Netbackup and 3PAR
I'm looking to use NBU 7.5 to handle our VM backups in our infrastructure which uses 3PAR F400 for storage. I've checked the compat lists and it looks like some elements are compatible but some are not. Can anyone offer advice on this if they are either currently using this setup or have came across this before? The infrastructure is all W2K200x and we would be looking to do integrated backups of Exchange and Sharepoint as well as the usual file data. Hi all, please can you help me in the below error: really I dont understand why that happend? everything was running fine and the problem happend out of sudden.. my configuration is as follow: I am having two mailbox servers (clustered); mailbox01 and mailbox02. I am having a GRT policy that I use to backup individual mailboxes. for this GRT policy I created a storage unit DAG-GRT unit that contains two staging disks each disk is mounted ( connected) to its server (i.e. disk01 is connected to mailbox01 and disk02 is for mailbox02). when i run the GRT policy, backup images are created successfully from both server to the staging disks, but duplication is always failing on mailbox02 disk; i.e. I can't relocate my mailbox02 image to tapes! meanwhile duplication is always successful for mailbox01. master server is a Solaris 10 X64 NBU master server version: 7.0.1 clients version on mailbox01 and mailbox02: 7.0.1 the error that I am getting is the follwing: 16:22:30 Duplicate started Wed Oct 12 16:22:27 2011 16:22:30 Activity monitor job id = 10146 16:22:34 INF - Destination storage unit mailbox02-hcart-robot-tld-0 on host mailbox02 16:28:11 INF - db_IMAGE() failed: database system error (220) 16:28:11 INF - Status = no images were successfully processed. 16:28:11 INF - Duplicating policy DAG-GRT-daily schedule GRT-Sched backup id dag_1318417585 copy 1 created on 10/12/2011 14:06:25 on source path P:\netbackup-mail02-grt 16:28:11 INF - Duplicate of backupid dag_1318417585 failed, database system error (220). 16:28:11 INF - Status = no images were successfully processed. appriciating your help anyone. many thanks in advanceSolved1.7KViews1like8CommentsNetbackup using SAN / Filer snapshot to backup VMWare VM
Hello, I'm trying to find a way to use my Filer (NetApp) snapshots to do VMWare VM backup instead of VMWare snaps. The idea is to use netbackup default features (like VRay) to do a regular granular VM backup, but instead of using VMWare default Copy-On-Write (performance cost), I would like to use a SAN snapshot (with correct quiescing). It looks like I should use replication director, but I don't know if I can use something easier (I don't need to replicate or mirror data, just need to backup to dedup volume, thencopy to tape). Any idea ? Any one using it ? BTW, if I use NDMP, is netbackup able to catalog the files ? Is Search working with a NDMP image ? I am having an issue where our Journal Log DB fails when trying to backup. After looking through NBU logs and Activity Monitor, it seems like the culprit is GRT. I currently have one Exchange policy that does a backup of the entire DAG. My question to the community is, 1. Do I have to enable GRT for Journal Logs or any log database for that matter and 2. Would it be wise to just create two policies, one for the Mailboxes and and another for the Logs? I am running NBU 7.1.0.4 across the board and all GRT pre-requistes have been installed and configured on the master, media and client servers.455Views0likes1CommentClearing out the Program Files\Veritas\Netbackup\Temp directory
Our environment: Netbackup servers running version 7.0.1 on Solaris 10 64 bit Exchange servers running on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit DAG setup with 2 nodes, active copies on both nodes Our Exchange Administrator is claiming that Netbackup doesn't clean up Program Files\Veritas\Netbackup\Temp directory when the backup runs. is that a concern or should I take a look at this issue? this is what they said Symantec told them.. is this acurate? is this directory suppose to be updated or clean up every time the backup starts? the issus we are having is that backup fails on one or two databases (full backups) or sometimes Netbackup skips one out 30 databases. Suspected causes are NetBackup has not been consistently clearing out the Program Files\Veritas\Netbackup\Temp directory. According to information from Veritas, files left in this temp folder can cause backup failures. Any help or comments are appreciated.
