The requested FRS entry is unused
Hello all, I have been stuck on this for a while now with now solution and this problem, so far, has occurred only on one machine. When attempting to recover, in the last few seconds of the recovery I receive an error message: -Cannot copy data from the recovery point to the destination. --The requested FRS entry is unused (free, 0). (UMI:V-281-3215-1010) I was not able to find much help on the web either. Any help would be much appreciated. Symantec System Recovery 2011 Scenario: System A has a recover point created on our central storage. Hard drive of System A needs to be replaced I have the hard drive connected to my system and properly partitioned and attempting to recover using the SSR console note: I have successfully completed this exact same process a few times. This is the first failure.Solved1.6KViews0likes7CommentsMy computer caught fire…
I was advised to repost this topic here by Symantec... All I have got left is the external drive, (USB, 1000 GB), containing the backups. I wasn't unduly worried – after all this is why you have backups isn't it? The computer was fairly old and had two IDE drives with Windows 7 and a matching motherboard with an older type of RAM. The backup was made with Ghost 12 – I had no idea that it had become obsolete. I bought a new computer with two SATA drives. Apparently IDE drives and matching motherboards boards are no longer made. I booted from the SRD but the machine couldn't see the USB drive. I installed Windows 7 and then it could see the USB drive when I booted from the SRD. I told to restore the C drive after which it wouldn't boot from the drive. I subsequently chatted with Symantec support who told me that if I installed the appropriate Ghost application on the new machine it would be possible to restore from my USB drive. The agent insisted that in the whole of Symantec there was not a single remaining copy of any version of ghost… I managed to find a "Try and buy" copy of Ghost 15. Will this work? If not what can I do? The chatline agent did not know the answer to these questions and referred me to this forum. David4KViews0likes27Commentsmoving data from unused area
Hi, I'm wondering what exactly SSR2013 is doing when it's at 99% done and stalled seemingly forever at "Moving data from unused area?" There's no indication of how long this will take, and I'm just sitting here thinking of things to do. I can't really leave the system for any length of time because it might finish the crive copy at any moment. So I'm just stuck here grumbling. What I can't understand is what data there is in an unused area. If it's unused, then why is the date important to me, and why do I have to wait interminably while it is moved? Why can't there be some kind of progress indicator so I can know where I am in the process? GaryK3.4KViews0likes20CommentsSSR 2011 Symantec System Recovery Disk ISO download
I have SSR 2011 installed and would like to create a System Recovery disk, but i don't have the ISO. I know there's a download for that and I've seen a location for a 2013 version, but I assume I need a 2011 version. Where can I download one? Hi, I need to migrate a Enterprise Vault 11 server running on a Windows 2008 R2 server to a Windows 2012 R2 server. Actually we are doing only Exchnage Journal Archiving. What is the best procedure to afford this ??? Actually we don't have Symantec Backup solutions, but i suppose that it could be done with different backup solutions. I can't seem to find a guide or any help. How can I image a bios computer and then restore it to a uefi computer. I tried for a week with absolutely no success. System Recovery can put the image on the computer but it will never boot and if I boot from the Windows 7 CD it will not see the operating system so I can not do any repairs. I saw on symantec site for Ghost that " This issue occurs when you deploy an image of Windows 12 BIOS type client computer on a UEFI enabled client computer. You must add the following command in the Command-line options field of the Command -line tab of the Advanced option of the Deploy Image task: -cesp" This does not apply to System Recovery as far as I can tell. I do not see a place to put in any commands. Since Ghost is being discontinued what can I do?2KViews0likes5CommentsSR 2013 R2 Windows 10 Restore - Windows Validation Fail

Hi, Client has EV server installed with no CName and needs to move server to new hardware. ComputerName = EVserver.domain.com ComputerNameAlternate = EVserver Trying to find out options: Server move technote at https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000081331 gives 2 options: - use same name on new hardware. This is straight forward. - use changed name on new hardware. This asks you to point the CName to the new server. Since there is no CName, would this work? In other words if we change: ComputerName = NewServer.domain.com and ComputerNameAlternate = NewServer and run EVConfig as new server, would that work? Thanks,Solved1.1KViews0likes2Comments
