NDMP backups failing
I have an ancient tape backup sysytem that I use as a redudndant data backup for my Netapp FAS2020 filer. It has worked flawlessly for 7 or 8 years, until a controller on the Netapp crashed last week. It was replaced and is running normally, and supposedly the same config was applied as prior to the crash. But ever since then my backups have been failing with Error Code E00846B: (Server: "DOCULEX") (Job: "NDMP-Policy 0001-Daily Backup") NDMP-Policy 0001-Daily Backup -- The job failed with the following error: The resource could not be backed up because an error occurred while connecting to the Backup Exec for Windows Servers Remote Agent. Make sure that the correct version of the Remote Agent is installed and running on the target computer. If the server or resource no longer exists, remove it from the selection list. Edit the selection list properties, click the View Selection Details tab, and then remove the resource. I have deleted and recreated the items in the selection list, tried two different logons to the device, rebvooted teh media server, ascertained that the media server can ping the Netapp. I am at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.1.1KViews0likes2CommentsNDMP NetApp Backup Error - 0xe0001309

Hello everyone. I have a Unity 300 that stores a NAS server. I want to backup using the NDMP feature to a robotic library. The problem is that I can not select the NAS using Backup Exec. I add the NAS server using its IP address, then I can see the name of the file system. However, I can not selec it. That's how it looks: I double click /Design but nothing, I can't select it and as a result, I can't click OK. "Not selections were made" it says. If I use the windows explorer I can access to the NAS. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.Solved1.1KViews0likes2CommentsDuplicate deduped NDMP backup (block-level) to cloud?
Hello, we have a Backup Exec (16 FP2) job which backups data (mostly vm images) from a NetApp to a deduplication storage via NDMP. As it is a file-level-based backup and the data of the vm images changes rapidly, no real incremental or differntial backups are possible. Is it possible to duplicate this deduped backup-set to a cloud storage (as offsite-backup) on a block-level base, so that incremental backups can be used and the data sent can be reduced? And can I use this duplicated backup to restore (single files) back directly to the NetApp or do I have to restore it first to a local storage and then back to the NetApp? Thomas2KViews0likes5CommentsIncremental backup backs up too many files.
Hi Experts, I am new configuring NDMP backups and I have the following problem: I configured NDMP for a Hitachi NAS, but although the backup jobs end successfully, the incremental backup is affecting the backup window because Backup Exec 16 is backing up many files, around 300,000 which does not make sense in my environment. I appreciate if you can make some recommendations. The current configuration is: Full - Level = 0 Incremental - Level 1 (Backs up new or modified files since level 0). Best regards!1.5KViews0likes4CommentsRestore NDMP Tape to Windows
I have Backup Exec 2010 R3 installed on Windows 2008 R2. This is our legacy tape backup solution before we went to a disk based system. I have hundreds of tapes and keep Backup Exec around for old restores. We used to have a NetApp with CIFS shares and backed them up to tape via NDMP backups. The NetApp has been replaced with a new Nimble SAN. I am trying to do a restore of files from the NetApp tapes. Since I don't have a NetApp anymore I am trying to restore to a Windows box. I get the error below. How can I restore NetApp NDMP tapes to a Windows system? e0001315 - An invalid destination was specified for the redirected restore. NDMP backup sets can only be redirected to an NDMP server of the same brand.Solved5KViews0likes6CommentsDRP with NDMP backup and Netapp filer
Hello, We are backuping our Netapp filer with BE 16 and NDMP protocol (arround 100TB). In case of major issue, we may have to be able to restore a few data ASAP (financials data, RH data and some unpredictable data). We notice that it's not possible to restore NDMP backup on a different vendor hardware. It's a problem for the business. Is there any workaround (with NDMP backup)? Thank you for your time and feedback. Regards, Eric877Views0likes2CommentsNDMP Backup with NETAPP v9
Hi, I trying to add a Netapp filer as NDMP data server into Backup Exec 16 (fully updated on 2016-02-21). I always get an error message "permission denied". See attachment of a print screen. The filer hosts several SVMs. ndmp node-scope-mode is disabeled. I have enabled debug mode on the filer.
