SSR 2013 R2 - Email report/result not in language
Hi i have an ssr install which for some reason has gone completely weird. When ssr finished i get it to email the result for monitoring purposes. Accessing v2i file from 2009
I have a .v2i backup file made in 2009from a machine that is now long dead. I would like to be able to at least inspect the contents of this file. So far,following advice found in this forum and other places, Ihave tried: "Ghost Explorer" program -doesn't work as the file is not a .gho Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 - produces error ED80001F: "This recovery point file uses a form of compression (131072) that is not supported by this version of the product on thisplatform". Perhttps://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH55857.html, here are two possible solutions for this issue. The first solution is to restore the older compressed image with BESR 7.0 or earlier. The second solution is to convert the backups (images) created in BESR 6.5, 7.0 and Live State Recovery 3.0, 6.0 with medium compression to a different compression format before the image can be restored in BESR 8.0. Image Browser (tool in older versions) can copy an older image with medium compression to a new backup file using high compression or no compression. Before I give up on my old backup file altogether -assuming "BESR 7.0" is a (superseded)product, is there any way to obtain it? Or does anyone have other ideas on how I can get into this file? TIA

Symantec System Recovery Wont Get Policies From Server
Has anyone else had a problem with Symantec System Recovery 2013 Client and Management Solution where the client will not recieve the policies? I can clearly see from the console the client has the polices assigned but wont get them. This seems to happen all the time, and random. It happens on Windows XP and Windows 7. It only resolves itself if I remove the Recovery Software, Agent, and Altiris in random orders. It's never the same solution. I kill the services and remove all the symantec profile files and it still doesnt work. This seems to be an issue since updating to the latest service pack on the management agent, and the latest client. Ahoi, ich hab bei einen Kunden folgendes Problem Egal ob ich auf eine NAS oder auf lokal sichern will, es kommt immer dieser Fehler. Good2know für euch, ist noch, der Server hatte einen HDD-Chrash, die beiden Platten, die gesichert werden sollen sind neu. Ich hab auf die neuen Platten ein Image der alten Platten drauf gemacht. Ich kann mir gut vorstellen, dass SSR 2013 meckert, weil die HDD-Signaturen anders sind. KK

SSR 2013 Recovery Disk Does Not Boot
I have the SSR 2013 Recovery Disk and Have also downloaded the SSR 2013 SP2 Recovery Disk and neither will boot for over 30-45 minutes. What has gone wrong with this product. SSR 2011 works fine and boots up in a couple of minutes. With SSR 2013 it just sits at the Black Screen with theBlue Windows Logo does not show any activity until over 30-45 minutes. This is with various hardwaremostly x64based but some 32-bit also. I have also tried running it in a VM but that crashes also. Am I missing something? I having to look at another product now due to the issues with the 2013 Recovery Disk. I have a support call open with Symantec on this issue but they don't understand the issue, fob off after fob off. They have just askedme to download a tool onto the desktop!!! I don't have a desktop, the os haqs corrupted hencewhy I need the recovery disk to restore it. Sadly I'm going to have to look at another product unless this is resolved, it's a shame as I've been using it since v7.5 but this version is a disaster.

BESR 2010 Can't Mount Drives or Restore
In the past when trying to restore specific files from a BESR backup, I would right-click on the relevant recovery point, click Explore and then OK. Alternatively I could go to Recover > Recover My Files, then choose the backup destination and then search for the content I want. Neither way works now. When I try the first way, I get: "All available drive letters are currently used. Cannot explore (C:\) from the recovery point. When you explore revovery points, the drive letters used to explore the recovery point remain even after you have closed the window showing the contents of the recovery point. Would you like to end exploring all recovery points to allow exploring of the selected recovery point?" Clicking "Yes" just closes the window and doesn't do anything. Another indication of a smiliar problem is that in the dashboard, I have two possible backup destinations: the remote destination where I am backing up to, and a local drive E:. It says that E: is "unavailable", which might indicate that Symantec can't talk to local drives at all, even new drives that it can create. Regarding the second method: When I click the Search button, it starts searching for the files, but is stuck on "Mounting recovery point: [path to recovery point]", and this takes forever. It's a remote point, but it doesn't actually seem tobe mounting it. In the past this process took a couple minutes. I have searched all over the web but haven't found anyone else experiencing a similar problem. Am I doing something wrong? What can I do to further understand this problem? Thanks in advance.

SSR 2013 Password Protection
I have been evaluating a trial version and have created some password protected and encrypted backups. If I double-click one of the .v2i files, I'm prompted to enter the password (as expected). However, if I double-click the .sv21 file, the SSR 2013 Granular Restore Option window opens and I am able to recover the password protected and encrypted files WITHOUT being prompted for a password!!! This is VERY disturbing! Can someone explain this? Alan

SSR 2011 not showing failed or missed backups.
Hi, I'm using a SSR 2011 Management Solutions. Here i've setup 2 policy's and 1 filter, meaning that a client receives 2 Backup Jobs. Through the Management Agent the SSR 2011 on the client does receive its Jobs. Each Jobs has a different destination. When the first Job has been done succesfully but the second Job has failed. It reports to the home screen that the system has been fully backed up. The Jobs are running every week, but i found a Computer that had missed a job for half an year without reporting that it has missed a job. Symantec System Recovery 2013
I have installed SSR 2013 on my desktop computer and designated a folder on a WD MYBOOKLIVE external HDD, which is on my local network, as the backup location. I then backed up my system. I created an SSR Recovery Disk and then attempted to verify it. No joy. I couldn't see the backup folder on the WD drive. The folder is two layers down. What is my problem? I used Ghost until I bought this new computer. I loved it and desperately want SSR 2013 to work for me. I used the remote HDD because it is physically remote from my office.

Offsite copy delay
I'm hoping someone could shed some light on a fairly strange issue I am having with a client. My client has a single server running Windows SBS 2011 Std + Symantec System Recovery 2013. They have a backup every two hours to an internal 1TB SATA hard drive located inside the server. After the backup completes it should than carry out an offsite copy to one of two external 1TB USB hard drives which are plugged into the same server and are rotated daily. The backup itself does not have a problem running and completes successfully with incrementals competing within two to three minutes, and the offsite copy around five to six minutes to the USB drive. My issue is, that the time between completing the backup to the internal drive and starting the offsite copy to the USB drive appears to be increasing after every backup. For example the 08:30 backup completes at 08:34, than the offsite copy starts at 08:35. However than the 10:30 backup completes at 10:34, but the offsite copy does not start until 10:45. Followed by the 12:30 backup finishing at 12:34, than the offsite copy starting at 12:55 The increasing gap generally doesn't follow a particuarly patten, sometimes the gap increases by two minutes, other times by ten. If you leave this to continue, you eventually have a situtation that the offsite copy does not complete until two hours after the orginal backup took place. Which causes problems particuarly at the end of the day when my client wants to take the USB hard drive offsite with the most recent incremental point on it. Manually running a backup does exactly the same thing and I have tried starting and stopping the System Recovery service which has not made a difference. I have also tried recreating the backup job from scratch with no joy. There are no errors in the event logs which simply state when the backup starts and finishes, and when the offsite copy finishes. Does anyone have any suggestions to this?
