Backup Exec log files 38GB
We've had an issue with our server due to lack of free space. We've examined the contents of the drive and "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Logs\" is taking up 38GB of space. Can you tell me why it would take up this much space please? More importantly how do i cap it at say 10GB? We are using Backup Exec 2010 R3 on a windows 2007 sbs server. All our backups are backup to disk folders on removable drives and we backup also backup exchange and SQL. Thanks, your help is appreciated ThanksSolved12KViews1like4CommentsNetbackup and 3PAR
I'm looking to use NBU 7.5 to handle our VM backups in our infrastructure which uses 3PAR F400 for storage. I've checked the compat lists and it looks like some elements are compatible but some are not. Can anyone offer advice on this if they are either currently using this setup or have came across this before? The infrastructure is all W2K200x and we would be looking to do integrated backups of Exchange and Sharepoint as well as the usual file data. Hi all, please can you help me in the below error: really I dont understand why that happend? everything was running fine and the problem happend out of sudden.. my configuration is as follow: I am having two mailbox servers (clustered); mailbox01 and mailbox02. I am having a GRT policy that I use to backup individual mailboxes. for this GRT policy I created a storage unit DAG-GRT unit that contains two staging disks each disk is mounted ( connected) to its server (i.e. disk01 is connected to mailbox01 and disk02 is for mailbox02). when i run the GRT policy, backup images are created successfully from both server to the staging disks, but duplication is always failing on mailbox02 disk; i.e. I can't relocate my mailbox02 image to tapes! meanwhile duplication is always successful for mailbox01. master server is a Solaris 10 X64 NBU master server version: 7.0.1 clients version on mailbox01 and mailbox02: 7.0.1 the error that I am getting is the follwing: 16:22:30 Duplicate started Wed Oct 12 16:22:27 2011 16:22:30 Activity monitor job id = 10146 16:22:34 INF - Destination storage unit mailbox02-hcart-robot-tld-0 on host mailbox02 16:28:11 INF - db_IMAGE() failed: database system error (220) 16:28:11 INF - Status = no images were successfully processed. 16:28:11 INF - Duplicating policy DAG-GRT-daily schedule GRT-Sched backup id dag_1318417585 copy 1 created on 10/12/2011 14:06:25 on source path P:\netbackup-mail02-grt 16:28:11 INF - Duplicate of backupid dag_1318417585 failed, database system error (220). 16:28:11 INF - Status = no images were successfully processed. appriciating your help anyone. many thanks in advanceSolved1.7KViews1like8CommentsExchange 2010 Backup : Updating Catalogs Very Long
When backing up Exchange Server 2010 it appears to backup the data with zero issues. However, it takes 20+ hours to run a Differential backup due to the length of time it takes to update the catalogs. This was an issue for us in the previous version of Backup Exec 2010 R3.The issue was not consistent though. For instance; in 2012 we had an issue inlate July andearly December. Theissue in July seemed to correct itself? The issue from December is still ongoing. The backup rate is at about 282 MB/min. Whereas while updating catalogs runs at about 1 MB/min. This definitely appears to be the issue as the entire backup is less than 10GB. The full backup runs normally and does not take an extended period of time while updating catalogs. For all Exchange backups we are running GRT. Any help would be greatly appreciated.4.3KViews1like18CommentsSetting up direct access san storage Backup exec 2012 and Equallogic san

I have had intermitent issues with one of my Exchange servers backups failing. Both servers are Exchange 2010 SP2 w/rollup 3 Only difference is the server with issues has Server 2008 Stnd SP2 (NOT R2) some nights backup is fine, and sometimes the backup fails within a minute with error e0000391 - Backup Exec attempted to back up an Exchange database according to the job settings. The database was not found, however. Update the selection list and run the job again. and sometimes it runs about 45 minutes and errors with e000038d - Backup Exec could not back up the Exchange database because it could not find a healthy copy of the database. the remote agent is up to date on this server. It also will fail if I try to run it after it fails. I have found in the server event logs when it fails immediately Event ID 9782 - Exchange VSS Writer (instance 8afeae75-cdeb-4042-ad45-642c11cbd610:37) has completed the backup of database 'Mailbox Database 1786741976' with errors. Shadow copy instance aborted.
We have a problem with Backup Exec 12.5 when running a Exchange incremental backup. (Exchange Server 2007)Usually it completes successful, but in the last two months it has failed 5 times. Before that it never has failed. When we manually start a new run, it works fine. And it also usually works for a couple of weeks, before it encounters the error again. We get error code: E000FED1. It seems to have something to to with VSS. When I check Event Viewer I can see that it seems to backup "First Storage Group" successful, but when it move on to "Second Storage Group" the following happens: 2013-02-07 20:08:57 - Exchange VSS Writer has prepared for backup successfully. 2013-02-07 20:09:01 - Shadow copy instance 108 starting. This will be an Incremental shadow copy. 2013-02-07 20:09:01 - Exchange VVS Writer has successfully prepared the database engine... 2013-02-07 20:09:01 - Exchange VVS Writer has prepared for Snapshot successfully. 2013-02-07 20:09:01 - Information Store.. Shadow copy instance 108 freeze started. 2013-02-07 20:09:01 - MSExchangeIS.. Second Storage Group: Shadow copy instance 108 freeze started. 2013-02-07 20:09:04 - Exchange VSS Writer has frozen the storage group(s) successfully. 2013-02-07 20:09:32 - Information Store.. Shadow copy instance 108 freeze ended. 2013-02-07 20:09:32 - Error - Information Store.. Shadow copy instance 108 aborted. When I compare log above with a log from the day before when it completed successful, the diffrence is only the aborted-row. Of course, when successful, it didn't abort but instead the log reads: "Exchange VSS Writer.. has thawed the storage group(s) successfully." The time between "frozen.. successfully" and "freeze ended" logsis just 5 seconds in a successful backup, but in this failedbackup, it's 28 seconds. Could it be a timeout error? Greatful for any ideas about what is causing this failure.1.9KViews1like4Commentspurging permanently deleted items from Exchange 2010 after backup
I am using BackupExec 2010 R3 and Exchange 2010. Full backups are taken weekly with a daily incremental. When looking at the output of Get-MailboxStatistics , I have noticed that the value for TotalDeletedItemSize is only growing. I believe this value is not the Deleted Items folder in the mailbox, but items that have been permanently deleted (i.e., shift-del or items deleted/expired from the Deleted items folder). I thought that when a Full backup was run that these deleted items would be purged. Am I wrong? Or is something broken?Solved638Views1like1Comment
