Granular backups for Exchange failing
Granular backups used to work just fine. Now for the last few months it appears that they are not working correctly anymore. The detailed status on the backup jobs show the following warning: "Warning bpbrm (pid=5296) from client DAG01: WRN - unable to setup NBFSD credentials, disabling granular backups". The job completes, but with a status of '1' and obviously granular restores are not available when trying to restore using that backup job. I have searched and searched and the only things I am finding on the internet relate to setting up NFS. I have verified that NFS is setup correctly. So this is not the issue. Any ideas about what the likely cause may be? Netbackup 7.5 Exchange 2010 running on windows 2008 r2 ....using a DAG.Solved4.2KViews1like5Commentsneed help concerning GRT duplication error
Hi all, please can you help me in the below error: really I dont understand why that happend? everything was running fine and the problem happend out of sudden.. my configuration is as follow: I am having two mailbox servers (clustered); mailbox01 and mailbox02. I am having a GRT policy that I use to backup individual mailboxes. for this GRT policy I created a storage unit DAG-GRT unit that contains two staging disks each disk is mounted ( connected) to its server (i.e. disk01 is connected to mailbox01 and disk02 is for mailbox02). when i run the GRT policy, backup images are created successfully from both server to the staging disks, but duplication is always failing on mailbox02 disk; i.e. I can't relocate my mailbox02 image to tapes! meanwhile duplication is always successful for mailbox01. master server is a Solaris 10 X64 NBU master server version: 7.0.1 clients version on mailbox01 and mailbox02: 7.0.1 the error that I am getting is the follwing: 16:22:30 Duplicate started Wed Oct 12 16:22:27 2011 16:22:30 Activity monitor job id = 10146 16:22:34 INF - Destination storage unit mailbox02-hcart-robot-tld-0 on host mailbox02 16:28:11 INF - db_IMAGE() failed: database system error (220) 16:28:11 INF - Status = no images were successfully processed. 16:28:11 INF - Duplicating policy DAG-GRT-daily schedule GRT-Sched backup id dag_1318417585 copy 1 created on 10/12/2011 14:06:25 on source path P:\netbackup-mail02-grt 16:28:11 INF - Duplicate of backupid dag_1318417585 failed, database system error (220). 16:28:11 INF - Status = no images were successfully processed. appriciating your help anyone. many thanks in advanceSolved1.7KViews1like8CommentsNetbackup client installation issue - PBX not starting

We have seen this issue posted already but have been unable to resolve. We are using NetBackup v7.6.1 and have a couple of policies (with identical settings) to backup a number of VMware virtual machines. One of the policies has a problem when trying to select individual files for restore. Like the others it is type VMware and 'Enable file recovery from VM backup" is selected/ticked. Backups are completing successfully every day for this policy (snapshot and backup), over 1.1 gb written). We only get this error for this policy and only when selecting "Restore from Normal Backup..." NetBackup 7.6.1.2 VMware vSphere 5.5 StoreOnce 4500 with OST PlugIn 3.1 Since it was announced inthis article, we are waitingthat the HP StoreOnce supports the Accelerator option with VMware. Iinitially the VMwareAccelerator support was listed in the NetBackup HCL. We tested it and it didn't worked. Later we have seen thattheVMwareAccelerator entry was canceled in the HCL documentation. Regarding to the latestNetBackup Hardware Compatibility List, the Accelerator in use with the HP StoreOnce works for the normalfiles and folders backup and for VMware only with the following restriction:Accelerator with VMware-type policies and GRT with VMware-type policies are not supported together for this solution. Disabling the file recovery option for VMware backups is not an option. I'm writing this post now because I noticed in the User Guide (attached to this entry) of latest version of the HP OST Plugin 3.1.2 the following screenshots to set up a VMware accelerated backup policy: We have not yet updated the OST plugin to testthe functionalityof the VMware Accelerator.I just want to ask on which documentation we can rely? And if there are somefuture plans to fully support the Accelerator for VMware option with the HP StoreOnce? Hi I have a couple of issues with SLP duplication from disk to tape. 1. As far as I can see, the duplication job requests and is granted a tape drive and a tape before the cataloging of the mailboxes starts, but the cataloging doesn't write anything to the tape. After cataloging the job again requests resources, on which the image is written. Why is the duplication job requesting resources it doesn't need? 2. When there are more than one image in the duplication job, the duplication of the first image is successful and the second and following images fails. The failing duplication's succeeds in later duplication jobs. Hi all, Recently, our company has implementedMS Sharepoint system for file sharing purpose. We have anothercentralized backup server implemeted using Netbackup 7.6. The mentionedSharepoint system is also madeuse of thecentralized backup server to backup the database records. However, the implementation vendor reported that database recovery cannot perform intransactional basebut only a full recovery at the time of backup can be done. Our configuration is listed below for reference. Backup Server: Windows 2012 Server withNetbackup 7.6 MS Sharepoint system: Sharepoint 2013 with SQL Server 2014 I have found afootnote underNetBackup Database and Application Agent Compatibility List which state as follows. "SharePoint databases are not supported if the SharePoint server is configured to use a SQL Server 2014 instance." I just want to know if there is any workaround so thattransactional base recovery forthe above configurationcan be done. Otherwise, is there any roadmap on the mentioned Sharepoint configuration to be supported in the future release of Netbackup? We're planning to move to an Exchange 2013 DAG from our current Exchange 2010 CAS/Mailbox server setup. We're using NBU 7.5.0.7 with GRT to backup our Exchange 2010 environment; it's working great. I see from this forum posthttps://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/exchange-2013-and-grt that asof NBU 7.6.0.3 and up, Exchange 2013 is supported with GRT (allowing for single-item restores). My question is, has anyone been able to restore from an Exchange 2010 GRT backup into an Exchange 2013 (will also be GRT-based) environment? I thought I would ask here before contacting support. Thanks in advance, Michelle1.9KViews1like10Comments
