Firewall woes: Definitive TCP Port list for Netbackup
Hi, I keep running into problems connecting to clients/servers that have firewalls running. Does anyone have a COMPLETE portlist of TCP/UDP ports that should be open, so that I can do ALL possible Netbackup actions imaginable? We are using Netbackup 6.5.6 and 7.1 in a full Windows environment. I would like to put a generic firewall ruleset that is the sameon all clients, so that Netbackup will never everbe bothered by the firewalls again... Hope someone has this information available! Thanks! FredSolved576Views0likes3CommentsBest pratice to backup a NetBackup catalog of an Appliance

Hello, I am not sure if I need to open seperate two discussion for this or not. I have doubts for both. WINDOWS I was going thorugh the following tech note: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH56473 There it is told to restore every thing from the master server in step A (all the drives which contains anything related to program files). My doubt is will it not stop the backup once we are restore will start overwriting the files related to netbackup client? I am asking this after what happened with me with Linux restore explained below. UNIX What needed to be done if we need to restore full Linux system, including everything. The system is live now. I have tried to restore every thing on one running linux system. Restore stopped in between and then I lostt ssh access to the host, it messed the system very badly that we are still trying to bring it up. I know one way is to restore every thing to a seprate disk then boot the system from that seprate disk, but what if I want to restore every thing to the original location not on the seprate disk, is it possible? Let me know if I have not explained my problem well enough. Thanks in advance!Solved8.4KViews1like8CommentsNetbackup SQL intelligent policy implementation

Hi, We have recently moved to new IBM library TS3500 with HCART2 density drives.(IBM drives) This library is currently in use for backups with HCART2 density tapes. We had taken the backups in previuos IBM library TS3500with HCART3 density drives and tapes (IBM drives) Now I need to restore old tapes using new library. Q1 - May I know how it can be done without impacting the current runningbackups. Q2 - Is drive density change from HCART2 to HCART3 will be applicable only to the drive we are changing the density ? Rest drive can function as per normal ? Q3 - Is there service restart or service downtime required as and when the old tapes to be restored ? Q4 - In new library we are using default barcode rule as last 6 chars"3:4:5:6:7:8" whereas old library it was "1:2:3:4:5:6". Will that have any impact in reading the tapes ? Q5 - If this setup is not correct, please let me know any solution so that I can easily backup new data and restore the old data without any changes every time ?3.1KViews0likes12Comments
