Sharepoint archiving - re-indexing crawl in Sharepoint
Hi everyone. I just wanted to pick everyone's brain about something. Say we archive a few TB worth of Sharepoint documents and they all get replaced by shortcuts. My understanding is that during its re-indexing crawl, the Sharepoint server will reach to every archived document on EV and bring it over to be indexed (I am not talking about EV indexing but rather SP indexing). I guess an incremental crawl is not a big deal, but every once in a while Sharepoint needs to perform a full crawl, which means a few TB worth of data will be pulled from EV and dragged across the network back to the Sharepoint server for indexing purposes. I can't see how this is feasible. The full crawl will take weeks and may kill the network.Solved510Views13likes2CommentsDeleting Backup_ID Cartridge space not reclaimed.

Hi, We are required to run a very large restore (~12TB) of a SAP database. The backup image is stored on a Data Doamin storage server. We would like to force the restore to use a specific media server that is not the server used for the oirignal backup. The storage server has 6 DD Boost enabled media servers accessing it for both backups and duplications between data centers. Each time we initiate the restore a different media server is used. We have used the "media host override" settings but these do not seem to be honored for OST storgae servers according to this artilce - http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/how-use-media-host-override Has anyone else experinced this problem?2.1KViews6likes10CommentsBE 2014 Slow Hyper -V Incremental Back ups
Hi All There seems to be a lot ofthreads regardingthis problem, however i've not found a difinitive solution. Environment Physical Backup Server - BE 2014, OS Windows 2008 R2 - Fully patched, 16GB RAM, 2 x 6 Core CPU's, backing up a mixture of physical andHyper-V Virtual Windows servers running Windows 2008/2012. We have recently upgraded to Backup Exec 2014, and it seems that our Hyper-V incremental backups run extremly slow. At around 200 MB/M. I understand that if I enable Microsoft incremental backups I need to upgrade my server to 2012 to get GRT backups. But i've not read anything that says this resolves the issue, and may impact on servers performance due to a snapshot always running. Any help would be great. Thanks Paul.330Views6likes1CommentMedia Server BEX2012 Config and License
Hi all! My Dell rep suggested that I go with a poweredge 510 or 520 which don't have internal room for an LTO4 HH drive. He mentioned using my existing power edge 820 server (currently w/ BEX 10d), LTO dirve, and external JBOD array as a "media" type server to handle all the D2D2T backups of the new file server in conjuction with the new file server. My questions; Is this practical in regard to read/write speeds from the "media" server to the new file server (i assume the interface is via network)? And, if so, what is the BEX 2012 setup config like? Install on the file server full version and then a client version on the "media" server? or the other way around? tnx.... ps...looks like the poweredge rack 710 and tower 710 can handle an interal LTO tape drive but the pricing gets away from my budget.Solved296Views6likes1CommentSystem Recovery Management Solution 2013

Hi, New to Netbackup and netbackup community. I'm looking for some help on calculating the total amount of data being backup perMonth, in order to estimate capacity license. I run multiple agents like:Windows filebackup, Oracle, SQL, VMs Some of my backup policies are incremental, differential and fulls; which are weekly and monthly full. I have exported a months worth of data from the activity monitor, this export includes incremental, differential, and full information. The problem I'm having is some of the jobs like the SQL jobs have a (job schedule) that is full_onsite,Default Application,SQL - application and full, I'm not quite sure if I should be adding all of thesebackup into the monthly totals. Also is there a tool that I can run that would give me a Monthly totals? ThanksSolved7KViews5likes13CommentsHow to increase the time out for Backup Exec 2012 UI
If you get the time out error as: The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply after 00:09:59.9980000. Increase the timeout valuepassed to thecall to Request or Increase the sendTimeout value on the Binding. The time alloted to this operation may havebeen aportion of a longer timeout. This means, the UI of Backup Exec 2012 has waited for 10 minutes for the underlaying services to reply back. If you want BE UI to wait for longer time (let us say 20 minutes), Stop the UI. Open the file BackupExec.exe.config (located at Program Files/Symantec/Backup Exec) Replance all the occurrences of 00:10:00 with 00:20:00 Start the UI. My Senario: In my case, a report was taking more than 10 minutes to generate (pretty sad, but dont worry, developers are working continuously for better performance). So I increased the sendTimeout of 'NetTcpBinding_Job' to 20 minutes, And boooom !!, the report got executed successfully in 14 minutes.Solved1.2KViews5likes1CommentServer Agent out of date
I started seeing LiveUpdate Information About the agent for windows on at least one server does not have the most recent updates? To Install the most recent updates, on the Backup and restore tab, right click the remote computer that is out of date, and then select Update. 1.There is no indication on what server agent is out of date 2.After right clicking on each server on some I can see Update is grayed out and on some its clickable 3.Does this mean they are out of date and need to be updated? 4.What happen if I update the server will I have to reboot? 5.The server is Windows 2003 with exchange 2003 running on a cluster serves with 2 nodes 6.It seem each node might need the upgrade and the cluster seems to need 7.I am assuming after I update the active node the cluster will be up-to-date 8.Should I manually run LiveUpdate on the backup Exec server monthly and after an update I should update the clients?1.2KViews5likes18Comments
