I have a number of 5230 appliances, each configured as Master / Media servers accross a number of sites. I have just upgraded each of the appliances to 2.7.2, and all appears well excepting the Exchange GRT backups. I haven't upgraded any clients at this stage, and the first Exchange backup since the upgrade has completed Status 1 - with the following: Error BRBRM - Cannot start nbfsd on xxxxxxxx (where xxxxx is appliance name) Warning BPBRM from client yyyyyy WRN: Unable to setup NBFSD credentials, disabling granular backups (where yyyyyy is the Exchange server) This is NFS related, but the Exchange environment hasn't changed (and GRT worked just fine before the upgrade from 2.6.0.3) and I never had to set anything up on the appliance previously as it runs NFS by default. Where should I be looking here, how can I see if NFS is started and configured on the appliance following the 2.7.2 upgrade ? I have the following upgrade scenario with NBU and 5220 appliances, and am wondering how much of this I can perform concurrently. Windows 2008R2 Master Server - recently upgraded to NBU 7611 - all OK 5220 Media Server 1 (72TB) - 2.5.3 5220 Media Server 2 (36TB) - 2.5.3 I am moving the appliances to 2611 and am wondering do I have to stop all activity on Master and both appliances and upgrade them consecutively or can I stop all activity and upgrade the two appliances at the same time ? They are both Media ONLY, and the Master is already at 7611 so there should be no version issues. Thanks, AJ.Solved1.9KViews1like8CommentsNetbackup appliance 5230 & Fibre Channel Autonegotiation
HI, I have deployed a 5230 appliance with 2.6.1.2 release. During the configuration of FibreTransport media server, I had several issues with the link between SAN Switch (Brocade 16Gb FABOS 7.3.0c ) and the target ports on the appliance (port 1 on slots 5 & 6). Looking at the porterrorshow on my switchs I saw a lot of loss of sync on the Switchs ports. I have solved theses issues by setting the speed to 8 Gbs on the switch. Does anybody experiment the same issue with Appliance (for my part, it was the very first time after many deployement) ? regardsSolved2.5KViews0likes3CommentsNetBackup Appliance 5230 as Master Server
Hello there!! Does anybody know if I can upgrade a NetBackup Appliance 5230 configured as master server from 2.6.1 to 2.7.1? Or if I can have a NetBackup Appliance 5230 configured as master server with version 2.7.1? I try to find the information in SORT, but I don't realle understand if a 5230 master server can have 2.7.1 or not: "NetBackup 5200 Series Appliances running 2.x or later can be used as back-level media servers in a NetBackup 7.7.x configuration. NetBackup Appliance and NetBackup versions will resynchronize in future releases." And one more question, does anybody know how can I determine if I need to use a 4 Tb or a 14 Tb master server? Thanks!!Solved2.4KViews1like3CommentsSpurious Alerts following Appliance Upgrade to 2.7.2
I have recently upgraded a number of 5230 Appliances to 2.7.2, and whilst all appear to be functioning as expected we are getting numerous alerts relating to disk failures which are 'false'. I am wondering whether there is a BIOS issue here (mismatch) ? Two questions: 1. How can I display the current BIOS level without rebooting the appliance ? 2. Is there a required BIOS update to be applied 'outside' of the regular software/firmware package used for 2.7.2 ? Thanks, AJ.1.9KViews1like4CommentsNetbackup appliance Expansion unit not detected

We have an issue where we are running out of disk space on our Netbackup appliance 5230 running version 2.6.1.1, and I'm looking for ways to free up some disk space. I used OpsCenter to run a report for "Policy Summary Dashboard" for the last 2 months (we have 2 months retention on disk backups). When I summarized the size for all the policies I ended up with 82TB used space. However when I check in the diskpool in the Netbackup admin console it shows 113TB used space. If I run df -h on the appliance it shows the output below. I was thinking about the "/msdp/data/dp1/1pdvol"-pool is there anything unnormal about that being present? The size of that pool is pretty much the size-difference between total policy size and used space shown in the Netbackup console. Is there any way to free up that disk space, or is it supposed to be like this?
