Hi All, Observed the 7.6.1 client binaries downloaded from symantec file connect having not all client binaries. The download contain two files NetBackup_7.6.1_CLIENTS1.tar.gz & NetBackup_7.6.1_CLIENTS2.tar.gz. Even if we extract individually or join and extract also not resulting all client binaries in the directories. Anyone used 7.6.1 clinet binaries, please share your ideas.Solved5.5KViews2likes9CommentsORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text: VxBSACreateObject: Failed with error:

Hi, I'm currently doing some test for a project that the client is going to use NBU with data domain boost. We tried and sucess to backup data to DD boost through NBU, however, I can't establish the connection between NBU server and DD. Even the NBU server is visable to DD, NBU server wouldn't be able to mount the DD and see it on the device manager. Have search the NBU compatibilty matrix on http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH59978 but I couldn't found the compatility of NBU and DDOS. 1) Can someone share the experience of using DDBoost over FC with NBU? 2) We are suspecting this is the compatability issue between NBU and DDOS, would that be a case? We are currently testing on Win server 2008 R2 with NBU 7.6.1 and DDOS 5.5.0.1. Best, BrianSolved4KViews1like3CommentsConfiguring or getting dbclient log name
Hi, I'm trying to automate SqlServer Backups by executing from control-m, which is a 3rd party schedule software. To do this, I have created a .bat file that call the Netbackup exec file (dbbackex.exe). I use this code to do this: echo "Starting SqlServer Backup on %COMPUTERNAME% " > C:\backuplog.log "C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\bin\dbbackex" -f C:\bcktest.bch -p nopr_bdd_msql_all -s back -np >> C:\backuplog.log echo %date% %time% >> C:\backuplog.log echo "Backup Finished " >> C:\backuplog.log IF %ERRORLEVEL% GTR 0 echo "Backup Finished with ERROR [%ERRORLEVEL%]" >> C:\backuplog.log IF %ERRORLEVEL% EQU 0 echo "Backup Finished SUCCESSFULLY" >> C:\backuplog.log echo "Review log file: C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\logs\user_ops\MsSql\Logs" >> C:\backuplog.log I would like to get the ERROR message, not only the code, using this script and if not possible, get dbclient log name to complete the last line and show something like: Review log file: C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\logs\user_ops\MsSql\Logs\0714115143814-55584-20776-000-000-prg Does anyone know if this is possible and how could I do this? Or is it possible to configure de path and logfile name? Other posibility I'm thinking of is manage error codes on my own, but I would need Error code list and cannot find it. Does anyone know if this exist? I would accept any other suggestion to get error information. I cannot use any other code but cmd/bat. Hi We usually have Vault run on mondays, but for some reason i had to run this on wednesday this week. It only copies the full backups which runs on Fridays, so i changed the amount of days it needs to go back in order to get theese full backups. I added 3 additional days to it. I had around 63 empty tapes in scratch before i started the Vault. Today morning i saw the Vault job, and it had failed with error code 306. I did some research and figured that it failed because there were no media left in scratch. Usually vault does not use more then 20-25 Tapes pr vault session, so wonder why it used all 63 of them still wanting more. Only reason i come up with is that i might have screwed it up when editing amount of days it goes back to get hold of all the full backups. It was set to 3 days and 6 hours, so i changed it to 6 days and 6 hours (basically added 3 days). So it might have gotten some full backups even from thursday. We usually run full backups only on fridays, but we might have some full backups running even on thursday. When trying to eject the tapes of this particular Vault session, it only shows 3 Tapes, meaning that it never managed to end the jobs on rest of the 60 tapes. I ran the following command on some of the media ID which i had in scratch prior to start of Vault session: nbemmcmd -listmedia -mediaid <media_ID> and here is the output: (notice that i have removed some of the sesnsitive data from this log) NBEMMCMD, Version: 7.6.1.2 ==================================================================== Media GUID: d82d47e0-360a-11e5-8000-e7571c8337b0 Media ID: 100805 Partner: - Media Type: HCART Volume Group: 002_00000_ACS Application: Netbackup Media Flags: 1 Description: --- Barcode: 100805 Partner Barcode: -------- Last Write Host: < removed > Created: 07/29/2015 13:59 Time Assigned: 07/29/2015 15:36 First Mount: 07/29/2015 15:44 Last Mount: 07/29/2015 15:44 Volume Expiration: - Data Expiration: - Last Written: - Last Read: - Robot Type: ACS Robot Control Host: NONE Robot Number: 0 AcsAcs: 0 AcsLsm: 2 Cleanings Remaining: - Number of Mounts: 1 Maximum Mounts Allowed: 0 Media Status: FROZEN Kilobytes: 0 Images: 0 Valid Images: 0 Retention Period: 8 Number of Restores: 0 Optical Header Size Bytes: 1024 Optical Sector Size Bytes: 0 Optical Partition Size Bytes: 0 Last Header Offset: 0 Adamm Guid: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 Rsm Guid: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 Origin Host: NONE Master Host: <removed> Server Group: NO_SHARING_GROUP Upgrade Conflicts Flag: Pool Number: 6 Volume Pool: Offsite Previous Pool Name: scratch Vault Flags: - Vault Container: - Vault Name: - Vault Slot: - Session ID: - Date Vaulted: - Return Date: - Media on Hold: 0 ==================================================================== Apart from thoose 3 tapes which it had written successfully to, rest of 60 media ID returns with same result, basically having no valid image on them and in a Frozen state. Dear All, The bplist command lists all you want, and exactly all you ask for (even not being aware of it), as 1E100 counts problems are not rare. Basing on the already noticed and described cave-eats (short summary): https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/bplist-exit-status-227-no-entity-was-found Remember to choose policy type, if not you are using type == 0 (not Windows, not SQL, not Oracle etc...) https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/bplist-command As above and provide date range. Nice list of NetBackup policy types http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH27299 bplist detailed syntax description http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO43668 I would like to propose a set of "golden rules" for bplist command: 1. Always specify policy type (-t). 2. Always provide relevand data range (-s, -d). 3. Mind the listing recursiveness (-R) as it may be too verbose when you just put the "/" or it may not show anything for non-file like backup types. 4. Provide as many other details as possible to speed up the search. Template for good examples: bplist -C <ClientName> -S <MasterServer> -t <PolicyType> -k <PolicyName> -s MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM:SS -e MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM:SS -R / That may result in something like: bplist -C MyClient -S MyMaster -t 4 -k OraclePolicyName -s 08/08/2014 08:00:00 -e 09/09/2014 08:00:00 -R / Hopefully I will find this article prior loosing few hours solely on bplist syntax refresh ;-)2.6KViews2likes2Comments
