS quorum is a dynamic volume. OS is Windows 2003 64-bit i'm trying to recover the whole cluster (two nodes) in a DR situation, with different hardware. (assume both nodes are down) we have backup of the OS and quorum disk w/ Symantec BackupExec System Recovery. on the 1st node, after restore the OS, Windows boot up ok. then i reconnect all the shared disks. ok. Then from within Windows, i restore the quorum disk from BESR (but the option "Restore original disk signature" was unable to select - gray-out) - it seems the content are restored to quorum disk. but the Cluster Service cannot start. the cluster.log shows some error about unable to locate quorum disk signature. what is the proper procedure to recover a MSCS when the quorum is on a Dynamic Disk Group? i tried to restore the disk signature using dumpcfgx64.exe and other tools but does not seem to work?! anyone can help? thanks! joseph.Solved1.3KViews0likes2CommentsHow to use local disk on all nodes to configue VCS+VVR+GCO configuration
Hi all: I need a solution, please help, thank you. Environment: Main site windows 2008 R2 + DR site Windows 2008 R2 SFHA6.0 Requirements: Between the two sites do data replication using VVR But our IT system does not have a disk array, we need to use the PC server's local disk storage space do VCS application resource group. But VCS resource group does not support the server's local disk, VCS Configuration Wizard only supports Cluster disk group. What mode of operation can be achieved using PC Server local disk and DR VVR do it?Solved1.2KViews1like2CommentsInstalling Veritas Cluster
