NetBackup Replication (AIR). Very old Backup Images
Good day! I'm planning to replicate the NetBackup Images on NUB-Appliance 5240 to a new master server which is on RHEL-8. Current NBU version 10.3.0.1. My environment has SLP and NON SLP jobs. I want to replicate all images that were processed using SLP and STU to a New Linux Master (NBU domain). The NBU Admin console only have duplicate option. Using commands can I replicate old images? please share sample commands or tech article reference. Appreciate your help.Platform migration NetBackup Appliance 5240 to RHEL 9
Good Day! We have a requirement to for platform migration of NetBackup Appliance 5240 to RHEL-9. Is it possible to do a NetBackup Catalog recovery. we shall maintain the same host name and IP. Current NetBackup version is 10.3.0.1. Please share if you have a reference article or procedure.
Restoring Using a Different Media Server
Hello Everyone, I would like some assistance on how to perform a restoration using only one server that acts as both the master and media server. I currently have two master servers: one for PROD and one for DR. I plan to decommission the PROD master server along with all its connected media servers. I also plan to decommission the media servers connected to the DR master server and use the DR master as both the master and media server. My main concern is the restoration process. How can I redirect restorations from the old media servers (used for old backups) to the new combined master/media server, and use it for restoring both old and new backups? Concept of Netbackup Cluster for HA
Hi everyone, recently I have been task with the research of deploying the new Netbackup Domain which will be setting up HA using 3 NBU Master Nodes (2 nodes in PROD and 1 nodes at DR). Our target is to install new NBU 10.5.0.0 version on RHEL 8.10 server or RHEL 9.3 However when reading through the Veritas article I have run into 2 concepts: Veritas NBU VCS InfoScale HA So in this case, to achieve our goal, what approach should we choose? And what is the high level activity should we go through: Install Master server node 1 -> configure cluster or install master server node 1 and node 2 then configure cluster? etc. Appreciate someone can guide me on this. Netbackup 10.5 FETB Licensing enforcement
Hi I have a couple of questions regarding NetBackup 10.5/11 licensing. We’re currently running NetBackup 10.2 and are considering an upgrade to 10.5.1/11. I understand that perpetual licenses are still offered on a per front-end terabyte basis. Could you anyone please clarify if Veritas (or Cohesity, if applicable) will continue to offer perpetual licenses? Additionally, I've heard from a reseller that in NetBackup 10.5 onwards, if you exceed your licensed capacity, new backup jobs may be halted, even though existing backups remain available. Given that backup selections in NetBackup are mostly dynamic and can change from day to day also there is a possibility to suddenly have alot more TBs of data, I'm particularly concerned about how this enforcement mechanism works. If this claim is accurate, is there a grace period before backup operations stop, and how much time is typically provided to acquire additional licenses? Your insights would be incredibly helpful as we plan our upgrade strategy. Best regards, MehrdadLocal account vs Service account for DNAS protection
Hi, I was interested to hear from the community as to if people tend to use local accounts or service accounts when it comes to configuring snapshot style protection for DNAS backups? Previously when we used ndmp we obviously had to use local accounts that were local to the storage array but we want to test moving away from NDMP to DNAS and as such it seems you can give it either local or domain based user so long as it has sufficient rights on the storage array. So what do people tend to use and for what reasons? Thanks in advance for any opinions/infoStorage options for OS upgrade
Hello, we have a NetBackup 10.4 server that we need to upgrade the OS from rhel 7 to rhel 9. Currently the MSDP is on the same disk that the OS will target (/dev/sda) so I need to copy/relocate the backup images during the upgrade. I opened a case with support and they suggested mounting SAN storage. Is this the only option to duplicate the backup data, or can we use DAS/NFS for setting up a new AdvDisk? This particular host has no other drives in it to relocate the data to, so it will need to be off the host during upgrade. Thank you
