NIC Teaming Slow Throughput, any ideas?
Hey guys, We currently have 2Gig set up through NIC teaming for our backup exec setup. When we have backups running, it barely reaches 35-40% of the bandwith. I am using Backup Exec 2010. Has anyone else here set up NIC teaming before? What are some things that might cause slow performance? Are there any specific settings in Backup Exec that may help? Thanks!5.2KViews3likes9CommentsEasy: Restoring from a RAID 1 device
Hya folks! Setup: BackupExec 2012 running on SBS 2011. Storage device is a 1GB drive plugged into a Stardom with a secondary disk that we manually swap and take offsite every week (actually, a collection of four such drives that we swap in series). This gives us backups going back four weeks. We want to restore a mailbox from three weeks ago. I've pulled the oldest RAID 1 diskout of rotation, mounted it in a usb enclosure, and shared it over the network. I am, however, not very familiar with how Backup Exec's manages storage devices and I am having trouble creating a Restore job from this network disk. Can someone please walk me through the process to create a Restore job from a network share for an old backup set? Part of the problem may be that the disk has the same identity as the active storage drive. I tried adding the network share in storage via the menu: Storage | Configure Storage | Disk-Based Storage | Disk Storage | ... Error message: "The disk storage device [PrimaryStorageDiskName]was found at the specified path. It is already a device on [ServerName] and cannot be added as a shared device." I'm sure it's a relatively trivial process, and my inexperience is the only major barrier. Much thanks!1.9KViews1like9CommentsBackup strategy best practice please.

One of my clients are wanting an offsite backup solution for one of their SBS 2011 Servers. They want to be able to to backup around 600GB of system image. Convert it to a virtual disk, (not decided on hyper-v or vmware yet). Then move it across the internet via highspeed broadband to another site, where there will be another server running either esxi or hyper-v. Once a full image is taken, the system will then increment backups.First of all, we haven't used backup exec since 2010 as we have been using competition services, mainly cloud. But our client prefers this option. Before I cost this solution for them, I need to know if it is at all possible? The purpose of this solution is the minimal downtime option. If the sbs box dies, the hyper-v/esxi box can be brought on site and switched on. Can this be done? ThanksSolved523Views0likes1Commenthow to restore system state backup on win 2012

We will soon be reinstalling Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3 software due to an OS upgrade to 64bit version. note that this upgrade will be on the exact same server. The server is already 64bit hardware with a 32bit OS. Upgrading OS to 64bit. Here is my primary need: Ineed to make sure where to locate the BackupExec Encryption Keys and how to back them up (Export/Import) or whatever it takes. I also need to know the location forANY configuration files perteninent to the coniguration of BackupExec so I can back them up to be restored on the new server. Is there a PDF document available - or if someone has a minute to provide the details - It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.1.6KViews1like2Comments
