Hi All, I havea query, Today found a server in which CPU utilization was high upto 95%. When checked on the server, found many BPBKAR process were running there. That was obvious because backup for that server running, Is there a way we can minimize CPU utilization while "BPBKAR" process and backup keep running ? Means without affecting backup, can we make CPU utilization normal. Please advice and suggest...Solved16KViews1like6Comments"EXIT STATUS 25: cannot connect on socket" while initiating a restore.

Hi all, I'm experiencying the same issue ashttps://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/heavy-load-emm-db-high-cpu-utilization... with NBU 7.1.0.4 on hpux master server and having a lot of jobs starting but going to queue state showing "Waiting in NetBackup scheduler work queue on server ..." I noted that NB_dbsrv is consuming 100% of CPU... I do not have a big EMM_DATA.db file as you can see below: ebrbsnp05 >> find /nbdb_catalog -name EMM_DATA.db /nbdb_catalog/data/EMM_DATA.db ebrbsnp05 >> ls -l /nbdb_catalog/data/EMM_DATA.db -rw------- 1 root sys 51531776 Aug 15 12:26 /nbdb_catalog/data/EMM_DATA.db ebrbsnp05 >> du -k /nbdb_catalog/data/EMM_DATA.db 50324 /nbdb_catalog/data/EMM_DATA.db ebrbsnp05 >> But I'm having 100 active jobs and 140 queued... all of the queued jobs are "Waiting in NetBackup scheduler work queue on server <master server name>" I have opened a case with Symantec but it looks like they have not a clear understanding about the issue. Have you finally got a solution for this case? How does the nbdb rebuild/reorganize that mph999 suggested above work? Did this help? Have you tried this? Let me mention that I tried to perform this rebuild/reorganize yesterday, but I got an error while trying to take a backup of the nbdb vefore to do the first rebuild (I tried to take a backup of the nbdb just to be safe)... see below what I got... I'm receiving the following error Segmentation fault (core dumped) when trying to perform a backup of the NDBD... could you please give us a hand? We are using NBU 8.1 with 800-900 linux clients and 500 Windows clients When I look at the certificates, A few hundreds will expire in 170-180 days. To be able to continue the backup, to extend the life of a certicicate, we generate a reissue token from the GUI, copy the authiorization code (manually, copy/paste doesn't work), connect on the client and execute "nbcertcmd -getCertificate -token -force". It works, but if we have a few hundreds systems to update, we need something that could be scripted and executed from one point. Is there a solution in 8.1 for this problem ? For technical reasons, we cannot upgrade to 8.2 (We backup OpenVMS systems with NBU and 8.1 is the latest version with a support for this OS).5KViews0likes3Commentsremove a backup client completely
I did see some decommissioned clients still show up on "host properties" as clients. whatare the full steps we should follow up to completely decommission a client with less system impacts. We usually do: 1. run a last full backup if we can catcha moment. 2. remove it from backup policyes. Should we also do: 1. remove NBU software if the client still alive? 2. remove it from any NBU configuration files? 3. restart any NBU services? 4. what shouldwe prepare on this time in case for a furture restore if we have to? thanks in advance!Solved4.6KViews0likes2CommentsVM backup failed with error code -20 (invalid command parameter)

Hi All, I have a requirement to change expiration date for all backup image in catalog to infinite. I aware by backup ID, Media ID or client name we can do the changes but i want to have a single command that change exp date to infinite of all backup images in the catalog. Before I used bpexpdate -recalculate -client clientname -d infinity -force, here i want to know this command could have changed the expiration date to infinite for all backup images of the client specified or not ?. Most of images we have in disk storage i.e on DD. If there a command to change all images to infinite in DD by specifiying the storage unit name or diskpool ..etc also would be helpful. Also want to know the different between image and media expiration.Solved4.2KViews0likes10CommentsA pending action is associated with the resource request. User intervention may be required
