Can't Start BackupExec12 services
Hi everyone So I discovered a problem with our BackupExec12 setup, installed on Windows Server 2008 and has remote agent installed on all our other servers running 2008 and 2008 R2. Having needed to perform a file restore (first one since I started the job) i kept getting authentication errors, so I reset the backupexec user password in our domain controller and restarted the backupexec services which accepted it and came backup ok. The problem I'm getting is when I try a resource credential test/ or actually try running the restore I get the following errors: "The data was not able to be validated" any ideas?Solved528Views0likes3CommentsB2V Restore Issue
Hello Guys, I am having a problem trying to restore a Full backup set from a VM with an agent onto an EXSI host. Below are the steps that I have done and I will also be including the screen shots of the job selection, backup options, and error message that I am getting below. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Things I have done so far. 1. Inventory and Catalog the tape. 2. Made sure what I want to restore is on those tape. 3. Select Convert to Virtual from a Point in Time 4. Select the appropriate backup options and attempt to run the job.1.4KViews0likes10Commentsrestauration SDR sbs2011

Hi all So, I have a bit of a problem. I accidentally deleted the wrong folder from our work server yesterday (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard), but we have a nightly backup to a tape drive, so I went onto the backup software (Symantec Backup Exec 2012) to restore the data. However, using the restore wizard it has been "Querying for data" for approximately 12 hours... is this normal?? Is it possible to restore files/folders from a tape backup, or would we have to restore the whole system? Do I just need to wait a long time for the system to find the data? I'm a designer with a decent knowledge of IT but Server/Server backups/Tape are all pretty new to me! We have a spare 2Tb NAS drive so I could potentially restore all of the data to this (approximately 600gb), would this be a more viable approach? Thanks in advanceSolved1.9KViews1like2CommentsUsing SDR vs B-to-V in BE2012
Hi everybody. I need to perform e DR plan for some physical servers. Those servers have local disks andalso connect to SAN Storage LUN through Fibre Channel. I read that FC and iSCSI are not supported in a BE 2012 B-to-VJOB. Well, what about: 1) Doing a SDR of my server; 2)Booting a new "empty" Virtual Machinewith anSDR DISK(eventually customized if the generic ones don't fit); 3) Recoverythe originalserver in a brend new VM. Does it run ? Thanks ! PigiSolved1.1KViews0likes5CommentsBE 11D and a Move to 2008R2 with DFS
We are in the process of migrating our old dedicated 2003 servers to 2008 R2 VM's using multi point DFS etc. It has become very obvious that BE11D can't cope with DFS as the usual file selections are not used and the snapshots while listing content can't be granually restored or redirected as required. Having not had a need to visit Symantec regarding BE for quite some time, I find it impossible to even locate my licensing information on-line never mind whether I can upgrade rather than re-purchase. Not using a maintenance contract any more so I suspect it is re-purchase. Is there any fixes for 11D which would allow us to take files off a Server Share to tape AND restore with folder information backto the correct location or redirect as desired ? If NO, then does the current version have this ability ? Bear in mind, we already snapshot revisions on all the servers and DFS syncs the data across multiple servers and sites. What we need is to maintain longer term, off line TAPE backups at a file by file level. We will of course also backup the VM server snapshots to tapes for recovery purposes. I need a cost effective solution that plays nicely with VMware, DFS shares and has a long term support path. Currently we use a dedicated Win 2003 32bit server with alarge disk array anddual tape units for the off line backups to disk and tape. We can upgrade it if required but there is no desire to do so as this is its only purpose.384Views0likes2CommentsQ and A

Hello All, N00bie here... I have a client that has been using the old Veritas Backup Exec 9.0 for NetWare to backup a Novell Server. Recently, the oranization made the determination to go to a Linux-based server and contracted me to install CenntOS 5.5 and SAMBA shares for the office. In this new environment, two concerns have risen: 1. How do they access the "old" backups? - Thecompany has four external HDDs to which they rotate incremental BUs. - A FULL BACKUP has not been available since December 2010 do to latency of backkup processing (over USB 1.1!) 2. Can a newer version of Backup Exec be the 'savior' to their backup needs> - Provide sustainable access to former file shareBUs from the 'old' system - Provide BUs going forward on the CentOS servers? I'd really appreciate any help you can provide. In advance, THANKS!526Views0likes3Comments
