Exchange 2016 CU5 Support
Recently Microsoft released Cumulative Update 5 for Exchange 2016. This update made significant changes to the Mailbox Database structure. When CU5 is applied to Exchange 2016, Backup Exec is no longer able to restore individual items from a GRT-based backup of Exchange 2016. If restoring individual items is important to you, you may want to wait to apply CU5. If CU5 is applied, the current workaround should you need to restore individual items is to restore to a recovery database and then use the tools in Exchange 2016 to restore the individual items. The Veritas Backup Exec team is currently working on a fix to address this issue and will release an On-Demand Patch (ODP) as quickly as possible. Backing up Hyper-V exchange server
Hi. I have an Hyper V host on it I have my exchange server (virtual). I wont to backup it in that way that iw will be posible to restore the exchange vhd if needed and restor a specific mail from any of my exchange data bases. Is it posible? Wht is the best way to do this? thanks a lot.
Restoring emails from backup Exec 2010 fails
I have been tasked to recover some emails from an old tape based backup created with Backup Exec 2010. I have spun up a VM of SBS 2003 as this was what the backups were created on. I've set it up with the same domain details as the original server (that no longer exists). I've loaded up backup exec 2010 R3, inventoried and catalogued the tapes. Tested restore of files from drives stored in the backupsand all is fine. Restore completes without issue. Ican see the microsoft exchange mailboxes in question on the backup. One of the mailboxes in the backup has a warning x symbol on it and its status is 'corrupt or contains corrupt items'. All the other mailboxes appear with the status 'normal'. It is one of these 'normal' mailboxes that i want to recover some emails from. I start a restore job, select the emails, Set the settings in backup exec under 'exchange' to automatically recreate user accounts and mailboxes', dismount the database before restore and commit and mount database after restore. I then start the restore. The job then fails with the following error: 'A checksum of the data has failed.' I am wondering if the whole exchange database is corrupt in the backup. My question is, how can i get the exchange database 'out' of the backup, so i can try and run some utilities on it to recover the emails? Many thanks Matthew

Finded: GRT backup of Exchange Information Stores to TAPE fails with error: "VFF Open Failure. This can be caused by low memory or disk resources." https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100001258 But I can't create: Key : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VirtFile Value: VFF Extended Timeout Type: DWORD The Maximum value is (Decimal) 600 seconds. Start out at 240 seconds at first. If error still occurs then 480, before going to 600. Restart all the Backup Exec Services for the changes to take effect. Hi, We have Backup Exec 2014 V-Ray and two hyper-v virtual machine with Windows Server 2012 R2. On first machine is installed Exchange 2013 with 3 virtual disk: 1 - System, 2 - Database, 3 - Logs. On second machine is installed SQL Server 2012 with 3 virtual disk: 1 - System, 2 - Database, 3 - Logs. This is my configuration for backup job for this two virtual machine: Is the above configuration is correct for these applications? Is BackupExec 2014 correct backup SQL Server i Exchange with multiple virtual disk ? Will the integrity of the data be retained after the virtual machine has been restored? THX
Exchange db backup goes fine but restore shows empty arc/db
Hi, I am having problems restoring emails using the restore function.The backup of the email server goes perfect and all databases are backed up, when i check the disk and catalog i see all databases are backed up however i cannot browse the selection. However when i try to restore emails or email folders it doesnt show anything when i expand the database, it just waits and gives a Error 95. I remember having this issue in the past which was solved by a hotfix (cant remember for sure) however i already installed the patches and hotfixes. Can anyone tell me what i can do? No correct exchange backup can be a big problem.
Exchange 2016 and BE 16 VSS Errors
Hello Everyone, we have the strange Problem, that our Backup Enviroment for our Exchange has a problem that every 5-7 days the VSS-technique stops working. We have 16 Databases on a 2 Member-DAG. 8DBs on every Server aktive, 8 passive. The setting is to backup the passive Database. In view of Exchange the Database is mounted, but the BackupExec failes with Error: "The Database is not mounted" Auftragsprotokoll: BEX_WUPBACKUP03_27834.xml Sichern- wupms02.riedel.net V-79-57344-34070 - Snapshot: Initialisierungsfehler auf: "Microsoft Information Store". Snapshot: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS). Snapshot-Fehler (0xE0008516): Die für den Snapshot angegebene Datenbank wurde nicht gesichert, da die Datenbank nicht bereitgestellt war. Weitere Informationen finden Sie in der Windows-Ereignisanzeige. Sichern- \\DAG01.riedel.net\Microsoft Information Store\EDB-big-2 V-79-57344-759 - Fehler. Kann weder Verzeichnis Database noch die dazugehörigen Unterverzeichnisse sichern. The funny is: when you reboot the Exchange-Servers it works for 5-7 days.. Has anyone an idea?
