DA DB maintenance
We have the sql 11.0.2 database for DA 9.0 mounted on a windows server 2008 R2 box and our DBAs run the following maintenance: Index Maintenance and Update Statistics - Nightly Full Backups - Nightly Log Backups - Every 15 Minutes I'm assuming that I need to shut down both Enterprise Vault Admin Service and Enterprise Vault Accelerator Manager Service which we are going to start doing. However we are still recieving the following error: Log Name: Symantec Enterprise Vault Source: Accelerator Service Processor Date: 8/23/2013 8:47:38 AM Event ID: 42086 Task Category: None Level: Warning Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: SDCSEVDISAPPW01.AD.CHPNET.ORG Description: APP AT - Customer ID: 2 - Warning: Some items could not be searched: Archive: 'David Engel' ID: 149C90F5A6F97BF4E960CA67F4B06E5711110000EVSERVER01 Index Volume: 20322 Search ID: 122 Description: Items or content missing from the index Reason: Items or content missing from the index Stack: Event Xml: <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Accelerator Service Processor " /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">42086</EventID> <Level>3</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2013-08-23T12:47:38.000000000Z" /> <EventRecordID>1465705</EventRecordID> <Channel>Symantec Enterprise Vault</Channel> <Computer>SDCSEVDISAPPW01.AD.CHPNET.ORG</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData> <Data>APP AT - Customer ID: 2 - Warning: Some items could not be searched: Archive: 'David Engel' ID: 149C90F5A6F97BF4E960CA67F4B06E5711110000EVSERVER01 Index Volume: 20322 Search ID: 122 Description: Items or content missing from the index Reason: Items or content missing from the index Stack: </Data> </EventData> </Event>Solved910Views1like6CommentsChange DA 9.0 Export Folder Default Path
We have DA 9.0 running on a Server 2008 64 bit server with the client's running on Win XP SP3. On the client I have changed the default path for the export folder to a shared folder via the full UNC under configuration>settings>export production. However even after restarting the client when I go to export the default path is still listed as C:\. It is in use at the moment so I cannot recycle the services which is my next thought but I wondered if there is something else that I might be missing? I'm doubtful that restarting the services will do anything as this is a configuration on the client and not on the server.Solved618Views0likes2CommentsSearch terms with and without dashes.
I was led to believe that whilst constraining a search term by double quotation marks in order search for that exact term dashes are ignored. Thus, for example, "212-M50-0599" is equivalent to“212 M50 0599”. However what we are finding, in the case of this example, we are gettting matches to the area code 212 rather than that exact string. Is there something that I'm missing? I'm not sure the dashes even have anything to do with it as this is a string of ten numbers broken up in the right places. Any guidance would be appreciated.Solved628Views0likes5CommentsItems exported>items to be exported
Has anyone seen where in DA it shows items exported as greater than the items to be exported? In this case items to be exported 24172 and items exported 25002. I'm assuming that there is some duplication going on here but if anyone has seen this before and discovered the cause (duplication or even just an app error in counting)I would love to hear from you. Hi, I installed Custodian Manager and everything went fine. Question, when I click on "Manage or Create Custodians", everything is quick in the GUI. When I click "Manage or Create Groups", it is extremely slow (takes a full minute to get to the next page). I have about the same number of synched users and groups (~22,000). Any idea why the "Manage or Create Groups" is so slow? Any way to speed it up? ThanksSolved576Views0likes4CommentsWhat is legal hold by custodian in EVDA Rel 10?
I heard that there is a new feature in EVDA Rel 10 that legal holds can be applied by custodian. Can anyone elaborate on that? I search the forum and couldn't find detail information. I basically want to apply holds to emails to select custodians without bringing in search results to DA SQL server, and then accepting, reviewing, etc.as that add a lot of overheads.Solved848Views0likes8CommentsApply legal holds without using DA case searches?
We are applying legal holds to emails to/from identified custodians via DA case searches. These search hits will not be reviewed or exported. But it seems that case searches bring the search results to DA database, which is not required for our purpose. Is there another "light" way to apply legal holds to emails for select custodians without the overhead of case, searches, acceptance, etc.?Solved533Views0likes1CommentDA Hold Release and New Holds
Someone recently claimed to me that they experienced an issue with Discovery Accelerator when they attempted to release a very large hold and it took a very long time. Because of the time it took to complete, their on going search schedule was impacted because they could not put holds in place while the release was occurring. I was wondering if anyone has heard of this issue before? Also, I'm curious if there is a metric on how fast the hold release process might take for 10 million items. Thanks.Solved708Views0likes2CommentsEnterprise Vault / Discovery Accelerator and VMWare ESX
Our organization uses a 100% VMWare environment. For the most part, this has worked quite well, but Ihave noticed that certain portions of the Enterprise Vault roles do not function well in a virtual environment. The current configuration is below. All servers are Windows 2003 SP3 32-bit. The roles and general virtual configuration is listed. EachEV# is it's own server. The environment is approximately 5000 users. We have gone through the performance guide several times and have made a good amount of the recommendations as applicable. Servers: EV1 - Mailbox Archiving 4 procs (these 4 cores have been dedicated in VMWare for this virtual machine), 4 GB RAM, 5 index locationseach on it's own LUN onNetApp, Vault Cache on dedicated drive on NetApp EV2 - Journal Archiving 4 procs, 4 GB RAM, 1 index location on NetApp EV3 - Directory and PSTLocation (Locating only, no collection or importing) 2 procs, 4 GB RAM EV4 - Discovery Accelerator 2 procs, 4 GB ram EV5 - SQL 2005 32-bit 4 procs, 4 GBs, dedicated drives for Logs and Data (seperated) Current Issues: - EV1 is completely running non-stop 100% all four procs 24 hours a day. Indexing issues that require restarting of services approximately 2-3 times per week. - EV4 and EV5 - The enabling of analytics throws all four processors on EV5 to 100%. The creation of full text XML files from this causes extreme performance hits. Estimated time to complete 100,000 items for analytics is 8.4 hours (possibly longer). Questions: - Does anyone have a similar size environment and uses VMWare? - Has anyone been able to enable analytics successfully within a VMware environment? How large was the case? Did you have the same problem with the full text searching? - I would love to get a definitive answer on VMWare environment and Enterprise Vault. I only can find general recommendations but not a specific, "hey, with this number of mailboxes you will have this much lost in a VMWare environment" statement. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Solved1.7KViews0likes7Comments
