Multiple Platform Internet Browser Support
There is something I don’t understand about the compatibility for Internet Browser support on multiple platforms in conjunction with Microsoft Exchange OWA roadmap in supporting multiple Internet Browser versions such as Firefox, Chrome and Safari. Why would Symantec not build support for multiple Internet Browsers or even have a Mobile Device App for iPhone, Android, Windows Phone. I think the Enterprise Vault community would receive such a compatibility with open arms. I know I would! It will give multiple solutions throughout the company for customers with Apple workstations or other platforms where Microsoft Internet Explorer is not supported. My question is: Why not? When? Are there BETA plugins to test? Thanks and regards,Solved1.2KViews0likes3CommentsVaulted emails and delegations
Hi. We have users who receive delegation to other users emails. Our domain policy is vaulting the emails after 90 days. When the user goes into the vaulted emails that have been vaulted under someone else's username, they are not able to download the attachments. It seems like the text is viewable, but not the attachments - which is a big deal because a lot of what we do is being emailed to us in either pdf or jpg format. We are using Ent Vault v10.2. Even when the user is given the permissions on the exchange server for delegation AND permission to open the vaulted item, they still cannot get the attachment. Has anyone else seen this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated!Solved708Views0likes1CommentEV for Mac 10.0.2.1057 login failure
I'm running OS X 10.8.2 and finally got to attempt authentication thanks to the release of EV for Mac 10.0.2.1057. Unfortunately the logins are failing. My credentials are correct. I found http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH165380 but I'm not clear on whether that's my problem or not. Strangely enough we do have a newly established one-way trust to another forest. I'm not crossing that though. My account is in the same domain as the Exchange servers and my mailbox. Does the mere presence of a one-way trust cause this issue? Any news on a forthcoming fix for the issue described on 165380? I have an iMac running OS X 10.7.2 The EV Client is 10.0.0 And I'm running Outlook 2011. The computer is on the domain. I'm using network login. My corporate email is added in outlook. I am able to log in to the Vault Client but as soon as I click back into Outlook, the EV Client fades to gray and prompts me for a password again. Any Advice? Let me know if you need more details or i need to talk to someone else.Solved889Views0likes4CommentsMac EV can't open shortcuts created by PC EV
I'm piloting the use of Mac's in my company's enterprise, and have come across a roadblock in EV integration. Our email backbone is Exchange 2003, and we use EV v9 to archive old emails. I've installed the EV v9 plugin on several Macs (OS 10.6.7) running Entourage 2008 (latest version), but I'm completely unable to use the plugin to restore an email which was archvied by my PC (running Outlook 2007, EV plugin v9). I select an email which I know to exist in the vault, click restore in the EV toolbar, and I get an error message stating "Unable to restore because you have not selected any archived items" Any ideas? I've confirmed that the EV plugin is connecting, as I can send an email to the EV archvie on my Mac, and confirm it's archvied on my PC. Searching the archive via the EV toolbar, and then restoring an email from the archive via the web interface both work on the Mac, but this is a cumbersome workaround. I tried rebuildign my entire Entourage cache in the hopes that would fix my issue, but no dice. The EV plugin is either not recognizing the 'stubs' in my Entourage Inbox as EV shortcuts, or it can't seem to use them .. adny advice woudl be greatly appreciated!Solved996Views0likes3CommentsEV via OWA gets worse for Mac users
At our site we have a lot of Mac users. Now while EV access by OWA using IE has always been pretty good, none of the Mac browsers (which always used the Light version of OWA) have been brilliant. But it was usable. What happened was then when you double clicked on an archived item in the message list, it retrieved and opened the full message, in a form which was no different as any other (unarchived) message. You could forward it, reply to it etc. In fact, you could not even tell it has been archived apart perhaps from a slower retreival. Of course there were no EV buttons, no way to search the archive etc. Most users found this satisfactory if incomplete. That was the situation with OWA2003 and EV8. We have now started migrating to Excahnge 2010 ( and upgraded to EV 9). I actually hoped for an improvement as the Mac browsers (e.g. Safari and Firefox) can now get the full version of EV. OWA2010 is greatly improved on a Mac. But access to archived messages has got a lot worse. Now when you double click on an archived message, you only get the shortcut stub returned (the same as you see in the preview window). Yes the user can still get to the original items, by clicking on the "View the original item" link in the stub. But this then requires a seperate logon, and only gives the "view" version of the message - no reply or forward buttons. If the user wants to reply or forward they first have to do a restore - a rather clumsy way to do something which was previously so simple. I know that OWA access on a Mac to EV archived items has never been supported by Symantec, but it did used to work. Does anyone know of a workaround for this situation which can recreate the previous behaviour? Maybe not, as the whole access model had to change with 2010, but i thought it was worth asking before I get lynched. Greetings, We are evaluating Enterprise Vault (EV) File System Archiving (FSA) for our organization. We are currently using CIFS to connect from Linux and Mac systems to Windows file shares, and with many different version of Windows to the shares. Does FSA work in this environment? If so, could anyone point us in the right direction to white papers, blogs, etc. describing similar implementations. Hi All, We are running Enterprise Vault 9 and have no problems with PCs. We have a number of MAC clients who are running Entourage 2008. I have installed the Enterprise Vault client for MAC but it does not seem to do anything. Users can login fine to the client but when they click Restore the email is not restored. If they click View it opens a blank email. Has anybody had any success with the MAC Client? CheersSolved471Views0likes1CommentWe NEED Better Support for Macs!
We are a predominantly Mac-based organization. We have perhaps 800 Macs in service. Mac OS versions range from 10.4 through 10.6.x. We currently run Entourage 12.x and 13.x. We run Exchange 2007. Symantec Enterprise Vault is woefully behind on support for current versions of Mac OS and Entourage. Symantec EV does not yet support 10.6 ("it's coming" is the promise) or Entourage EWS (13.x). Both have been out for a year. This is completely unacceptable. Apple is getting ready to relase 10.7, probably in January 2011. Microsoft is getting ready to relase Outlook 2011 for Mac. We can assume support for each of these products will take at least a year. If Symantec can't get it's act together to provide a fully-featured client for the Mac OS and the standard Exchange client, in a teimely manner, can we at least have a OWA extensions and archive explorer for non-IE browsers??????739Views0likes6Comments
