Sharepoint archiving - re-indexing crawl in Sharepoint
Hi everyone. I just wanted to pick everyone's brain about something. Say we archive a few TB worth of Sharepoint documents and they all get replaced by shortcuts. My understanding is that during its re-indexing crawl, the Sharepoint server will reach to every archived document on EV and bring it over to be indexed (I am not talking about EV indexing but rather SP indexing). I guess an incremental crawl is not a big deal, but every once in a while Sharepoint needs to perform a full crawl, which means a few TB worth of data will be pulled from EV and dragged across the network back to the Sharepoint server for indexing purposes. I can't see how this is feasible. The full crawl will take weeks and may kill the network.Solved510Views13likes2CommentsMigrate Exchange to new domain requires access to archives
I have an EV mailbox archiving server and anexchange server in domain Aand recently installed a newExchange server in domain B. Domain B mailbox are being archived over the Cloud. I have recently migrated few mailboxfrom Exchange in domain A to new Exchange in domain B but would require these migrated users to access their archives sitting on EV server in domain A. If I understood correctly, all I need to do is toaddthe domain B Exchange in to EV in domain A, create a provisioning task (but no archiving task as this mailbox is being archived over the cloud)for it? What is the best bractice for implementing EV in such below environment. I have two main datacenters and one disaster recovery datacenter. One of those MS exchange server is located in main datacenter as two mailboxes databases with DAG and two CAS/HUB with network load balancing (NLB). Hello, I need to move a public folder database from Exchange 2007 to another Exchange 2007 server mailbox. Once the database moved I followed the below article to reconfigure EV for the new Exchange server. But somehow I can not access archived items on the public folder from Outlook however, I am able to access vaulted items from Archive Explorer and also able to access non archived items from PF. I wonder if I missed any other steps. http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH54271&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1381251256701 cheers,865Views3likes6CommentsRemoving all Enterprise Vault shortcuts (9.0.2) in preparation for Office 365
I am tasked with removing all our staff's shortcuts in their mailbox in preparation of moving them into Office 365. We have a policy that a shortcut is created after an email is archived and that shortcut exists in the user's mailbox for 1 year. Currently I created a mailbox policy to delete these shortcuts but I cannot remove all of them, I still have to leave 1 day. Any ideas / experience in removing these shortcuts?Solved957Views3likes4CommentsRetiring Enterprise Vault Environment
We have moved to another archive solution and are ready to decommision our sole EV server. User emails were all exported back into Exchange and shortcut/stub emails deleted. Individual archive mailboxes were disabled in EV. All EV services and tasks stopped. Is there anything further we need to do? Everything takes place on the EV server, so there's no connectors or services to remove from the Exchange servers themselves, correct? We can now just retire the server, its DB and volumes? Thanks,Solved792Views2likes2CommentsExtracting Enterprise Vault Archive Data
Hi All, I'm new to Enterprise Vault and I'm having a little trouble putting together an implementation plan for extracting emails out of an Exchange/EV environment using .PST files for import into a brand new environment on a new domain. So far I have come up with the following rough idea: Disable archiving across all mailboxes to prevent any further transfers of data Export all archived mailboxes to individual .PST files and import into new environment Delete all archive stubs from Exchange mailboxes to prevent future conflicts Export all Exchange mailboxes to individual .PST files and import into new environment I was hoping to get some comments on this plan. It might be that there is a far simpler solution that I'm not aware of. The idea of restoring all mail items to their original location is not an option due to capacity reasons. Also, I've been having some trouble researching a method for completing step 1. There doesn't seem to be any way of disabling Enterprise Vault other than setting the archive policy to only capture emails older than 1000 years (or something similar). Am I mistaken here? I would have thought this would be an easy task. Any information would be greatly appreciated!! - ScalliSolved3.8KViews2likes11CommentsEV 11 Support: Windows XP SP 2/3 + Outlook 2003 SP2/3 + EV 10 Outlook Add-ins
Hello, I am doing an upgrade at a customer site from EV 10 to EV 11. My customer has some legacy endpoints with Windows XP SP 2/3 + Outlook 2003 SP2/3. As per the the compatibility charts, EV 11 Outlook Add-ins are not supported on Windows XP SP 2/3 + Outlook 2003 SP2/3. Will Windows XP SP 2/3 + Outlook 2003 SP2/3 AND EV 10 Outlook Add-ins be able to access EV 11? Cheers Cameron MottusSolved637Views2likes2CommentsWill Enterprise vault support SQL TDE
