How much space is required in a VxFS file system for the recover file as used by the fscdsconv utility
Hi all, I'm going to migrate a VXVM/VXFS (vers 5.1SP1RP4) volume/file system Solaris Sparc platform to VXVM/VXFS 6.03 Linux 6.5 platform, the file system size is 2TB space, real 1TB.... how much space is required for utility fscdsconv during conversion, there is a formula for this job? Thanks a lot Cecilia1KViews4likes1CommentTroubleshooting volume performance in Storage Foundation
Hi, all. We have released a set of articles about troubleshooting volume performance in Storage Foundation. Here is the link: "Troubleshooting volume performance in Veritas Storage Foundation" http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH202712 Since this is a broad topic, the "technote" is actually a set of about a dozen article that have been organized into a logical tree structure, with TECH202712 at its "root." Let us know what you think! Regards, Mike755Views3likes0CommentsQDepth tuneup for DMP
Hi Am I right thinking setting the following in /etc/system which sets the QDepth and IO Timeout globally for the HBA's set sd:sd_io_time=0x3c set sd:sd_max_throttle=8 can be controlled at array level using vxdmpadm as per these tunable parameters https://sort.symantec.com/public/documents/sf/5.0/solaris/html/vxvm_admin/ag_ch_dmp_vm31.html#458394 and will this overide the system settings only for the specific Array and use the defaults or forced from /etc/system values for the rest? Any other insights on this would be great. ThanksSolved1.4KViews2likes4CommentsVeritas Storage Foundation 5.0 - Error code

Hi all, IHAC who has upgraded their SF HA 6.1 on RHEL 5 and noticed their RUNQ increased four times (0.1 avg to 0.4 avg). AFAIK, nothing has been changed during the upgrade. I'm wondering if it's an isolated case or expected behavior?Solved880Views1like3CommentsShrinking large filesystem spanned across multiple luns
Hello, we have a mirrored/raid1 volume of 1TB spanned across two arrays (80 luns from each array) and its usage is now 400G (at some point usage was 850G). We need to shrink the filesystem to 500G so that we can utilize the space for new filesystem. I understand vxresize helps in this case and it will attempt to remove most recently added LUNs similar to stack LIFO mode. I am under impression that if the data extents are on the recently added LUN, that will be evacuated to free blocks on the old LUN and it will take considerable amount of time to complete the resize operation. I guess defragmenation prior the resize helps. I would like to know/estimate the resize operation time and wondering if there is any way to identify howmuch data is stored on a particular LUNs. Thanks in Advance.Solved726Views1like1CommentCVM/CFS on Solaris
Dear All, I would like to create a VCS cluster of 2 nodes that will have the CFS mounted on both of them. Once the CFS is mounted into the cluster I want to get it shared to the system that is not part of VCS cluster. My question is it possible if not what could be the best way. Objective for this I want to test performance (read/write) on CFS as compare to NFS, QFS. I will appreciate your input.Solved1.5KViews1like5CommentsAnnouncing Storage Foundation High Availability Customer Forum 2012
