How to unshare a shared device (tape library)
We have a dual slot tape library that connects via SAS to our physical media server. It used to be attached to the back of a NAS that we would use the Linux Media Agent on it to backup. I ran an upgrade procedure to move the backup exec from one machine to another but now the tape drives (and apparently the disk storage too) has a hand icon under it and it shows it's shared with servers that don't exist anymore. As such we get Linux Media Server Option License Violations now (we have a license, but I'm going to let it expire). It's annoying to get this email every hour but I don't want to turn it off or I might miss something else (knowing this product, it won't be long...) How do I tell Backup Exec to stop sharing this device. I do not need the Linux Media Server license anymore but I cannot figure a way out to tell it to stop sharing with a previous linux media server that no longer exists.1.9KViews0likes5CommentsBest solution to back up Citrix Xen Server
Hello, I am wondering what the best solution would be for the following: I have on Citrix Xen Server host that has 7 virtual machines on it. I am currently using PHD Virtual to back this up to a NAS. I am looking to move to different software for the backups. One of the virtual machines is running SQL and one is running AD and DNS. There is also one physical server that has AD, DNS, and DHCP on it that i would also like to back up in the same solution. What i was curious about is what is the best way to back all of this up? Is it Back Up Exec or System Restore? Or would neither work? I am looking for something that will back up to the existng NAS and allow for item level restores as well as fast restores of full VM's if ever needed. Second question is, assuming one of the two products will work is it best practice to install it on its own server or could it be installed on teh physical that is existing with AD, DNS and DHCP? I am assuming its own server and that is what i would shoot for, but for the sake of saving money i like to know my options. Thank you for your assistance.Solved3.5KViews0likes4CommentsAdding Synology NAS to Backup EXEC 2014
Hello, Our users use a Synology DiskStation 1813+ to save their data. We need to backup that data. We have a Windows Server 2012 server with Backup EXEC 2014. I need to add the NAS to Backup EXEC. I choose a File server or NDMP device to add. I type the IP adress from my NAS and set the right credentials, so far so good. Whe I create a backup schedule, choose the shares to backup and run a Test Run it will pass. When I run the job I get thiserror: Completed status: Failed Final error: 0xe000846b - The server could not be backed up . Ensure that the server is online, and that the the correct version of the Agent for Windows is installed. Final error category: Resource Errors For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-33899 Unable to attach to \\device\share V-79-57344-33899 - The server could not be backed up . I hope someone has a solution!3KViews0likes13CommentsUnable to install RALUS on sun Sparc Server- Solaris 5.10

Hi, We have the following infra. Backup Exec 2010 R2 on Windows 2003 Ent. SP2 (32bit). As Master and Media server RALUS of BE 2010 R3 installed on RHEL 5.4 64 Bit. As BE Client We have installed the RALUS of BE 2010 R3 on the RHEL and its was successful. We have started the VRTUS** service in /etc/init.d Restarted the backup service in the BE 2010 R2 server. When we are trying to browse after adding the Linux server IP in the "User defined" section... I am getting the user authentication window to choose the user from. I am giving the root user with correct password but still the authentication window is poping up. I have added the IP address and host name in the hots file in both the servers (linux and windows ). Just to add this BE 2010 R3 server's IP address have changed but the host name remained the same. And I am giving the host name in the RALUS configuration. Thanks.Solved758Views0likes3Comments
