Restore not working
Hello, I have a backup stored on disk of a WinServer 2019 VM that I am trying to restore; however, when i alter the VMs current state (ex add a new program, add a file, etc) and then restore to the backup point - the new "changes" i made are not wiped away. Even though the restore shows successful, I dont believe that it is if my current VM state (files, programs, etc) arent restore to what they were at the time of the backup. Ive tried overwriting and restoring files/volumes both from Files, folders or volumes as well as Complete online restore options, but have not seen what I want to see. Any ideas?525Views0likes2CommentsCatalogue jobs failed - data inconsistent on each tape?? V-79-57344-33994
Hello, i haveto restore an old backup (created with backup exec 10 i guess). For this restore i use Backup Exec 2010 R3 on Server 2008 R2. There are no entries for this backup in the catalog. So i loaded all tapes for this backup (20x LTO4 containing one backup) in my 24-Slot loader and inventorized them. After that i created catalogue jobs for each tape, starting with the first one. After 2 hours and about 800gb data the job on tape 1 failed with the error (translated): V-79-57344-33994 - Data read from media is not consistent. All other tapes failed with the same error. I can browse the data of the first tape and restore some of the items (others have a red cross). All other tapes are not in the catalogue, so i cant browse them. What i tried: * cleaning drive * checking statistic data for all tapes (0 errors) * Under BE Options > catalogue > disabled request all media in a row (translated) * enabled debugging May the first tape be broken? Is there a possibility to check the contents of all other tapes? I'm doing something wrong? Hi, our backup server is BE 2014 SP1 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. We are trying to restore full system of some clients by using SDR. However, after we boot the client to recover with the SDR boot CD, when it asks for connections to the backup server, although we put in the correct username and password, it always says it cannot connect to the backup server. Both the backup server and clients are in WORKGROUP. There is no domain in this network. Have anyone encountered this issue before? Any advice? Thanks in advance.Solved2.4KViews0likes9CommentsBUE 21.4 & GRT with Exchange 2016 on Server 2019
New server with Windows 2019 Standard install, clean install of BUE 21.4 (will attempt using the Veritas BUE Migration Assistant to bring over catalogs, etc.) and questions regarding restoring GRT-enabled Exchange 2016 mailboxes/emails. I guess the biggest question is what are the requirements for the above scenario? Is Exchange Management Tools still required for GRT mailbox restores like it was for Exchange 2010? The system requirements pages I've found make no mention of Exchange Management Tools so I'm not sure. I do remember in the past when we were running BUE 16, and Exchange 2010 that I had to do some special configuration for GRT restores to work, and it has continued to work after we migrated to Exchange 2016 and updated BUE to our current 21.4.882Views0likes1CommentHow I can schedule a restore and repeat it weekly?
Hi, Like a backup job this can repeat weekly, daily, monthly, etc. In this case we search the option to schedule a restore job and repeat it. The idea is restore one DB, weekly on sunday. How I can do this? I can't find it in the wizard of restore, you can only restore one time on a day and hour. We recently restored a couple of user's vault (all vault items) items directly to their EX2016 mailbox using EV12. This was done as the user's mailbox is being moved to Exchange Online in O365. Some users reported the following: The Unread count of messages in their Outlook clients increased dramatically They started to get reminders for old calendar items like meetings/appointments etc. Does the restore have no mechanism to track this or manipulate this? For example, if the user has a EV shortcut in their mailbox that is read, when they restore this mail, is it still read or does it come in as unread? Same for calendar items. Appreciate any feedback!781Views0likes1CommentRestore all items
We are moving to Exchange online in a few months. We currently archive from Exch2016 without shortcuts, on EV 12.5.1. The plan was to disable the users for archiving, and export a users archive back to their orginal mailbox, then migrate to the cloud. Any concerns with that approach? A user had a question, if they move items from their mailbox in to Virtual Vault, would it restore the item back to the original folder? I assume if it's named the same, say Inbox to Inbox then it would work, but if they moved from Inbox to Inbox\reports it would create the folder structure Inbox\reports if it didn't already exist? Hello all, any help would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to do a "convert to virtual machine from point in time" in Backup Exec 2012. I almost get through the whole setup sucessfully, I point to my ESX/Vcenter and choose a datastore. Now on the final step, i click the browse button beside the "Full path of VMware tools ISO image:" and i get the following error: "Browse Failure Failure to browse "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" The directory or file was not found, or could not be accessed." Now the first thing i'm noticing is it is trying to browse our old domain/FQDN. Is there any way of choose a new browse location?Solved2KViews4likes4CommentsBackup Exec 11D - End of Life
