Intel S5500BC Motherboard onboard NIC not found
HI, After our server hardware became unstable we have purchased new Intel Server with S5500BC motherboard. Everything seems to work OK but the SR Restore Disk cannot find the NIC adapter/s on the new system! We are backing up to a Seagate BlackArmor NAS and that side is fine. I just need to connect over the network to be able to do the restore. Running win2003 SBS domain controller with C and D Raid Drives. The existing motherboard is also Intel. I thought that the SRD was old so I downloaded the latest version. No change! The Intel Pro100/1000 drivers are on the SRD so I have no idea what the problem is!! I read somewhere that there was a problem restoring to systems with multiple NICs but we have restored the existing system twice already and it has two onboard NICs. I thought that I would be OK with Intel system but have drawn a blank on this one. Existing system is limping and I need to migrate very soon. Hi, Sure this a noob question, but need to ask anyway. I have completed a few restores to dissimilar hardware but have encountered the same issue for 2like servers recently - Dell 2970 restored too from older HP servers - everything came back up fine - however I no longer have access to a cd drive. The Dells are sata scsiraid perc6i - the cd/dvd is seen in BIOS and I can boot from it - but it is not seen in Windows 2k3 R2 Server OS when loaded.. Dell, so far, are at a loss - drivers reinstalled - sata connections pulled/uninstalled/hardware detected etc to no avail. I have removed drives and checked OEM manufacturer for drives etc, again still no results. no joy in disk manager either. Final note: the hardware manager shows an error in "other devices" RAID Controller but no errors seen in drive categories341Views0likes1CommentBESR 2010 - Baremetal Restore (Disimilar Hardware)
HiAll, BESR 2010, Windows 2008 SP1 X64, Exchange 2007SP1 6 Physical Disks, RAID-1 x 2Physical Disk each, 3 Volumes Presented to Windows, C: , D: , E: , Installed BESR2010 and successfully took the whole backup on a External USB Drive The Test Box is not a proper server but a new Core2QUAD box which has been used for successful restores in the past. Now, when I did the restore on the test box, it restored fine and it boots But after initial it shows "Please wait while windows sets up your computer" It will stay on the screen for a while and then it looks as if its loading windows as it changes from black screen to like the setup screen then a message appears "Please wait while windows continues setting up your computer" It will then stay on the above screen / message for a quite a while, then a message appears windows was unable to setup, please restart windows to re-install. --- Now, Ihad another BESRImage of another machine (Just plain windows 2008 server with no roles) ; when I restored this one on the same machine, after the above messages, excluding the restarting message , it gets me to the login screen and after logging in it does SYSPREP. May be thats why the server image is failing as it has exchange on it and it won't just sysprep or have errrors. How can I backup and in restore anywhere not to include sysprep. I receive the following message when I try to renew an IP address, after installing the network adapter for the Intel 825xx Gigabit (I tried from both the Dell Site and the Intel site with no luck). I am trying to create an image using BESR 8.5 from a Dell Optiplex 760. This is the error: A command line error saying, 'An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The system cannot find the file specified. The operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation' I know that I installed the correct driver, so I am not sure why this error is occuring. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!Solved4.5KViews0likes27CommentsSetting the NIC speed/duplex
Hi, I've created a custom BESR boot CD for my ProLiant servers and have included all the drivers I think I'm going to need. When I boot from the CD everything looks good and I am able to set a static IP address and ping other servers on the network. I am also able to ping the server where my backup images are stored .However, when I try to map a network drive, I get a message "The specified network name is no longer available". When I try to map a drive from the command line using "net use" is get the same message. I suspect that there may be a problem with speed/duplex settings on my nic but when I click on "Set Network Card Speed" the dialog box briefly flashes on the screen and then disappears immediately.Solved769Views0likes4CommentsBESR System Recovery Disk
I am using Symantec BESR v8.5.1, and I have no option to create a custom SRD (System Recovery Disk). I need be able to load custom drivers to a Dell Optiplex 760 (NIC Intel 82567, required .inf e1k5132), and the current disk does not have the drivers on it (checked through the auto-validation utility on the disk). I have tried to load the driver before I start up the Networking inside the current recovery disk, and it confirms that the driver loaded. But when launching the Networking, it fails (no matter which driver, correct or not) with a 'Symantec Recovery Disk: Could not get network adapters'. I have installed the 'CD/DVD Support' option with the custom setup CD. From the some of the other documentation I have read, there should be a 'Tasks' tab on the Main Side Bar of BESR Manager, but it is not present. How do I get the option to create custom SRDs? I'm trying to do a test restore of a PowerEdge 2650 MS2003 Exchange Server to another PowerEdge 2650 with a Perc 3/di raid controller, and the raid disk I've created does not show up in the disk/partition manager, and I cannot perform the restore. I seem to recall having a consulting client with a similar issue that required Symantec sending out a new ISOwith the required drivers. Can someone please contact me to get this done, or provide me with an alternate solution? I've been using this copy of SRS to provide this backup capability for my exchange server for a year or so now, and was not happy to find out I could not restore the machine to another piece of identical hardware. Hi All, I am recovering an image of a server to a VM and it fails right at the end with: Error EA39002E: Seek Error. I looked for this online and found two technotes in relation to this issue with 6.x but I am using ver 8.5 Also I am recovering to Virtual so the driver shouldn't be an issue. The difference between this technote (http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/293205.htm) and my issue is that I am not being prompted for the drivers! Any ideas?
