Migrating PST creates multiple Calndars in outlook
we've recently been rolling out enterprise vault for excahnge version 9 throghout our environment. it iahs integrated with our systems really well and we've only had minor issues I've now reached the tedious and painful stage of migrating existing pst files into the new archives. this worked effectively in trial/test, now i'm picking up the server stored PST files held in the head office of our organisation and our users are reporting strange behaviour with their caendars: we've chosen to import shortcuts from PST files to a folder called "legacy archives" and then to place each archive seperately (not merge) this creates a tree structure containing the archvied calendars from the original PST file, all seems fair so far except that, if a user browses their calendar they can see all of these calendars and there is no way of diferentiating between these. (see attached). i'v tried to hunt around and find a way of importing the archived calendar entries (PST files are being deleted afterwards so caldendar entries must not be ignored). we cannot have our users opening multiple calendars and making entries into the wrong one, nor do we want them to be confused by the sight of many calendars. what do people usually do to prevent this from heppening? Move archive in different EV directory?
Hi, i have a EV 9.02enviroment with100 users and 400 GB data in Physical HW (this physical HW will be shutdown after this process) i have to migrate existing old EV environemnt to new virtual 2012 environment.I will install EV 11.01 latest version(without HW migration process) what is your advice for move archive feauture for carrying old archived data to new EV server? my new server ready to installation.but if i install new binary with new directory name and new site name ; then i have 2 different EV server witin same domain.i can move archives old EV server archives to new one? or what is your other suggestions? -installing under same directory ; can couse problems when deleting old Ev server? - 2 different directory and 2 different site name is better ?then move archive for 80-90 user (i know that move archive works slowly..) can i work with 2 different EV server within same domain? i can see other ev server name in mpvearchive wizard easly?(no need to trust because they are in same domain) thanks...3.5KViews0likes8Comments
Virtual Vault not removed from Outlook...
Hi, Here is my problem: I would like to disable archiving for some ~500 users and delete theirs archives from EV 9.0.2. The problem is that Virtual Vault is still always present in Outlook folder tree and users are able to browse the vault cache. How to remove it for 500 users? Here is what i did (step-by-step): 1. Disable archiving for users from EV console. 2. Synchronize Mailboxes 3. Remove users from the Provisioning group 4. Run Provisioning task 5. Delete archives from EV 6. Enterprise Vault - Moving Accounts between Domains / EXCH Servers
I have a configuration whereby I have two Windows domains (A & B), each with an exchange 2010 environment (X & Y). I have users in Domain A using exchange on server X, and over time I will be migrating them to Domain B using exchange on server Y. I have a single EV9 environment which is currently archiving Exchange Email from both Domains / Exchange Servers. As I move a user (from within AD/Exchange) from one domain/server to the other - will EV keep 'track' of this and keep the archive associated with the user when they move from one domain to the other, or have I got to perform tasks within EV to reflect this movement of users between domains/servers? EmailXtender migration for a small site
I have a customer that wants to migrate from EMC EmailXtender to Enterprise Vault. Is there a Symantec approved method for doing this rather than resorting to an expensive solution like Transvault? Does export to mailbox wizard change modified date?
Does the export to mailbox wizard change the modified date? Because of difficulties (possibly network, possibly exchange, possibly AD)we are doing a clean install of EV11 rather than upgrading EV10. We only have a few mailboxes being archived. We want to move the archived items back into the mailbox. The obvious choice is the export to mailbox wizard. When an archived item is restored using the add-in the modified date is changed to stop it being archived immediately. We want to check that the export wizard doesn’t do the same thing. How to plan the solution, can they integrate with existing archived mail if now how they will access old archived mail which is residing on EV10. Suggestion are appreciated. Hi Guys I was looking for some guidance or assistance regarding issues we have been having getting our EMC VNX5800 nas integrating with EV 10.4 FSA. We are moving away from Windows file servers, and looking to move our company files to a NAS cifs share, and also create EV archive stub file ( without pass through ). We have successfully following the steps and commands below from Veritas, however we cannot add the NAS share inas a "new file server" in the EV console. Hello, I tried to access EVS from an iPad running Safari yesterday. You can browse EVS and download attached JPGs. However I was unable to download attached PDFs. I double checked the SCL and I could not find explicit support for iPad Safari with EVS. During a Symantec event about 18 months ago I was introduced to EVS. The presenter had given me the impression that EVS was built to support mobile devices. So, is Safari on iOS supported? If not, are any iOS or Android browers supported for accessing EVS?
