Licensing question
Hi there, We need to procure backup exec license for one of our server. Would like to know which is recommended option. Anyone who have idea about licensing , can you share some ideas here. This is our backup environment, *One Master /Media physical server connected to Tape drive. (Dell R730) *One VM running on Vmware/Hyper-VM (not decided yet) need to be backed up. (2TB monthly full backup) Backup policy: Full backup - 2 month retention (4TB capacity) Daily Differential - 1 month retention _______________________ Do we need One backup exec Server license and one Backup exec Agent license, anything for tape drive? or capacity based license for 4 TB will be beneficial. Can someone provide the exact location where in the portal you must go to request the Not For Resale partner keys? One is for SYMC BACKUP EXEC 2014 ESSENTIAL PROTECTION SUITE FOR BE 3600 APPLIANCE BNDL STD LIC ESSENTIAL and the other is for SYMC BACKUP EXEC 2014 ESSENTIAL PROTECTION SUITE FOR BE 3600 APPLIANCE I/O ESSENTIAL. Appliance 3600 Upgrade to Backup Exec 2014
Hello, i been waiting on the appliance upgrade for a while now, we have to migrate all servers to windows server 2012 R2. But without upgrading the appliance first we wont be able to backup our production servers. I been reading on the forums that it would become available in september... Now we are september, is there any ETA for when backup exec 2014 for appliance 3600 gonna be available? Hi, There appears to be an unnecessary level of confusion, here in Australia at least, about Backup Exec multi-year SKUs. Two key Symantec tools aren't correctly generating the multi-year SKUs for backup Exec, for new licenses, renewals or upgrades. The two key Symantec tools getting the SKUs wrong are: The Symantec SKU Genertaor: http://kdw.knowledgedirectweb.com/symantec/symantec2.html The Symantec Margin Builder: https://marginbuilder.partnermarketing.com/ In all cases, when selecting a multi-year Backup Exec license product (new, renewal or upgrade) the SKUs generated are always multiples of the 12 month SKUs, which end in El1ES. What should be generated are the multi year SKUs ending in El2ES (for 24 monthe) or El3ES (for 36 months). I have tried talking to the channel, my Symantec contacts (numerous they are) as well as trying to contact channel marketing personnel on Symantec Connect, who have posted in the past about the Margin Builder site. However, all my attempts at getting this fixed are met with pointing fingers, shrugs of shoulders or, quite rudely unprofessional, no response whatsoever! If you guys can't get your SKUs right in your own partner and channel tools, after repeated reports of the failures, what does this say about your company's approach to QA? This is why Symantec's products are suffering. Your organisation is suffering from some pretty serious disfunction at the moment, with everybody behaving like teflon and not taking ownership or responsibility for things. I apologise for the rant and for being somewhat brutally frank about my perception of this situation, but I am finding dealing with you guys increasingly frustrating. Backaup exec appliance 3600 CASO
Hello, I have a stage 4 Appliance Backup Exec 3600, all 4 are currently in production with jobs properly, I would like to set one of them as CASE and the other 3 as slaves. These changes do not mean you have to start again with jobs, no?, Changing the configuration of applainces all information will be maintained, no? Hi there! Hope you can help me, one of my customers have Symantec Protection Suite Enterprse Edition FOR ENDPOINTS 4.0 per user, but I have been looking for its renewal license with no luck... (One of the components inside it is Altiris Inventory) Is this license already EOL? What description or product name should I use for this renew?
