What is the highest version of Backup Exec System Restore for SBS2003?
Hello all, I have an SBS2003 with BESR v8.5. I like the software, but MS is telling me the drivers included in v8.5 can cause system instability. We are considering an upgrade if available. Thanks, -JohnSolved702Views1like2CommentsSSR 2011 - can not restore running system
We have a Hyper-V server HOSTA (Windows Server 2008 Std SP2 x64) with 2 guests SBSA (Windows SBS 2008 SP2 x64) and APPSA (Windows Server 2008 Std SP2 x64). Both SBSA and APPSA have Symantec System Recovery 2011 (Build 10.0.0.39952) installed, and backup to share on HOSTA and Offsite to a FTP location. The Offsite location has HOSTB (Windows Server 2008 R2 Std SP1 x64) with Symantec System Recovery 2011 (Build 10.0.0.39952) installed. When the Restoring SBSA or APPSA it fails every time in all ways we have tried: Convert sv2i to Hyper-V VHD fail: Converts ok, then on start of VM guest runs the mini setup, then updates, then randomly reboots. after that we receive the stop 7b error, But the data on the .vhd can be mounted and accessed. Create Hyper-V guest and use System Recovery Disk fails: Towards the end of the restore a "Recover My Computer Wizard" box pops up with the message: Error EBAB0013: A test that safeguards the integrity of the program failed unexpectedly. CHECK failed, Can::ReadFileFrameReal: .\Can.cpp(826): Read Failure. Error EBAB0013: A test that safeguards the integrity of the program failed unexpectedly. CHECK failed, Can::ReadFileFrameReal: .\Can.cpp(826): Read Failure. with an Ok button that takes you to the menu screen. Convert to VMware Server Disk fails: The convert stops at 99% with 3 seconds to go (With or without "Run Windows Mini-Setup") Convert s2vi using VMware Player 3.1 fails: Very slow reading the s2vi file and then I enter the password and straight away I get the error from VMware Player: Failed to open virtual machine: Failed to query source for information. We have tried a One off recovery point on-site and taken it to the off-site location and receive the same issues. A convert to vhd of APPSA on APPSA: converts ok, moved to HOSTA. on boot of the restored guest APPSA we receive: Windows Boot Manager Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2. choose your language settings, and then click “Next.” 3. click “Repair your computer.” If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. status: Oxc000000f Info: Windows failed to load because the NL5 data is missing, or corrupt. I just updated all my servers with BESR 8.5... it's working fine except for one thing... Granular restore 8.5 is not able to open "Exchange Mail"... I always get the following error : ************************** (i) Make sure that the volume which contains 'N:\First Storage Group\Mailbox Database.edb' was selected for backup (ii) Try selecting a different Storage Group ************************** I get the same problem with all my databases... if I open the same backup with Granular Restore 8.0 (previous version), it's working fine. what can be the problem? should I contact Symantec to get this resolved?3.2KViews0likes51CommentsSQLVDI Errors on Win2k3 x64 SP2 with SQL Express 2005 fully patched.

Allo f my CLients Exchaneg 2007 servers are running as VM Guest sin ESX 3.5. I am tired of the dysfuntional and insconsistant backups we get from BUE (12.5 w/advanced disk). Would I be better off using BESR with granular restore than BUE? the client are not large enough to justify the Symantec VM Backup agents.343Views0likes1CommentNo c:\backup information or Exchange Information File found (CCRCLUSTER)
Hi I've read a few threads on similar problems, so not sure if this is unique or just another problem to add to the pile.. I have a CCR 2007 cluster running and get the usual unable to open message (like a lot of other folk). However I dont even see a backup information folder on any of disk backups (c: has exchange binaries, e: logs, f: the dbs) let alone the exchange information file. So i think i'm really stuffed in getting this to work. Any ideas? Does anyone know if it supports CCR clusters ok? TIA....205Views0likes0CommentsUnable to find the Exchange Information File (EIF)
I have installed the trial version of the "Symantec Backup Exec Recovery Granular Restore option". It is version 8.5.1.29668 and it is installed on Symantec's Recovery Server version 8.5.1.29666. Server is 2003R2 Standard Edition SP2. The image data is backedup on a network external drive (western digital) from which I can restore without any problems. On the server I had installed Outlook 2007 which I removed and installed Outlook 2003. However I always get the same error whrn I attempt to open an sv2i image. It finds the file, however when the window "loading Email...." loads, the application tries to mount volume images with NO luck and get the error Unable to find the Exchange Information File (EIF)1.2KViews0likes7CommentsGranular Restore Option (8.5) not showing all server disks (and preventing mounting of Exchange)
I have a problem with a new build of BESR 8.5 with GRO where it only seems to load the C: drive of the server loaded with the sv2i file. For example I have C:, H: and I: drive on my server and each of the v2i files are created successfully. However, GRO only mounts the c: drive. Further, in the case of my exchange server when I try and mount the message store via the Exchange mail option (where data I: disk), I'm getting the error "unable to locate backup copy of a storage group" with the details "make sure the volume which contains 'i:\program files\exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.edb' was selected for backup".766Views0likes7CommentsBESRO 8.5 vs. BE 12d + Exchange Agent in backing up Exchange Server 2007
Hi, I'm just confused of which one is performing better for my situation, I've got this configuration: Windows Server 2003 Std R2 SP2 x64 (Domain Controller) Exchange Server 2007 SP1 Std (HT + CAS + MB Server) if I install BESRO 8.5 into that server and performing full backup every day, would that be sufficient enough to backup Exchange Server 2007 ? or is there any difference with installing BE Agent for Exchange 2007 into that Server and performing the backup ? because at the moment I'm doing the backup with onle NTBackup utility without committing the transaction log at all ever since installation. Thanks.Solved549Views1like2Comments
