How to restore data by inserting existing LTO5 media into an LTO7 drive.
Hello. I'm curious about the process, so I'm posting this to ask for some help. I have a NetBackup appliance connected to two tape libraries: TLD(0): SL150 with four LTO-5 drives TLD(1): TS4300 with LTO-7 and LTO-8 drives In the NetBackup GUI → Device Monitor, the following drives are shown as UP: 4 × LTO-5 drives 1 × LTO-7 drive 3 × LTO-8 drives both LTO5 and LTO7 are HCART2 types. LTO8 are HCART3 types. As far as I understand, data backed up on LTO-5 media should be readable/restorable using an LTO-7 drive I want to restore data backed up on SL150 LTO5 drives to TS4300 LTO7 drives. What is the restore process?60Views0likes3Comments- 184Views0likes3Comments
Restoring Using a Different Media Server
Hello Everyone, I would like some assistance on how to perform a restoration using only one server that acts as both the master and media server. I currently have two master servers: one for PROD and one for DR. I plan to decommission the PROD master server along with all its connected media servers. I also plan to decommission the media servers connected to the DR master server and use the DR master as both the master and media server. My main concern is the restoration process. How can I redirect restorations from the old media servers (used for old backups) to the new combined master/media server, and use it for restoring both old and new backups? DR MASTER SERVER INFO: NBU Version: 10.3.0.1 OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Standard Thank you.96Views0likes5CommentsRedirecting Restore to a Different Media Server
Hi, I would like to ask if it is possible to change the destination media server for my restore. When I perform a restore, the media server used was the same one that performed the original backup. I am planning to decommission all currently active media servers and use the Master Server as the Media Server as well. How can I change the ownership of the backup image or media to a different media server? Master server Information: NBU Version: 10.3.0.1 OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Standard Thank you in advance.Solved127Views0likes3CommentsIs there a way to backup the OS through NetBackup?
I am curious if it is possible to back up the OS using only netbackup software without using bmr or vsr. There are system state and shadow copy components in the backup selection, and I am wondering if it is possible to backup and restore the server OS through these. If you know any ideas or technote addresses, please let me know.122Views0likes2Commentsrestoring file from linux source to windows target; is possible?
Hi people: We are using NBU 10.x on windows 2022 media/master server (both roles same server). Have a mix of windows and linux clients. We need to restore a file from /wrk/app/app-baks.tar to a windows server on e:\wrk\app. My co-worker running this restore tells me that NBU GUI is telling that restore path is invalid. Tried e:/wrk/app but don't work. And seems that isn't supported. Any idea to accomplish this task ? Maybe UNC or and NFS on the same server? Hope to being clear.293Views0likes4Comments
