LiveUpdate (3.3.0.69) stops downloading after 3500 KB within Backup Exec 2010 MP1 (13.0.2896) => LU1835: Connection to the LiveUpdate server failed
Dear All, I have a really strange problem with the LiveUpdate (3.3.0.69) for Backup Exec 2010 MP1 running under Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (64bit). After a clean installation of the server with the OS and a clean installation of Backup Exec 2010 MP1 (13.0.2896) the first thing I tried was to run the LiveUpdate. It directly connects to the Symantec Servers... ... and find all the necessary updates. If I proceed with a click on "Next" it starts the download but stops always exactly after 3500 KB... ... after some seconds the error message LU1835: Connection to the LiveUpdate server failed appears. I'm connecting to LiveUpdate via a Proxy Server. I already added http://*.symantec.com and http://liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com to the Trusted Sites within Internet Explorer I already checked the articel "How to determine whether your firewall is blocking LiveUpdate" with the result that everything is fine and nothing got blocked from the firewall I already increased the time for time-out value for HTTP downloadswith the result that the error message LU1835 will be displayed later. I also already uninstalled LiveUpdate, rebooted the server, made a clean installation of LiveUpdate and run a repair of Backup Exec without any further result. If I try to download ahotfix smaller than 3500 KB (like Hotfix 354911 with ~ 3,1 MB) it works fine for that hotfix - but no luck for any (single) hotfix > 3,5 MB At the same time a LiveUpdate runs fine via the same network/same proxy on a Windows Server 2003 R2 and Backup Exec 12.5 installed on it. Here it's e.g. no problem to download SP4 (> 100 MB) for BE12.5 via LiveUpdate, so this is why I do not believe that the problem is related to our internet connection. Any ideas as I'm running out of them...? Kind regards, SGSolved3.7KViews1like37CommentsLiveUpdate does not work with BE V12.5

Good evening all, I am currently researching regulation in community/citizen scientist biotechnology and the difficulties involved with regulating an industry once it is in the hands of the citizenry, and lately I have been considering a slightly different approach that could potentially avoid this problem. I have been drawing from examples in the computer industry (especially for the open-source trend) and remembered Symantec's response to the Conficker virus. My understanding is that there is a group of programmers (forgive my ignorance, this is not my field at all!) that try to prevent viruses and respond to them as soon as they are discovered. Is there a site at which I could access the specific policies under which these programmers operate? How about strategies (I know there is an instant update system in your antivirus tool, and I would imagine a notification system should I come across a truly novel virus that updates the information to these programmers, or is my speculation incorrect?). There are some specifics I would like to compare with the possibility of implementing a "task force" of a similar nature in dealing with human viruses and biological threats posed by certain extremist groups. Last week I upgraded one of our database programs. Since then I have realized there was also an automatic update from MSinstallec, hotfix 2055 for SQL2000. I am not sure why that hotfix was installed as I am running SQL2005, not 2000. I attempted to remove it, however it informed me I would adversly affect 30 other programs so I decided not to go that route quite yet. To make a long story short, BEcan no longer backup any of my SQLdatabases, not just the one Iupdated. I get several errors, but the latest is that the database is in use. I can run the backup just fine in the SQL enterprise manager, so it has something to do with BEand SQLworking together. Has anyone seen this in the past week? Any suggestions where to start? Hi, I can't figure out why Live Update isn't updating for Norton 360. It says "Your Norton product has the latest protection updates,"but at the main page it says my definitions are not up to date.I'm not getting any error messages that indicate what exactly the problem is. I read somewhere that re-installing it is necessary to fix this problem, however I'm not sure if I wish to do so because according to the license, it states that Ican install it on two other pc's. I think it's a bit of a waste to re-install it just for Live Update. Unless re-installing doesn't count? Is there a patch or something that specifically fixes this problem?Or do Ihave to change my settings? I have never touched any settings before and it was working. If Icould have help, I'd greatly appreciate it, and I'm sorry for choosing the wrong product if I did. Thank you in advance.Solved1.3KViews1like8CommentsLiveUpdate! feature disturbing our Backup! I upgrade from Backup Exec 2010 toBackup Exec 2010 R2, but when I run LiveUpdate, it shows both products and pulls down updates for both. The updates for BE 2010 fail and the ones for R2 install fine, but I'd like to not have BE 2010 in the list. I am sure that BE 2010 is no longer installed. Is there a way to remove it from the LiveUpdate product list? Thanks, RichSolved1.1KViews0likes6Comments
