Hello, I am not sure if I need to open seperate two discussion for this or not. I have doubts for both. WINDOWS I was going thorugh the following tech note: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH56473 There it is told to restore every thing from the master server in step A (all the drives which contains anything related to program files). My doubt is will it not stop the backup once we are restore will start overwriting the files related to netbackup client? I am asking this after what happened with me with Linux restore explained below. UNIX What needed to be done if we need to restore full Linux system, including everything. The system is live now. I have tried to restore every thing on one running linux system. Restore stopped in between and then I lostt ssh access to the host, it messed the system very badly that we are still trying to bring it up. I know one way is to restore every thing to a seprate disk then boot the system from that seprate disk, but what if I want to restore every thing to the original location not on the seprate disk, is it possible? Let me know if I have not explained my problem well enough. Thanks in advance!Solved8.4KViews1like8CommentsNeed an explanation of what the local EV db's are?

Hi toall, We did a test backup for a file level backup, after the job finished it has code 1 status. Saying that some of the files are in use or busy, we might need those files in the future if we need to restore and recover the whole system and files. What should be done to back it up and so that we could have a complete full backup job??? The client is a file server only..Thanks...Solved6.4KViews1like10Commentsinstall failed with error code 1603
Hi, When taking image backups i am getting the particular error. Even the Full Image backups doesnt work. Image Backups-Incremental Image Backups-Daily -- The job failed with the following error: Incremental\\Differential backup methods are not supported for this VM. The backup job failed, since the option 'to fall back to a full backup' was not selected. I logged a case with Symantec support and they said each VM should have an agent installed whether you need to take a GRT backup or just an image backup. Secondly they said all VMs must have hardware version7 inorder to do an incremental backup inorder to allow change block tracking feature within VMware. As a first step I am trying to push the RAWS agent to each VM. While installing agents on some VMs i am getting the following error 'install failed with error code 1603' I checked firewall settings and they are disabled. Thanks!Solved5.5KViews1like4CommentsBacking up the large fileserver - Archive bit vs time stamp
We have large file server where the backup window extends over days. To reduce the backup windows, we are considering backing it up with one time Full backup, after that substituting with the cumulative on weekly basis and differntials on the weekdays. There is note in the “Client Settings Properties for Windows Clients” help file as below: “Note: Symantec recommends that you do not combine differential incremental backups and cumulative incremental backups within the same Windows policy when the incremental backups are based on archive bit. As per recommendation, we are looking to use the timestamp method but would like to know of if there are any disadvantages of using time stamps vs Archive bit.Solved5.5KViews1like6Comments
