NetBackup - NAS appliance and Offline Backups
Group, Hi, all. We're looking at options for an offline DR backup and were wondering if anyone has tried using a NAS appliance to receive backup copies and then just disconnecting it from the network once the backup completes? If so, what were your results? Thanks, Jason1.6KViews0likes7CommentsDisaster recovery Backup Exec
Hello, I want to ask experienced users how to deal with Disaster Recovery plan for Backup EXEC server. I would like to prepare this plan, but so far all my attempts have failed. We take the condition that I have a single Backup EXEC server that has an iSCSI attached storage that is used as a Deduplication disk. How can I recover from it when the Backup EXEC server itself, which has also been backed up by itself, goes wrong. I can build a new Backup EXEC server, but I can't import a Deduplication disk into it. So if this happens, I have backups, but I can't use them. So is there any recommended way to get to the data and restore Backup EXEC itself from backup? Or is it a good idea to use a different backup method for the server? (Windows Backup, vRanger, etc.)? In this scenario, it would probably not help me to have a Distater Recovery Disk, because it needs to have a working Backup Exec server to which it connects and with which it communicates recovery time. It seems to me like a loop from which you can't come out. :) Well thank you.1.6KViews0likes3CommentsNBU 5230 /usr/openv/db corrupted
hello everyone, there was a power outage in our datacenter and after that my nbu 5230 verswion 2.6.1.2 (master/media) is not working anymore. when i manually start netbackup services with "netbackup start" it gives me this error(attached picture) : /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbdbms_start_stop: line 15: /usr/openv/db/vxdbms_env.sh: No such file or directory NetBackup will not run without /usr/openv/db/bin/NB_dbsrv running also when i browse to "/usr/openv/db" the folder is in red highlight and i cant open it. (attached picture) i dont have any catalog backup other than the one on NBU Appliance MSDP , also i dont have the credentials for the MSDP pool.( i tried show dedup password but it will give me some error ) is there anyway to make this appliance work again? or at least use its MSDP on another Server? Thanks for your help , i really really need it.943Views0likes1CommentPartial Catalog Recovery Process
Hello, I am at a confused state based on the below scenario: got an all disk(appliance based 773) environment replicating to another master server at the DR site. got another master which is an appliance which runs 100% tapes and nothing to disk except the catalog back to the local MSDP on it. this image is getting replicated to the DR master server as well. if I have to perform a DR on both the master servers using the 1 DR master environment, will a simple catalog partial recovery help to import all the images off of the catalog backup along with the tapes? please chyme in if anyone has the experience of partial catalog recovery. I am looking for Backup Exec 15 documenation and guides on proper or best practice DR backup and recovery. Specifically some documentation on using the SDR disk .iso to boot to a server and recover and how that product works. I can find some setup information for it but not sure what it does, how it works, or if it is the solution that I am looking for right now. I need to test my new backups with this software in an isolated environment to make sure they all work and I am having issues finding proper documentation that is not too vague. I have looked online through Veritas' website and some links come up empty just when I think I found what I am looking for. One question about the SDR recovery image, can it be used to choose which server that you wish to recover once you boot to it? Or is is a disk to recover only one server at a time? This link,https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/15047/prepare-for-disaster-recovery.PID_15047.html, is the one I was using and as you can tell, some documents are missing from it. Thanks in advance.791Views0likes1CommentAutomatic Failover
I would like to use Veritas Cluster Server to achieve high availability and automatic fail over for my applications. These application are java applications with some services with the backend databases using Sybase The java applications can be broken into 2 parts : web layer and application layer. The underlying infrastructure will be in RHEL Linux for java applications and database (Sybase) My question is : is VCS supporting seamless automatic failover for the java services including database services without requiring manual intervention ? What i want to achieve is : after i setup active-passive for application layer, i expect the active node to automatically failover to passive node and immediately the passive node become active nodeSolved998Views0likes1Commentdeleting rlink that's having "secondary_config_err" flag

Hi im new to the product and the field, so really any advice would be great. where exactly do you install VOM in your SAN environment and does the SF s/w collide with the storage vendor management s/w. And how do you control a heterogenous storage with SF Also can someone explain the licensing.Solved
